Azkals hope Filipino-Spanish striker can boost Challenge Cup chances The Philippine national men’s football team hopes highly-touted Filipino-Spanish striker Javier Patiño can boost the Azkals’ campaign in the 2014 Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup qualifiers slated in March. Photo courtesy of CF Cordoba Patiño, who plays for Cordoba CF in the Spanish second division league, was supposed to arrive this week to obtain his Philippine passport, but his trip was postponed due to commitments with his club. “As of now, Javier is coordinating with his club for him to leave Spain on Sunday,” Azkals liaison officer and staff member Rafa Garcia said. “He was supposed to be here tomorrow, but the return flight will not make him reach his practice session at Cordoba which was the agreement. “When he arrives here, we will fix his passport for his eligibility. He, too, is doing all he can to come here and play for his mother land.” Born to a Filipino mother, Patiño played in various clubs in Spain before joining Cordoba in 2011. He has scored 11 goals in 62 appearances with the squad. Patiño is expected to provide more attacking options for the Azkals, easing the scoring burden off strikers Phil Younghusband and Angel Guirado. The Azkals aim to top their group, which features Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, and Turkmenistan, in the qualifiers on March to advance to the 2014 Challenge Cup, where they look to surpass their third-place finish in last year’s edition of the tournament. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/azkals-hope-filipino-spanish-striker-can-boost-challenge-cup-chances

KUdos to Garcia brothers Rafa and Caloy who are instrumental in realization of bringing Javi Patino to Philippines. They Rafa and Caloy shared their negotiating skills and Spanish fluency unselfishly which are very handy in their past dealings not only with their cousins the Guirado brothers but with Carli Martinez as well. May your tribe grow Caloy and Rafa! ! !

Adelaide United star Iain Ramsay is rumored to be joining Philippines National Football Team A.K.A Azkals for their campaign in 2013 AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers on March. He, will be joining Liga Adalente Cordoba S.C Star Forward, Javier Patiño, for the team, as the newest recruits, and maybe the best recruits of Philippine Azkals since the time of arrival of Bundesliga's TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Stephan Schrock. Ramsay said that he will be waiting to be called up for the Australian Team, and may join the Azkals if he wasn't called up for the team. Here are the tweets: @abaccordero@ab-accordero @dscpalami says new azkals recruit javier patinio flying in from spain tomorrow morning for proper documentation in time for challenge cup @abaccordero @dscpalami will get patinio at airport."after breakfast we go straight to DFA & immigration. then he flies back to spain in the evening." @teddydario @abaccordero @dscpalami There's this talented Pinoy footballer in the Australian pro league, Ian Ramsay, who was rumored to be joining too. -Bill Christian Pacatang- -Admin BillPac- (This is Copy pasted from Facebook)

regarding Iain Ramsay, that is old news already. Dan Palami wanted to recruit him 2 years ago but Iain still wanted to try for Australia NT. Every now and then we receive these rumors but nothing materialize.

Wow, he's tall for La Liga standards. Also seems to be ok as a lone striker.
