R. Gier (Ascot United)ASCOT UNITED 2 -
Finchampstead 3Finchampstead proceed in the Reading Senior Cup after a mad first half hour saw 5 goals and Finchampstead taking the lead after a defensive mix-up.
Despite having the majority of the possession and peppering the Finchampsted goal in the second half the crossbar and Griffith returning to the Racecourse on good form in goal denied Ascot the equalizer and the Finchampstead dug deep and defended deep for long periods to see out the game. The disappointment against lower league opposition continues for Ascot as the side are yet to register a win in the cup against lower league teams since being promoted to the Premier division and after recent excellent performances on the road against tough opposition, Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty will now look to bounce back in Tuesday evening's Bucks & Berks Senior Trophy game against Wantage Town. Admission for that game is free of charge and a great chance for the whole club to get down to floodlit action during half term week.
