Are you sure he got some Filipino parentage? As much as it is a Filipino surname, Maupay is also a French surname. Unless he or someone close to him confirms that he got some Filipino ancestry. In his FB account, all of his friends whose surname is Maupay are all whites or Caucasian none appears to be Asian looking.

As of now, he has 7 caps for Nice's Senior Team with 1 goal and has 112 minutes of play time. He is a sub usually subbed in in the dying minutes of the game. This is for 2012-2013 season. In the 2nd team, he a 7 caps with 7 goals and has 601 minutes of play time.
From his surname, it's a Filipino surname but in some websites, I saw his nationality only French as of this time. This still confuses me Well if this is true that he has Filipino blood, then it's a gem for us. I hope PFF will start contact this guy or else France will get him. At a young age, for sure, he won't yet accept NT requests as of this time but who knows. I do hope he'll play for us soon I hope it is confirmed he has Filipino blood so my confusion will end

Too young,to be capped internationally. I say let's call him up if he reaches 18-19 years old. But he is a good addition to our u-23/u-22 squad though. But either way he is a good addition to the azkals

Too young,to be capped internationally. I say let's call him up if he reaches 18-19 years old. Not really. Other players including Fil Austrian player David Alaba was capped at about the same age(15 or 16), preventing the Azkals and other teams he was eligible to play for from doing the same. In fact I expect Sandro Reyes, if he continues to progress, to do the same when he reaches that age. However, even if Neal Maupay is eligible to play for us, I doubt that he will make a decision this early, especially while he is still a member of the national youth teams of France.

Can someone confirm this? An Azkal Fan shared this on PHL Azkals FB Page by: Jonathan Betia "Verify nyu muna mabuti para di tayo umasa... Kasi may nagsabi na si Neal Maupay ng OCG Nice ng Ligue 1 ay French-Pinoy pero sya n rin nagconfim sakin sa personal account nya na Franco-Argentin sya."
Don't know if this is true but just sharing I hope this is not true

Don't know if this is true but just sharing I hope this is not true I also have doubts with Neal Maupay's supposed Filipino heritage. I accessed his FB account and viewed his friends whose surname are Maupay. None of his Maupay relatives looks like Filipino, they are all white Caucasians. As I said before in my previous post "Maupay" is much as it is a Filipino surname it is also a very much a French surname. With the post of Azkal Jonathan Betia who I understand is based in France and can speak French in PHL Azkal FB Page strengthen my assumption. Apparently, when he asked Neal, the player denied that he got Filipino blood instead told him that he is French-Argentine. Neal is listed as Filipino by Ceroacero, a database website for football but I doubt its veracity. Like its contemporary, Transfermarkt it seems all the info they put in their websites are not 100% accurate. For instance, speaking of market values of our goalkeeper Neil Etheridge which I think not right and outdated. Before Neil was loaned by Fulham to Bristol Rovers his market value £450,000 which remains when he returned to Fulham despite his impressive spells he had with the Rovers.
