That was a cracker of a match for the Azkals. A late goal winner is always exhilarating for the fans. Kudos to Guirado and Lucena who were part of the build up. Chieffy made a great goal to compensate for his bad touch earlier. EdSa did well to parry the attempt of Vietnam to equalize.
Now, if the Malditas win later the LA Viking Cup, then it would be a most memorable day for Philippine football.
Go Philippines!

BTW, I'm still not sold on the starting lineup and subs for this game. Maybe the YH brothers would be better off as subs early in the 2nd half. Was Mulders subbed out because of an injury? I thought that was odd that he was the one subbed first, he was playing decently although not as good as in the first game (lots more incomplete passes this time). Both YH brothers should have been subbed out earlier, they just weren't themselves in there. The Star Sports commentators noticed that many of our players weren't fit enough to play the full 90.

the match wasnt pretty but i dont care. Azkals won! Chieffy still has it. Great save Sacapano! Cant wait for tickets for the semis to go on sale! Please don't jinx the Azkals. Myanmar is no pushover. We have never beaten them and they drew Vietnam the last game. Let us talk semis if we can get a result from the next match. Congrats to the Philippines. One more game to go.

i'm just overjoyed! the goal was full of drama..imagine, the captain having not to start..may criticisms of his boy-dulas moments in the thai game. then came in( I personally wanted either marwin angeles or christaens to come in), then when all everybody's hope was lost, the man which we all least expected to score, scored in the last minutes of the game! just full of drama..great game! i was shaking from the 1st whistle up until the last whistle blew.. 4 minutes of stoppage time seemed forever.. great win! well-deserved!

RE: Angel's wasted chance in front of goal. The Star Sports commentators suggested he should have just held the ball a moment longer because the last VIE defender was making a sliding block and once he missed the ball Angel could just dink the ball over or around the VIE GK.

Kaya pasalamatan natin ang Azkals for allowing Filipinos to enjoy this beautiful game of football in our lifetime. We need a win this Friday to enjoy the Suzuki Cup until December.

Hoping for Thailand to win over Myanmar. Let Thailand take all of the 9 points. It will be a lot easier for the Azkals to reach the semis if Thailand wins all its matches. If that happens, we need only to draw with Myanmar.
Go Azkals!

Nice job by the defence today by the way. Ed is proving that he can deputize capably in goal without Neil and Roland and the rest of the defence was very solid.

AFF Suzuki Cup. Vietnam must be sick and tired of playing the Philippines. 2010's 2-0 loss duly followed by today's 1-0 defeat #Azkals

Good win Azkals! i think coach is using all players in the 22 man rosters albeit injury and GK to minimize fatigue. You can only rest too much in a short amount of time, thus the substitution patterns.

Or he should have passed it to wolf then it would have been an open goal.

I feel for the Vietnam coach. The loss must really hurt a lot especially from a very proud footballing nation. But that's football for you. You win some, you lose some.
