Acc. to inquirer reporter Cedelf Tupas, the AFC has accepted UFL champion @globalfc_PHL into the AFC Presidents Cup competition this year(2013).
The entry of @globalfc_PHL marks the first time a club from Philippines has been accepted into the competition
This has been confirmed by team manager Dan Palami in a tweet that included the official AFC acceptance photo:
Looking forward to Global FC's participation in the AFC President's Cup 2013... pic.twitter.com/6q5YcmqN
This is good news for professional football in the Philippines as it provides more chances for our players to gain international experience and adds another competition for our growing fanbase to follow. The Singapore Cup experience allowed our league a chance to see where they stand vis a vis against other ASEAN clubs. This event takes it a step further by allowing our clubs to compete against teams outside ASEAN. Hoping they can surprise in this tournament just like they did in the Singapore Cup.

Global FC becomes first Philippine club in AFC President's CupJanuary 3, 2013 9:59pm UFL champions Global FC became the first team to represent the Philippines in the AFC President's Cup, it was announced Thursday, with club chairman Dan Palami tweeting out a picture of the letter of approval from AFC General Secretary Dato Alex Soosay. The AFC President's Cup is an annual tournament founded in 2005 which pits the champion teams of "emerging nations" against one another. In the tournament's brief history, Tajikistan has emerged victorious four times, with one runner-up performance. Kyrgyzstan is the second most prolific nation with two first place finishes, and four runners-up placings. Tajikistan side Regar TadAZ has won the title three times, though the 2012 edition of the competition was one by another team from that country, Istiqlol. Global FC had won the UFL championship in June of 2012, trumping Kaya FC on goal difference. The team boasts of numerous members of the national side known as the Azkals, including Denis Wolf, Marwin and Marvin Angeles, Carli de Murga, Demitrius Omphroy and Patrick Reichelt. The group stage of the tournament is currently slated for May 2 to 12. - AMD, GMA News www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/288730/sports/football/global-fc-becomes-first-philippine-club-in-afc-president-s-cup
The tournament date is as follows: - May 2 - 12 = Group Stage (No conflict with Azkals Games but could be conflict with UFL games ? )
- Sept 23 - 29 = Final Stages (No FIFA match days with these dates)

I presume the UFL will continue with its fixtures while Global is having their stint in the President's Cup, much like Loyola had in the Singapore Cup.
Last Peace Cup, the Chinese Taipei squad was under-manned as most of their best local players were on club duty with Taiwan Power in the President's Cup final round. Now that Global is in the fray and should they qualify for the final draw, would this scenario happen too?
Also, there might be concerns on whom should Dan Palami field during the tourney as rules state of a limit on foreign players (i.e. those who don't carry a PHL passport). Last year, the AFC only allowed two. If this rule applies on this edition, this might be a trouble for the manager on whom he should release and acquire during the transfer window. Looks interesting, though.

2013 becoming a busy year for Philippine football can only be good for the development of the sport in the country. Considering that most of the Filipino players of Global are Azkals, this will give more exposure to them at the international club level.

i don't think limiting with only two foreign players each team will affect Global's campaign. Hoshide and Izo will remain and the rest can compete. they have more than 10 Filipino players who are also a good options at the starting XI. they can loan out Gier and Juani to make their defense more solid. i even wanted to see Juani and Gier stay and play in our league permanently but that's impossible for now

Global FC are looking to add a few local players (on loan or new signings) to their roster in anticipation of the cap on foreigners for the AFC President's Cup. Participating teams are allowed to list five foreigners but can only play two in a match. Currently, Global has foreigners Izzo El Habbib (Sudan), Ben Starosta (Poland), Yu Hoshide (Japan), James Gardner (Scotland), Val Kama (Ghana), Angge Tressor Guisso, Delon Patrick Yao, and Roland Sadia (the last three are from the Ivory Coast) who are all mainstays in their rotation. They are apparently looking into loaning Army FC’s Ed Sacapaño for their AFC President's Cup campaign while making also inquiries about Ateneo’s Nick O’Donnell and Carlo Liay among other players. O’Donnell and Liay have been tabbed by Kaya FC in the UFL’s March transfer window. bleachersbrew.blogspot.com/2013/03/sacapano-to-global-other-reinforcements.html

Global loaned Matthew Uy to Stallions, maybe part of the negotiation of acquiring De Jong. Uy should have stayed because he is eligible to play for this Cup. i was expecting that they would also loan-out their captain, Yu Hoshide. but if they can bring five foreign players, i hope it would be El Habbib,Hoshide,Starosta,Yao and Guisso. im expecting that De Jong will be fielded as a CB because of the lack of the defenders they have
