Here it is, guys! Looking good! What's still missing, though, is the grandstand which should be done by the middle of next year. Looks good, but the turf isn't ideal... I guess it saves money though. Does grass really die quickly in the Philippines? I know it does here in the US (some areas even need two different species of grass), but last time I was there, all the lawns had the ideal soil and grass for football.

UFL finally finds a homeBy Karlo Sacamos December 26, 2012, 08:49 pm THE United Football League finally has a field it can call home. Santi Araneta, the UFL chairman, on Wednesday announced the completion of the Mckinley Hill football field in Taguig, an all-weather artificial pitch that will help smoothen the league schedule for the coming new season. Araneta made the announcement through his Twitter account. “We don’t want to have dependency on the schedule. There will be less cancelation of games this time,” said Araneta later in phone conversation with Spin.ph. In the last UFL Cup, numerous games had to be cancelled due to the unavailability of the Rizal Memorial Stadium or the sogginess of the University of Makati pitch caused by heavy rains. "We won’t have problems anymore. Expect better quality football," said Araneta, the CEO of LBC Express. The $1-million pitch, built in partnership with Megaworld Corp., began construction eight months ago and is up to Fifa standards. Araneta said the UFL will have temporary bleachers in time for the league's resumption on February 5. The grandstand, which has a target seating capacity between 2,000 and 4,500 people, will be available in June. Am I seeing concrete below the artificial turf?.. just had a premonition... bones cracking.. ouch!.. There's a layer of concrete, but above that is aggregate (pebbles/gravel and crushed rock). Then they make sure its level before they put on the synthetic surface. they also put sand aside from the aggregate to make sure it drains properly. After they put in the surface, they will also put an infill of rubber. its actually soft. the only complain that players have (including me) is that if you slide on the surface, you will get carpet burns. but landing on it is fine.

The UFL has published a PDF transportation guide to McKinley Hill and the soon-to-be-named "Emperador Stadium." It sorta cracks me up that I associate the name with the brand of brandy. LOL!

UFL gets modern football pitchABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 02/07/2013 10:59 PM | Updated as of 02/07/2013 11:01 PM Emperador Stadium, brand new football field in McKinley Hill, Taguig City -- handoutMANILA, Philippines – The United Football League (UFL) is finally getting a home of its own with the unveiling of a brand new football field in McKinley Hill, Taguig City. Called the "Emperador Stadium," the multimillion-peso pitch features an artificial turf similar to those being used in international football arenas. “We saw the need to build this kind of sporting venue that will answer the needs of even the most demanding athletes here and abroad,” said Jericho Go, first vice president of Megaworld, which designed the field and its core facilities. The turf uses the Max S 60 mm variety of the Italian brand Limonta Sport, one of the few turf providers recognized by FIFA. The turf system is similar to those being used by AC Milan, Valencia FC, and the floating marina field in Singapore. The lights were supplied by Belgian brand Schreder Group GIE and French Zenith Luminaires. Supporting the lights were the poles crafted by the Bradwell Group. The field, which currently has a 2,000-seating capacity, is situated on a 15,000-square meter land at the McKinley Hill. Go said the seating capacity may extend to 5,000, as expansion plans are still underway. The UFL has already forged a four-year partnership with Megaworld for the priority usage of the stadium. In the past, University of Makati (UMAK) Field and the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium have hosted most of the UFL games. The league, however, has encountered scheduling problems since it does not control the venues. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/02/07/13/ufl-gets-modern-football-pitch

Megaworld positions McKinley Hill as football venueBy: Krista Angela M. Montealegre, InterAksyon.com February 8, 2013 11:52 AM MANILA – Megaworld Corp on Thursday night launched a world-class football stadium in its township project in McKinley Hill that will be the new home of the United Football League (UFL). Located on a 15,000-square meter lot along Campus Avenue at the back of Venice Piazza, the multi-million peso artificial football turf, named the Emperador Stadium, will have a seating capacity of 2,000 and facilities on a par with the world’s best. UFL has forged a four-year partnership with Megaworld for priority use of the venue, which will begin hosting the league’s matches starting this weekend. "It's what we call a game changer, having this facility that will offer to all Filipinos alike not only to become competitive but so we can also excel in this sport," said Jericho Go, Megaworld first vice president for business development and leasing group. The stadium uses the Max S 60 millimeter variety of the Italian brand Limonta Sport, one of the few turf providers certified by FIFA. The Italian company is also the same supplier of the turf systems of the AC Milan, Valencia FC, and the Floating Marina Field in Singapore. Belgian brand Schreder Group GIE and the French Zenite Luminaries were tapped for the lighting systems, while the Bradwell Group supplied the poles, manufactured in Turkey, that support these lights. "We've seen how the Philippines has made football as one of the most anticipated sporting events in recent years. That's why we saw the need to build this kind of sporting venue that will answer the needs, in terms of amenities and facilities, of even the most demanding athletes here and abroad," said Go. Expansion plans are underway to extend the seating capacity to 5,000. Locker rooms, a dugout and shower room facilities will be finished by midyear. Unlike other stadiums that are also hosting events and concerts, the field will be used exclusively for football-related activities to protect the artificial turf, said UFL chairman Santi Araneta. Go said this may not be the last partnership between Megaworld and UFL because both parties are in talks for the development of another football turf on one of the real estate developer’s township projects either in Iloilo or Cebu. "This deal is very instrumental in promulgating Megaworld's 'play' idea on our live-work-play formula. Now, we can add UFL's exciting matches to the world-class features everyone can see on a Megaworld township such as McKinley Hill," Go said. Megaworld named its football turf after sister company Emperador Distillers Inc. Both firms are subsidiaries of Alliance Global Group Inc, controlled by tycoon Andrew Tan. "Megaworld is the developer, but as a developer, it is important to tie up with a company like Emperador to help bring in the world-class facilities. It's a multi-million peso deal and to be able to offer all these facilities, we brought in the sponsor," Go said. www.interaksyon.com/business/54604/megaworld-positions-mckinley-hill-as-football-venueNOTE: The thread has been renamed as "Emperador Stadium," to reflect the new name of the venue.
