Ceres Fc 5-1 Benguet State University Fc Second leg of semifinals tomorrow. Winner get a spot in AFC President's CupThe Smart National Championship is the qualifier for President's Cup? Not UFL? Yes, PFF Smart NAtional Club Champioship will be the qualifier not UFL , this is one of the controversial decisions by PFF, especially after NCR did not enter any team in the qualifiers. So Stallion as last year's winner of UFL will not represent Philippines in AFC President's Cup.

So Stallion as last year's winner of UFL will not represent Philippines in AFC President's Cup. PFF's prerogative I guess. UFL Ph doesn't have automatic slot except according to UFL's wiki lol. Global FC's participation as league champion afaik was because of PFF's nomination & the club's initiative. UFL was just informed after AFC approved Global's participation or so it seemed. I remember UFL ''mulled" participating in 2011 but as usual updates from them is so rare it's like nothing happened & they didn't care anyway. IMO UFL Cup's a better qualifier. UFL clubs were there + guest teams like Ceres FC.

The change is good considering that Stallion today is not as strong as last year's. It seems that it will be Global once more to President's Cup!

BTW, no TV coverage for this? Last year, it was shown over at AKTV. How about this year? No Aksyon TV? Nothing?

Defending champions Ceres-La Salle FC remain on track of their title retention bid as they pulled off a 2-1 victory against the Azkals-laden Global FC in the first leg of the finals of the PFF Smart National Club Championship 3 rd Edition at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium yesterday. Jayson Panhay's goal in the 44 th minute turned the odds into Ceres' favor after enduring a laborious first half dominated by Global FC. “Our defense was lagging and our offense was protracted as we tried to keep pace with Global's first half assault,” Ceres' assistant coach Ramon Janeo said. Noting the lapses, he said head coach Ali Go made some adjustments that smoothened Ceres progress that finally broke Global's defense and led to Panhay's late goal in the first half. Receiving a pass about 20 yards from the goal's mouth, Panhay smoothly sent the ball in as Global goalkeeper Roland Sadia slipped and failed to block the shot. Global remained on the offensive mode in the second half with Angel Guirado scoring the equalizer in the 54 th minute to once again put the pressure on the host team. Sticking to their game plan and keeping pace with the formidable UFL powerhouse team, Ceres had another breakthrough in the 62 nd minute as Joshua Beloya found himself unguarded for a floater that was beyond Sadia's reach. Score, 2-1, in favor of Ceres. Despite the first leg win, the defending champions need at least one more goal in the second leg tomorrow and prevent Global from scoring more than two goals to keep the championship trophy. Tomorrow's second leg will start 3 p.m. at the Panaad pitch. Match coordinator Pauline Javelona explained yesterday that the finals is on a home-and-away format and both teams have the same 2-goal aggregate as of yesterday after Ceres chose to have the second leg as their home game. Starting eleven for the Ceres – La Salle team yesterday were goalkeeper Louie Michael Casas, Korean players Byeongjun Yoon and Hyungmin Sim, Okunaiya Oladipo, seasoned booters Camelo Tacusalme, Beloya, Anthony Tongson, Panhay, Lemuel Unabia, Angelo Marasigan, and Jalsor Soriano. Global started yesterday with Sadia, Guirado, Ben Starosta, Rufo Sanchez, Misagh Bahadoran, Mark Hartmann, twins Marwin and Marvin Angeles, Jeffrey Christiaens, Jerry Barbaso, and Jason De Jong. Watching the first leg of the finals yesterday from the bleachers were Philippine Azkals head coach Michael Weiss with Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella and officials from Philippine Football Federation.*NAB www.visayandailystar.com/2013/December/20/sportnews1.htm

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation-Smart National Club Championship will resume on Thursday, January 22 for its round of eight stage at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium. The national group round of the countrywide football meet will banner the top eight football clubs that underwent the elimination round in several locations around the country during the past months. The remaining teams will be divided into two groups with the defending champions of the nationwide tourney Ceres-La Salle FC seeded in Group A while UFL champs Global are in Group B. Meanwhile, remaining teams Loyola FC and Kaya FC, both representing the UFL and the NCRFA, will form Group A together with Laos FC of Leyte. M'lang FC of North Cotabato, Erco-Brothers FC of Cebu and Stallion FC of Iloilo will form the rest of Group B. "I think its a tough group but I think I'm getting used to it because we always end up in a tough group. I think its gonna be very exciting and we're looking forward to it," said Ceres FC club director Ali Go during the pre-tournament press conference at the PFF headquarters. He added that they cannot be complacent. "Pressure is always there especially now were back-to-back champions. But anything can happen," he stated. Consequently, local football powerhouse Global FC, who is still yet to add a national crown unto their list of victories, aims to take their rivals on their group head on. "We cannot be complacent. We'll prepare the same for the Stallion game and with the other teams. We're not taking this group lightly," according to head coach Leigh Manson. Group A will have matches on the 22nd and the 24th while Group B will have their games on the 23rd and 25th. The first match date on Thursday for Group A will feature a bout between Loyola FC and Laos FC followed by Ceres FC versus Kaya FC. Admission is free for all the games for the tournament. –
