A little bit off-topic but nice saying on your sig April. hehehe
Anyway, I think having Weiss as the new AZKALS coach will be good for the team on and off the pitch. With Weiss, the PFF will not spend a single centavo for his salary since it is shouldered by the German Football Federation and it will not compromise quality because Weiss is a top footballing coach with much experience in international football.

Heaven is where the police are English, carmakers German, cooks French, lovers Italians, and everything is organized by the Swiss.
Hell is where the police are German, carmakers French, cooks English, lovers Swiss, and everything is organized by the Italians.
Joking aside, German football is known as disciplined, fixed, formulaic. A friend once said they play like robots. But the execution is superb. Doesn't matter that the opponent knows what you're going to do if the execution is flawless. That's why they have a history of being so dangerous with set pieces.
With that background it makes me wonder what the philosophy of Coach Weiss is. Is he going to bring in that German discipline to the Azkals? Is the style going to be more fixed and predictable but with players knowing exactly what they're supposed to do?
I know these are all stereotypes, and in the end the only thing that's important is to bring the team playing quality to an even higher level than it is now. Looking forward to achieving great accomplishments.
Good luck to Coach Weiss.

Here is a translated version(from German to English) of an interview given by our coach Hans Weiss to SPOX magazine where the ad for a new coach was originally placed by Dan Palami:
Trainer Michael Weiss is the new hope of the Philippine Football © spox Head coach Michael White Interview Friday, 01/14/2011 "A second case Alaba must not happen" In the far reaching Rwanda Michael Weiss the job of the Philippines. He was chosen as the new coach - and is now to write a fairy tale. The 45-year-old Internet streams on rickety and his acquaintance with Alex Ferguson.
SPOX: Mr. Weiss, congratulations on your new job as coach of the Philippines. How did you find on the search action in SPOX?
Michael Weiss: I was in Rwanda at the time and was in accordance with nothing. A journalist friend from Germany, however, has read it and reach me. I am now on the internet, I found the job advertisement and immediately thought that job would be perfect for me. I then sent to SPOX the job.
SPOX: Were not you skeptical?
Weiss: The action is of course unusual, because in football otherwise networks are crucial, often become sites occupied also by hanky-panky. But in this case did everything absolutely serious impression, and this was confirmed when the Philippine Association promptly filed with me and proved to be very reliable and open to talk to. Certainly I was when I first met in early January Team Manger Dan Palami in Frankfurt.
SPOX: Were you sure that you get the award?
Weiss: I was aware that I meet the profile, but I was too far away to say that I get the contract. In today's football world it is extremely difficult to get hold of a job at all, let alone equal to the trainer's office of a senior team. The competition is crazy, alone, already, when you consider that over 100 people have applied for SPOX. I got the commitment is incredible and makes me extremely.
SPOX: Honestly, what did you know in advance by the Philippine Football?
Weiss: Absolutely nothing. But from the time of my application I have researched extensively and I read it purely in everything. I'm completely up to date, whether it's about the players, the federation structure or the characteristics of the country. The semi-finals of the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Championships in December, I watched live on the internet, although the Internet connection in Rwanda is otherwise a disaster.
SPOX: please refer to the Philippines, a two-year contract. What is further procedures?
Weiss: I'm flying on Friday from Rwanda to Manila, then I'll sign the contract and am with immediate effect, the new coach. My Japanese wife moved with their two children back to their home for the time being, but in May we will meet in Germany and solve for anything. On 1 June pulls the entire family to the Philippines.
SPOX: You plan your future in the Philippines - but you are aware that the expectation is immense? You are the 150th the world rankings into the top lead 100th
Weiss: That must not happen today to tomorrow. I firmly believe that we can write a little story, because the basic quality of the team is very good. Realistically, however, we are starting almost from zero. Only the serious work of Mr Palami it is thanks to the national team was much more successful than the last 50 years before, but it does not alter the fact that we have to start much like the installation of a new scouting system.
SPOX: What do you plan on scouting?
Weiss: Paul Weiler, an official adviser to the Association, and previously Alfons Schunk have shown us what can be done. We need players like Stephan Schroeck and Manuel Ott, bring the total willingness aground for the homeland of their mothers. Now, add the half-Dane Dennis Cagara, who was in the Bundesliga with Hertha under contract to the group of future national players. A big focus will be placed on the United States, where it should also provide a large pool of talented soccer players with Filipino roots. We must in any case no other case David Alaba happen that was not even asked if he wants to play for the Philippines. Jonathan de Guzman also Mallorca's gain would have been incredible.
SPOX: The Philippine Association sought no chance for a trainer with management expertise. Bring it with you?
Weiss: As technical director in Rwanda for four years I have shown that I can build up quite well. I have been responsible for the promotion of youth, the evolution of women's soccer coach and the reform of training on the German model, also I have charge of the U-17 national team. During this time, many players went through my hands, which now constitute the backbone of the senior national team.
SPOX: how to imagine life in Rwanda? In Germany, you think still the first in the bloody civil war between Hutu and Tutsi in Rwanda when the speech.
Weiss: This is a completely wrong picture. President Paul Kagame has led the country out of the shadows into the light. Rwanda is, thanks to his wise economic policies to the showcase African Everything blooms, many foreign countries to invest and plan large projects. Landscape and climate Rwanda is already among the most beautiful countries in the world.
SPOX: Why did you leave Rwanda for the Philippines?
Weiss: I occupied in Rwanda to take an important position, but as the head coach's hopes of an entire nation is challenging, I had to accept.
SPOX: What have you learned from the previous stations in China and Japan?
Weiss: the ability to compromise and come to terms with existing mechanisms. China and Japan are quite different, but in the two countries unwritten rules within a federation or association have been instrumental, to which one had to hold on to. The task was to achieve the best possible despite the existing limitations. As a German, will arrive with full pelt and not change everything fuktioniert, rather it is about diplomacy, caution and flexibility. Without these qualities, you have no chance abroad.
SPOX: How much you benefit from your work placements?
Weiss: I was surprised that the clubs have in content from the training not as varied, whether in Manchester United, Real Madrid or from 1 FC Kaiserslautern. One lays a bit more emphasis on technique, the other on tactics, that's it. What impressed me more to learn about the coaching personalities. With Vanderlei Luxemburgo, the former coach of Real, it was average, the days when Arsenal and Arsene Wenger on the other hand ran sensational. Equally memorable, to live four weeks with the Chinese Olympic team in Buenos Aires and train at River Plate. Out pungent, however, the intern at Manunited.
SPOX: How do you get such an opportunity?
Weiss: Eckhard Krautzun, my former boss in China, is a close friend of Alex Ferguson and we were ten days are fully integrated into the team. Back then, Cristiano Ronaldo his first steps in England. Ferguson was zero arrogant, quite the contrary: He showed us everything on the club grounds, he invited us to dinner and we were laughing together. Fergie is a world-class type, and of course a great example. ------------------------------------------------------
Anyways Coach Weiss doesn't seem to have much top level managerial experience and Dan chose him over 100+ candidates from all over Germany and elsewhere incl. some who managed clubs before. I know this from previous articles on SPOX.
I think what Dan was looking for was a coach who has experience building up a football infrastructure from scratch and whose experience relating to different cultures allows him to adapt to different circumstances. He even has a Japanese wife which means he has experience with Asian culture.
I like the fact that he is emphasizing the training of youth in Rwanda based on the German model and was responsible for guiding the U-17 youth team. Rwanda is the first African country to qualify for the upcoming World Cup U-17 tournament which they accomplished last week and is an up and coming team at higher levels. He would have been a great technical director for our football program and can probably still add a lot of input to the PFF in that regards while still acting as coach of the senior team.
