Yeah, two draws and a win could still see us advancing with 5 points. How is that possible... ;D2 draws & a win is equivalent to5 points, our qualification depends on the other teams in our group if any team other than the azkals has the same 5 points then the team with the best goal-difference would be the team to advance to the next round together with the other top team of the group ,top two teams of the group will advance ;D

Yeah it all depends on the other teams' results. But it's not impossible with 5 points (that's our points tally in the group stage of the Suzuki Cup).

looking at the series of photos courtesy of mr. burrows at pinoyfootball.com, the azkal wall collapsed even before the ball was kicked that became myanmar's lone goal. this grave error shouldnt have happened at this level. Good point !! I wonder how often the squad practice dead ball situations like that. From what I gathered they seem a little unorganize in that department... I know Myanmar had plenty of practice on that pitch when it comes to free kicks. Is Phil YH our only deadball freekick specialist? I know apart of Real Madrid's strategy is to draw fouls as often as they can around the penalty box,, a lot of their goals comes from freekick around the penalty box.

Something tells me that if Myanmar had lost, MRTV would not have given permission to ABS-CBN to re-broadcast the match. And I think a big factor that worked in Myanmar's favour is the home field advantage. Also.....luck.
But I predict a big chance that we will beat Bangladesh. Also, after reading the posts on the Palestine thread, I'm more confident that the Azkals will do well against Palestine.

The reason that the Burmese did not broadcast the game live is in case there were demonstrations or other activities embarassing to the junta, they can always cut off the broadcast. They are spooked by what is going on in the middle east right now. If we had a television crew there, they could not control it either so this is their way of managing information.

had just watched the match .. Kudos to Azkals! special commendation to Neil . I really miss De Jong, Chris Greatwich, and Phil YH... with their respective vital role in the team. on the lighter note, James "earthquake" YH goals at 76' then an aftershock followed at 90+ 3' Azkals wall was not sturdy enough to withstand the tremors has collapsed ..then myanmar took the chance of kicking in and was able to goal!..

After watching the AzKal-Myanmar match replay last night, all I could say is that the AzKals defense is still (due to the newspeak in this forum) doubleplusungood .
The midfield defense is just not there and flank defense is virtually non existent. Everytime our attacks breakdown (which are usually more often than not) the midfield makes no effort to slow down the counters in order to help the back four organize themselves. The back four defensive stops are individualistic and not a team effort with most of the time "leave-it-to-Neil" mentality. The team and defensive discipline that had made the AzKals and Philippine football popular to the "madlang people" are no longer very much existent.
The problem with our current ambition (fluidity in attack) is the lack of the technicality of the offensive players. Unlike Vietnam and Indonesia, our team just couldn't hold on to possessions in the midfield and to that effect doesn't know when the attacks would probably break down and the defense could not prepare for such eventuality. A high back line is based on the foundation that you could not lose possession in the midfield, you push your defenders up in order to have your midfielders more passing options. If you lose possession in midfield, most of the time, your defense is not prepared, these are one of the tenets of the pressing game and quick counters.
I am longing to watch this current game style against much better teams than the AzKals (Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore) and if ever they would still apply such style. Again, I don't see any defensive mentality on the first half against Myanmar, it is still very offensive with most of the time being pressed by the Myanmar offense.
@cj and @ curtlance
what's your take on the replay last night?

Sorry but the replay happened while I was at work here in the US, so I can't really make an appraisal of the game. I will leave that to those who saw the game.

I watched the delayed telecast last night as well. We were really bad in the first half I thought. We kept on hoofing the freaking ball. We hardly had any possession. Their wingers were raping our fullbacks. We were very lucky to be 0-0 at half time.
In the 2nd half, we played so much better. We passed the ball much better, and controlled the match. Angel Guirado is a beast. What a fantastic addition to our team. Big, strong, quick, and very skillful. It's just a shame though, that we gave them a chance to equalize. We should have just kept possession, & wasted time in the last few minutes.

the last two subs should have been sent in during injury time, a substitution takes a minute, thus two minutes eaten up out of the three minute injury time. this is basic timewasting, maybe the staff was caught at the euphoria of winning that match and forgot!!!!

well, i have not ;D but it seems he is so pissed at the wall for letting the ball pass through them. look at his reaction right after the goal. it seems he would like to eat all of those comprising the wall.
kaya siguro nagka diarrhea siya the night before the Palestine game. isang araw siguro siyang nag isip paano kakaining walang suka suka(vinegar) ang taga wall niya.
