Yup, I think they are considering the Dayton Dutch Lions FC in Ohio of the USL and not the Columbus Crew. They have a smaller stadium and a competitive professional level team, although a step lower than MLS. Ohio has a very small Filipino population, although if they market it right, they can tap the bigger potential Filipino community in Michigan just north of Ohio.

At the back of my mind, the national team could consider if they have to have TV coverage of all their matches during this camp, like they did in Dubai. But would they be able to do so if they just play a USL team or a weak CONCACAF team like the USVI?

I'm unsure if the Azkals would want to play the Columbus Crew in their home turf in Ohio. The Filipino community in the Ohio state is quite small IIRC, and it would be deemed impossible to fill the 20,000-capacity Columbus Crew Stadium, depending though if Filipinos from neighboring states in the East coast and the Midwest would want to travel there. I think a USL Pro team is feasible though. That would be a cost-effective match if you ask me. From a perspective standpoint, in Raleigh NC, the Carolina Railhawks, which is a USL team, once hosted the Mexican National team, and it was the senior team at that. About 3 weeks ago, they beat the Galaxy at home in the US Open Cup. So teams in the USL are no push-overs.

I thought you are from Chicago. That is a long way to travel for a game. If most Filipinos were like you, we can easily fill up most stadiums over here.

mrbiik, atlienace - taga NC (Raleigh) naman ako ... i was just in West Michigan last week, it was a 13 hour drive. Add in 2 hours to Chicago, it would be 15 hours for me. Are you both set to go? What date you are looking at and for how many days you are staying in Chicago?

Just wanted to mention that the games schedule has not been announced yet. Only the Chicago Fire game, if it pushes through will definitely be in Chicago. The other games might be played in neighboring states as well which might be slightly closer or farther to where you are at so I would wait and and not make plans until the schedules are officially announced. If possible, I might even message you guys if I find out the details earlier. Right now, everything is tentatively scheduled in the latter half of August.

Ok guys there is a player that might be in this trip. Initials are N.S. Info is from Ace Bright. Might be a Filipino/UFL player now who is going to Chicago or another NEW foreign based player. Anyone have info?

The name initials are not matching in the scouting list either. Hmmm... must be someone new.
