LONDON -- I may sound very killjoy but there is a big possibility that England's football superstar David Beckham might not play for the LA Galaxy against the Philippine Azkals when they meet in a friendly match in Manila.
The LA Galaxy-Philippine Azkals clash is set on December 3 at the Rizal Memorial stadium, and there are few reasons why Beckham may not suit up for Galaxy.
Beckham's five-year contract with Galaxy is expiring in December and there's a number of European teams running after his services in spite of his very ripe age of 36.
In England alone, the club of his father--the Tottenham Hotspurs--has been courting him since last year. He even tried to get a loan contract with the Spurs and practice with them during the Major League Soccer's (MLS) off-season.
Galaxy and Spurs did not agree with the money and Beckham failed to get a loan deal. Queen's Park Rangers (QPR), now owned by Malaysian billionaire Tony Fernandez is also reportedly trying to get Becks' signature seriously.
But the most serious interest of all comes from outside England. French League top team Paris St. Germain is bent on signing up Becks. PSG's current Brazilian general manager Leonardo and Becks worked together in AC Milan during his stint with the Italian giants.
Acquired by cash-rich Qatar Investments this year, PSG is reportedly offering a five million Euro two year contract to Becks. Filipino teener Alphonse Areola is the fast rising goalie for the French side.
But there are persistent rumours that Becks may end up playing in England in the last years of his career. He has been tapped to form and coach the Team Great Britain for the Olympics here in London next year.
Team GB has not played football together as one since time immemorial. Top U-23 players from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will form the team that will compete against the team which qualified for the Olympic games.
I would love to see Becks play in Manila especially against Phil Younghusband. If you remember some years back, Phil tried out for Galaxy but failed to make it to the club. This is the best time for Phil to show Galaxy what they missed.
Becks is in the twilight of his career and he has lost several steps.
However, lots of Filipino football fans would still love to see him. He is a sports and a fashion icon. He is also an exemplary dad and a good example to all men.
If Becks signs for a team in England or France, he will definitely miss the Azkals match. Then the Filipino fans will be deprived of once in a lifetime experience.
Galaxy is also trying to persuade Beckham for a contract extension. Becks and his wife Victoria and their children love the glitz and glamour of LA. Becks also loves the LA Lakers.
LA Galaxy would still love to keep him. He is a multi-million dollar brand and he is the reason why Galaxy has become a household name all over the world. He is also the reason why millions of Galaxy Herbalife shirts are sold worldwide. I even got one for my wife.
Even if Becks will not play in Manila, the Galaxy vs Azkals match will still be very interesting. Robbie Keane and Landon Danovan are still with them. Danovan is still the best US footballer today and Keane still remains a threat in front of the goal.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed and pray that Becks will extend his contract with the Galaxy. GOD BLESS l.

This is quite confusing. I understand Tom Payne has said they will bring the full squad in Manila, including Becks. And we already know these clubs have been courting him since last year. Are we still getting a possibility that him signing for a club earlier than usual would lose our dream to see him in action in the PI?
