Some might argue that he doesnt belong in the "legends" section. I beg to disagree, and I hope you agree too.
Freddy Gonzalez, in the late 90's and early 2000's was unquestionably one of maybe two bright spots in Azkals history at that time. Not only was he a competent soccer player in the PI, he was also a "PROFESSIONAL" player outside of the Philippines. He was "world class" at a time when no one called a Filipino soccer player "world class".
Below is the wiki write up on Mr. Gonzalez:
Alfredo Razon Gonzalez From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alfredo Fernando Razón "Freddy" Gonzalez (born 1 October 1978 in Parañaque City) is a Filipino football player and many-time member of the Philippines national football team. He is considered by many as the first ever Filipino professional football player in history and the Philippines' finest striker since the legendary Paulino Alcántara. However, like Alcantara, Gonzalez was a Filipino of Spanish descent.
Gonzalez mother, Terry Razon, enrolled him to the Makati Football School (MFS) at the age of six. He later became the high school football star of Colegio de San Agustin and earned himself a scholarship to University of Portland.
He made his debut for the national team in 1997 and since then represent the country in South East Asian Games, in the ASEAN Tiger Cup and in any other invitational and qualifying tournaments.[1] He is currently the country's most experienced national team member.
In January 2003, Gonzalez signed for the V-League club East Asian Commercial Bank. He was a part-time player in Europe and also played for the Kaya F.C. in the Philippines.
He is married to Anne Arcenas, Havaianas Philippines' Vice President for Marketing.
If anyone has more info about his career in the V-League and europe, pics and bio too, please chime in. Am also interested in his current whereabouts.

I was planning to add this guy on these boards, good job. Freddy was the talisman of our national side when the Younghusbands weren't playing yet. Some even say he was the incarnation of Paulino Alcantara himself. Too bad we didn't have a world-class training session in place like how we do now. Freddy would have improved his skills.

Below is a PM I received after I posted this new thread. "Unfortunately, right after his contract with the Vietnam professional club expired Freddy retired from playing football and took a hands-on role in his business.
Today some eyewitnesses have claimed to have seen Razon to be unfit(match fitness), In fact, he has put on quite a few pounds as a result of his inactivity in playing". To our members. Please PM me information about his career and clubs during his playing days or post them here yourself. If youve got pics of him now and during his playing days , please do post them here along with any facts about him. Thanks all!

I just recently found some info, I'd like to share.
In 2003 Freddy Gonzalez signed and played for Dong An Bank a team in the V League. I am verifying the team but have no luck so far, neither V League, 1st or 2nd division bears this teams name.
Anyone with info?

I already ran "east asian commercial bank" as per my first post above, and other variations before and came up with what you just posted, or a variation thereof. Still nothing close with either the V league or 1st div. teams.

So I'll start with the basics. Born: In Parañaque City on Oct 1 1978. Like a large minority of 'Filipinos' he has mixed heritage. In his case, of Spanish- French descent. A hyper active kid, his mother Terry Razon(deceased) enrolled him at the tender age of 6 into the Makati Football School(MFS), his tutor was the famed football guru, Tomas Lozano, the founder of MFS. Even at this young age, he was noted to be of superior 'genetics' and excellent speed which only increased as he got older. He attended school in Colegio de San Agustin in Makati and promptly became a star. After high school, attended Univerity of San Agustin in Iloilo at the same time playing semi professional soccer. He earned a soccer scholarship to the University of Portland, staying there for 2 years(1998/99) and playing for the Portland Pilots, the school soccer team, honing his skills in the offensive side of the game, and finally graduating with an Engineering degree in Cnth. Somewhere in between all this, he played amateur soccer in France(couldn't find anymore info on clubs, etc). After writing the ^^above blog. He finally decided to play again! Though I'm not expecting a "national team" performance, its personally satisfying to know he'll take the pitch again. He is in the Pechanga roster.

Freddy got to play in Pachanga's opener against Agila FC in their first game of the UFL League season. He still has it.
"Red Phoenix owner Freddie Gonzalez entered the match to replace striker Jovin Bedic.
Gonzalez who last played competitive football four years ago was inspirational in his return to competitive football. Soon after his entry, he served up a cross that new acquisition Ruffy Llorente blasted home for Pachanga’s third goal. Five minutes before fulltime, Gonzalez this time drove from the left wing where he drew a couple of Agila defenders. Trying to locate forward Anu Farah or midfielder Kross Ubiam, Gonzalez’ tight cross deflected off Agila defender Louie John Valeroso for an own goal that ended the scoring at 4-nil.
“We didn’t adjust right away to the small pitch,” said Pachanga head coach Norman Fegidero Jr. “It took a while for offense to get going. Then the goals came.”
“Did you see our new Spanish import?” he joked referring to Gonzalez who still showed he can play some. “Hindi lang Global ang may Spanish player.”
“I felt old and slow in there,” huffed a relieved and ecstatic Gonzalez. “A few more games and maybe I will be in shape. But it’s good to get that first win.”
