Yup the phrase doesn't make sense, why silence a bandwagoner, he/she is suppose to be for the team? Here is an explanation to the meaning of the word from an online dictionary: In sports, someone who shamelessly cheers for a particular team not because he likes them or follows them faithfully, but only because that particular team is the "popular" choice or has been or is the top team in their specific sport recently. They're cheering for the team! Not against the team. A better description or word to use in that slogan is "CRITICS". Silence the CRITICS, now that makes sense.

It also reminds me of the term "prawn sandwich brigade," that term coined by Roy Keane during a Manchester United match during the Champions League sometime in 2000.(can't remember exactly when?) "Away from home our fans are fantastic, I'd call them the hardcore fans. But at home they have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches, and they don't realise what's going on out on the pitch."Answers.com defines it: Q. What do you call the glory-supporting, bandwagon-jumping-on socialites that know nothing about football and Manchester United but still go to the games?
A. The Prawn Sandwich Brigade. But yeah, it still makes sense that we should replace that tagline.

Good Design.. But Yes! We don't need to silence the bandwagonners, we should even be tools to educate them about the game of football.. We must remember that these bandwagonners are also one of the reasons why our home games are always sold-out!

Not to be nitpicky about "Critics are silenced," but we might want to reconsider that. For all us regulars here we know the context of what that means, but for the casual visitors and newbies to the forum they might get confused. A look at our postings and one could see that we do a fair share of critique on the forum. Which isn't a bad thing, in fact, constructive criticism should be encouraged, it adds value to our debates and discussions here. Also, silencing critics doesn't sound democratic either.
If I may, how about revising it to be "Where the Haters are Silenced." Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the context by which we understand the meaning of wiking's proposal, right? In my opinion, there's a difference between critics and haters, and obviously, it is the latter (and they do exist) that we wish to silence.

Hi narko, actually I meant critics of 'football' but yes you are correct, I bend to your logic, mine might be construed as 'elitist'. Something, I think, the current banner is guilty off. In 'honor' of our awful banner check my new blog title: wikingandtheazkals.blogspot.com/

In 'honor' of our awful banner check my new blog title: wikingandtheazkals.blogspot.com/I know what you meant wiking, as I'm sure the other regulars with whom we have constant exchanges with do too. My suggestion was more in consideration of the casual visitors and newbies who might not get it. Good job with your blog by the way and thanks for the effort to keep us updated of our players' performances with their clubs overseas. More power to you.
