Javi Patino scored in Henan Jianye's 3-3 draw against Chongqing Lifan. Nothing wrong with Patino and it is a FIFA mandated date. His club cannot prevent him from playing for the Philippines. He just doesn't want to play for the Azkals, it looks like. So he played for Azkals so that he can solidify his move to Asia (Thailand then China)? I was hoping that things would change after moving away from Buriram, but everything's just the same...

Javi Patino scored in Henan Jianye's 3-3 draw against Chongqing Lifan. Nothing physically wrong with Patino and it is a FIFA mandated date. His club cannot prevent him from playing for the Philippines. He just doesn't want to play for the Azkals, it looks like. So he played for Azkals so that he can solidify his move to Asia (Thailand then China)? I was hoping that things would change after moving away from Buriram, but everything's just the same... Acc. to cedelf, the PFF sent 2 letters to Henan Jiaye to obtain Patino's release and even informed the Chinese FA of Patino's case more than a week ago. CSL will be on break. It might be that since he is new to his club that he is trying to solidify his place in the starting lineup, so he asked not to join the Azkals this time. Hopefully this is the reason and can easily be determined by his willingness to join the team on other FIFA mandated dates. Otherwise, the only other reason I can think of, is that he is angling for more financial compensation to play for our team(which I hope he realizes we cannot afford), like I have seen on other national teams where players sometimes go on strike. If that is the case, then all I can say is we don't need mercenaries on our team.

The onus is now on striker Javier Patino to declare if he’s still willing to play for the national team. Philippines coach Thomas Dooley wants commitment from the Fil-Spanish striker, following his absence in the Azkals’ first training camp of the year here. Dooley’s patience seems to be running thin as Patino again begged off from joining camp due to personal matters. He also missed the AFC Challenge Cup and AFF Suzuki Cup last year due to club commitments in Thailand and injuries. “Javier would have been perfect for us,” Dooley said. “But we don’t know if he still wants to play for us.” Patino, who has two goals from three matches with the national team, just moved from Buriram United in Thailand to Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League. He scored twice in his debut for Henan. Two letters to Henan The Philippine Football Federation twice sent letters to Henan to push for Patino’s release and even asked the Chinese Football Association to intervene. Patino ruled himself out of the camp, however. “I don’t know what happened to Javier. It looks like he doesn’t want to play for the Philippines,” said Dooley on the eve of the clash with Bahrain. “If that’s the case, he has to make an announcement with the federation so we don’t call him up again. It’s not good for the team when we don’t know he’s coming or not.” sports.inquirer.net/177071/dooley-wants-patino-commitment

The reason Buriram sold him is because they are concern that he is injury prone. I cant blame the guy for not playing for the country if that is the case, after all, he have to take care himself first.

I think the main reason why Buriram sold him because of $$$$$......business wise. Buriram bought Patino for 9,000,000 Baht and sold it for 40,000,000 Buriram is doing this for a lot of their players and Patino is not the only one.

sports.inquirer.net/181388/fil-spanish-striker-back-with-ph-azkals#ixzz3ZwrLZIvRPROLIFIC striker Javier Patiño, a notable absentee in the last two major tournaments of the Philippine Azkals, has made himself available for the World Cup Qualifiers starting next month. Now playing for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League, the 27-year-old Fil-Spanish should bolster the Azkals’ attack which has been left wanting in some of the most important matches last year. Patiño missed the AFC Challenge Cup and the AFF Suzuki Cup due to injuries last year. He also skipped the Azkals training camp in Bahrain in March, prompting coach Thomas Dooley to question his willingness to play for the country. Patiño only played under Dooley once in a friendly against Azerbaijan in March last year. But Azkals manager Dan Palami said he has already received a commitment from Patiño to play for the Azkals, who landed in a tough World Cup qualifying group that includes Bahrain, Uzbekistan, North Korea and Yemen. “He was always interested in playing for the Azkals, but only needed to make arrangements with his club in China,” said Palami. “Now that all things are cleared, he will play.” Patiño has been in scintillating form since transferring from Thailand’s Buriram United to Henan, scoring five goals in his first seven games in the Chinese league. The Azkals face Bahrain in their WCQ opener on June 11 at Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan. The only problem is that they still need time to gel.

Patino: The draw was not kind to the Philippines (FIFA.com) 26 May 2015 Phillipines international striker Javier Patino Rarely has a player from the Philippines, who are 137th on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, plied his trade in an Asia's top league, let alone dazzled in it. But with on-song striker Javier Patino making waves in the Chinese Super League, the Azkals fans can finally boast a star capable of firing the team to ground-breaking victories. When the 27-year-old former Cordoba and Buriram United forward joined Henan Jianye at the start of this year, there was little fanfare. However, with five goals from ten outings, Patino has even out-scored last season’s leading marksman, Brazilian Elkeson, along with K-League legend Dejan Damjanovic and Tim Cahill. "I could not have had a better start." Patino told FIFA.com, "Not every player scores twice in his first match in a new league. I am hoping to prolong this form to finish my first season on a high." National duties Among those watching him closely is Philippines coach Thomas Dooley, whose side face a tough home game against Bahrain in their qualifying opener for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. While even their own supporters have just realistic hopes against the 2004 AFC Asian Cup semi-finalists, the 53-year-old former USA captain believes that they are capable of springing a surprise with Panito.
"He is the player we desperately need,” Dooley explained. “We can create chances but we are found lacking in finishing ability. Patino is, though, a striker who knows where to be and how to finish. He is a typical one-touch player in the box.
"He will play in the No9 jersey for us. Our No9 has to be dangerous, but most importantly he has to score goals when he gets a chance. Patino is the one who can give us that. I'm excited to have him for the qualifier."
Patino missed last year's AFC Challenge Cup, where Philippines lost to Palestine 1-0 in the final, a result which cost them a maiden appearance in AFC Asian Cup. "We tried to bring him in all the time, but because of injuries and his transfer to China, he wasn't be able to join and play for us,” rued Dooley. “Now I am absolutely glad he maintains his prolific form."
World Cup hopes Born in Madrid to a Filipino mother, Patino cut his teeth with Alcobendas’s youth team before signing up with Spanish second-division side Cordoba four years ago. He left to join Buriram United in 2013 and made an immediate impact by helping to the Thai giants to a milestone quarter-final finish in that year's AFC Champions League, as well as the domestic title.
"For me, the Thai League is very special because it’s where I began my Asian adventure," Patino said. "It's a very competitive league where I learned many things. Of course, playing in the AFC Champions League helped me grow fast as a forward."
The Bahrain test marks only Patino's first-ever World Cup qualifier and his fourth in all competitions representing the Philippines. His national team debut dates back to the March 2013 when he scored twice in a 8-0 demolition of Cambodia.
"I really want to play for Philippines," he said of the Bahrain game. "Above all, this game is special. It's my first World Cup qualifying game and it should be a wonderful experience."
The Philippines have yet to register a significant result in World Cup qualifying, having seen all their three past attempts end in early exits. They may have defeated Sri Lanka 5-1 on aggregate on the road to Brazil 2014, but were soon brought down back to earths after being knocked out by Kuwait by the identical scoreline. Having scored regularly with clubs like Buriram and Henan, though, Patino is itchy to defy Asia's big boys.
"It is not a kind draw for us," he remarked on their group which also features Uzbekistan, Yemen and Korea DPR. "The competition will be hard. But we have a team consisting of some high-quality players. We will do our best and try to help Philippines to a better place."

More articles on Patino's performance the past couple of weeks in the WCQ: Patino assist gives Azkals win vs Yemen www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/06/20/15/patino-assist-gives-azkals-win-vs-yemenPatino proving worth as an Azkal manilastandardtoday.com/2015/06/20/patino-proving-worth-as-an-azkal/It's good to see these media outlets continue writing articles about the Azkals. Asked on how to sustain interest in and support to the Azkals, Simon McMenemy emphasized the role of the media. He suggested publishing stories about the players, to humanize the team, for fans to understand their backgrounds, to relate to them and support them. Hope these articles will keep coming and we will see the effect in the attendance in the future home matches of the team.
