There are several players here that are still in high school or are eligible to play for the youth teams. markilizer - Perhaps Sir Mark can give us a tidbit about the composition of this team.

Well this is a younger team comprised of U19/U16 pool players mixed in with a few players from our AFC qualifiers campaign (J. Houplin, M. Park, H. Cooke, P. Impelido, N. Alquiros, S. Nierras, C. delos Reyes, A. Mondero, M. Benitez).
As most of you probably know by now, the timeframe of the AFF Women's Championships conflict with the NCAA College season back in the states, which is the reason you don't see a number of our regulars. (EX: Lee, Shugg, Dela Cruz, Brown, Cook, Salvacion, Deleon, Lim, etc).
We hope to have those players available for the Southeast Asian Games (pending of course, we're chosen by POC and PSC to partake).
Right now, this roster is at 23. By the time the team flys out to Myanmar, it'll be cut down to 20.

Pretty sure though you have a good understanding of our US based players Sir Mark. While some of the players are comprised of U19/U16, it appears some of them are rated players in the US among their classmen. Is it Sir markilizer? If the squad is at 23, is someone from the US based player/s not making the trip to Manila? There are actually some players worth noting here like Chalise Baysa and Natalie Sanderson who have had good collegiate careers. According to a "social media friend" he would put Dominique Oro ahead of Maria Dela Cruz in the picking order for the GK spot so I think we have an able player as our GK. Unfortunately Cat Barnekow suffered an injury a few weeks back as I believe she would have been called for national duty.

Yes, even though some of the girls are young, they all play high level youth club soccer in the states, whether it be in the Elite Club National League(ECNL), Super Y-League, or the US National League. Personally, I think they'll be fine in Myanmar. Of course, we'll have to rely heavily on our veterans like Houplin, Park, Cooke, Impelido to lead the younger ones.
In all honesty, I was kind of surprised to see Raylene and Dominique's name on the list. Not because they're not deserving. Just because both girls are playing college soccer right now.
Marielle's inclusion was also surprising. She recently had a knee injury and hasn't really been playing that much.
I don't know too much about Natalie or Chalise. It'll be interesting to see how they fit in. Both girls had good collegiate careers, but that was +5 years ago.
I would have loved to see more girls from the Pinay Futbol League included on the roster. Like Ladero, Camille Rodriguez, Marice Magdolot, Bernal, Choa Peck, Tiu, Kali Huff, Yniguez, Metillo, etc. Hopefully in time, that will be the case.
Unfortunately, Cat has quietly announced her "retirement" from soccer. She wants to focus on her life after the sport. Of course when we heard the news, there was a sense of shock and sadness. However, we respect her decision and wish her the best.

My initial concern about this lineup since its practically a young team is how they will do in Myanmar and if they don't perform to our "expectation" PSC/POC will say they don't deserve to go for the SEA games.
Cat's case of "retirement" will be the challenge for the Malditas in keeping talented and experienced footballers for the National Team. As with her case most if not all current and future NT players will go on a different path other than football. Practically to continue playing football is not just feasible as a way of living for women. We don't have a professional league locally and even in the US I don't know if it pays enough for them to earn a living. This will be the challenge for the Malditas as I see going forward. We just have to rely on these talented collegiate players while they are still in school to carry the flag for us. I still think we won't have a significant drop off in quality as many talented players will come to fore. That said it is always good to have players who have been battled scarred and have been tested in the international arena. I do hope we can still keep players who performs well in international meets to be with the team.
Hopefully, Pinay Futbol League will blossom and grow as a professional league one day. Perhaps the exhibition match between the Malditas and the PFL allstars will give coach Ernie the chance to see if any of them deserve a call to the NT pool.
As with some members of the pool I think there is/are player/s that are no longer good enough to play in the senior team. Just like the Azkals, the bar have been raised upon the arrival of the US based Pinays. IMHO even high school players in our US pool of players are good or even better than the best collegiate players in the country (UAAP/NCAA). I just feel coach Ernie is just keeping them so as not to take more heat from local coaches of not taking local based players. The PFL or any women's league will play an important role in elevating our local based players level of play that can match the standards set forth or foreign based Pinays. Having said that I personally want a few standouts who are locally based to be included in the final lineup. As for me I always believe in fielding the best possible lineup regardless of where they are based.

I don't know who was available and who was left off. In the past, financial considerations determined how many players came from overseas. Barnekow and Cordero were standouts at the Viking Cup. Both have left competitive football to move on with their careers. What can we offer to university graduates to ask them to put their lives on hold to play for the Malditas? The World Cup dream is done. If they go to the SEA Games and the AFF they can look forward to 2 trips to Burma which has been a repressive poor backward dictatorship. I am sure every player dreams of playing the great footballing nations in the great stadiums. Playing in Bangladesh probably did not encourage Cat to stay with the program.
