Dili Kamo Nag-iisa
A charity football match featuring a team whose core will be composed of members of the Philippine Men’s National Team (“the Azkals”) playing against Internacional de Madrid will be held on January 7th at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The Philippine Team will be called the Azkals Alyansa. The team is expected to be lead by Azkals co-captain Chieffy Caligdong who will skipper the team in the absence of injured national team captain, Aly Borromeo. Also slated to play are James and Phil Younghusband, Ian Araneta, Anton del Rosario, Nate Burkey and Jason Sabio. The team will also include members of the developmental squad including OJ Clarino, Jinggoy Valmayor, Paolo Pascual and Raymark Fernandez. Rounding out the initial list of players are Eduard Sacapano, Roel Gener, Nestor Margarse, Misagh Bahadoran and Lexton Moy. The match will be televised by ABS CBN as well as shown live (or on a slightly delayed basis) by Telemadrid for the Spanish TV audience. The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has appointed Richard Joson as the Local Organizing Committee Chairman (LOC) for the event. The LOC will include pre-match activities to remember the victims of Sendong and continue the effort to generate additional support. This will include a Telethon organized by ABS CBN that will be broadcast beginning at 2 pm on match day. The LBC Foundation will provide logistical support to collect donations in kind at Rizal Memorial also on match day. Other event-related activities will be announced when finalized. Tickets for the match will be made available via the various outlets of Ticketworld and on Ticketworld.com.ph beginning 4 pm on Monday, January 2nd. Ticket prices will range from P100 (plus taxes and other charges) to P500. ladrido.net/2011/12/29/dili-kamo-nag-iisa-2/

From Internacionals FB acct:
We asked the Chairman of CF Internacional de Madrid on his thoughts for the game.
"I think it is going to be an exciting and competitive match, something which I believe we owe to the organizers of the relief efforts who are working so hard, and to all of the supporters who will turn up for the game. I think for CFIM it is going to be a tough game, because the Azkals will be highly motivated and moved by the occasion. This will not be an exhibition game because I believe that both teams will give their best to make it a truly thrilling and emotional night of football. We really are looking forward to seeing you all in Manila. And as we say, just Keep Playing".

They still have a league match on Jan 8 on their website .
Is it really a senior team that are going to Manila or a youth/reserves team ?

The media advisory posted here bleachersbrew.blogspot.com/2012/01/media-advisory-on-dili-kamo-nag-iisa.htmlsays that the coach for the match will be Edwin Cabalida, Azkals assistant coach. Does this mean that coach Weiss is still in Germany for holiday break? If that's the case, it's understandable since this match was organised at the last minute. It also says there that Air Force and former Azkals GK Edmundo Mercado is in the lineup. I prefer him over Sacapano... (sorry, Ed ;D) I hope Weiss considers calling him up again. I know he's in his late 30's but he's still good, and we need a decent backup for Etheridge and Muller. They still have a league match on Jan 8 on their website . Is it really a senior team that are going to Manila or a youth/reserves team ? They're probably sending their second team...

Some of the names may not be familiar for some of you, but they are former national team players and/or are playing in the UFL.
My thoughts:
As we have a CB crisis with Aly B still tending to injury, good thing Guisso, Doctora and Ashime has been called up for this role while Juan Luis Guirado hasn't arrived yet to fill-in El Capitan's role for the nationals. And where is Jason Sabio?
No problems for the outside backs for me. Roel Gener & Anton del Rosario are solid in itself already, although I'm unsettled on Gener's habit of playing too deep or too wide on his post.
Eduard Sacapaño will mind the sticks this time again since the LA Galaxy friendly. His play was impressive but not that outstanding. His backup though is the one called "Extra Rice" and which Wiking labeled as the "fat goalkeeper" of the UFL Cup finals - Edmundo "Tats" Mercado. I wonder if Tats will be able to perform during the game, because I like his tenacity.
The co-skipper Chieffy Caligdong as left winger. No problem. But I'm unsure for his sub Misagh Bahadoran. Remember that he is often a goal-scorer, not often a goal passer. Such a waste. Put him up front, please!
For the central mid, I'd have Angel as attacking mid, Carli as defensive/holding mid. (hey, Carli's been called here. Remember his club's RC Portuense is on the same Tercera Division as Inter Madrid, just on a different group) The Spanish duo at CM will be lethal, I hope.
I wonder why there isn't much focus on the RM position; if James YH would be injured or sent off, who's gonna replace him? Clariño perhaps?
I don't want to pair Phil YH and Ian together as they have been an ineffective pair since the Singapore friendly. Ian has lost his scoring focus these few games already. Anyways, Nate Burkey's my super-sub; he might be a scare to the sometimes unstable central defense of Inter Madrid, attributing to Nate's height and strength with the ball. I'm unsure though as Nate will be flying back to the PI from Virginia via a trans-Pacific flight, and he'll be fighting off jetlag.
Any other thoughts?

I didn't follow the SEA Games, but I saw OJ Clariño's in the LA Galaxy match and he really impressed me.
I wonder how Guirado feels about playing against a Tercera Division team again. His used to play in that league, after all. Maybe he'll end up being recruited by CF Madrid.
On a different note, I just remembered about the time difference between Spain and the Philippines. I didn't bother to make any calculations, but the time difference may just give their team enough time to fly back to Spain for their league match! ;D

Intermadrid will field a competitive team even if they are sending their youth/reserves team especially since they will be familiar with each other's game, will be more fit and have more team cohesion than the UFL selection that the Philippines will be fielding. The Azkals are mostly calling up locally based players including some former national team players, except for Fil Spaniard Carli de Murga who is playing in the same level in Spain as Intermadrid. The addition of a few UFL players from Africa should help make up for the absence of the foreign based national team players but will be unfamiliar with each other's game. Hopefully nobody gets injured, since the local players will not be in game shape after the long holiday season.

Huh? Malditas vs CF Madrid? A female team vs a male team?
On whether they sent their first or second team... I read somewhere that they're sending their first team but that seems wrong especially since they apparently have a league match the next day. I guess we can only be sure when they get here.
Apparently, the Azkals+UFL match is not the only match scheduled for their Philippine visit. I've also read somewhere that they're also playing against Air Force on the 10th.... and also against the Malditas? I don't understand, are they also sending their women's team.

The website of Internacional de Madrid doesn't appear to indicate that they have a reserve or youth squad. From what I understand in the history on their website (my Spanish is horrible), they did have youth teams but a few years back had to scale down. From their website, it doesn't appear that they have an academy or even youth teams and only have one squad - the first team.
I also checked the website of the Madrid Football Federation which they are under. Internacional de Madrid appears to have only one team, however, they are affiliated with Enmedio de Moraleja. Enmedio has a full youth set-up, which includes Juvenil, Cadete, Benjamin levels. Those are youth categories in Spain, Benjamin if I'm not mistaken is U7 or thereabouts. I doubt they are sending one of Enmedio's youth squads for this match. Besides, if they were sending one of Enmedio's youth teams they wouldn't be referred to as Internacional de Madrid. Even the colors and crests of their teams are different.
Still, I find it strange that they have a fixture the following day and their website has no notice or explanation (at least any that I can find) whether that has been rescheduled, they will forfeit or send another squad. They do have an official statement on the match here on Saturday. I do hope it is the first team that is going to play here.
Perhaps someone in the know can shed more light?
