WOW! Great for this 2 clubs and good job for SG letting them join the Singapore Cup. I don't think so that the organizers will pit them against each other at the first round. This is market for the ailing S-League. Participation for the AFC Cup 2014 is also at stake here just like last year. I think they are also aiming for that.

Participation for the AFC Cup 2014 is also at stake here just like last year. I think they are also aiming for that. You should remember, though, that the Philippines is currently categorised as an "emerging" nation, which means they are only eligible for the AFC President's Cup, in which Global will be the first team to represent the country this year and in the years to come, the next UFL champions. Even if Loyola or Global would win the Singapore Cup, they will not be able to enter next year's AFC Cup, as this is made for "developing" nations like Singapore and Myanmar.

I am surprised they did not invite any Myanmar teams this year, which are stronger than Lao and Cambodian clubs and usually attract the relatively numerous expatriate Myanmar population to their games.

I am surprised they did not invite any Myanmar teams this year, which are stronger than Lao and Cambodian clubs and usually attract the relatively numerous expatriate Myanmar population to their games. I heard of rumours that complaints were filed by Singaporean fans and players to the FAS last year, especially from Woodlands Wellington when they played Kanbawza in the preliminary round. If you may remember well, the rowdy Burmese KBZ fans flocked to the hotel where Woodlands Wellington players stayed apparently for their opponents to lose concentration. That reached the organisers and forced them to send police guardians and FAS personnel to the hotel where the Loyola team stayed to prevent any untoward incident by KBZ fans.

tough draw for Loyola and Global. Warriors FC is undeniably a strong team and is the current S-League champion, but in this year's league campaign, they are at the 9th spot, eleven points behind than the current league-leader Tampines Rovers.
