Will this game end the Philippines win drought against Malaysia or will it end the same fate as the first two matches? FIND OUT! I am looking at this roster and it's a very good roster, even without the European-based players. If Dooley can employ the same passing and attacking style from the match last March, I feel positive that we can leave with a victory this time. Back in March, the players were just getting used to the new system. Now, they've got to feel pretty comfortable with it because they've had plenty time to adjust ... Just stay away from those desperate, long ball tactics and don't mess around with the lineup too much, and you should be just fine, Thomas. ?

Will this game end the Philippines win drought against Malaysia or will it end the same fate as the first two matches? FIND OUT! ...or will we be defeated by Malaysia... This is a good game to have as I think Malaysia as a football crazy country is probably very pissed off they can't seem to beat the Philippines in "their" own game. Very happy for this game and very disappointed about the Nepal game. I'd have loved to see a HK vs Philippine match instead. I really like the roster but I wish Dooley starts to finalize his primary and secondary rosters for the big tourney at the end of the year. As an example, I mean playing de Murga at RB(to get him some meaningful playing time at his natural position) rather than sticking him at CM like last time. If not at least play him at RM where the 2 positions are more similar. I think playing some random new player at some random position isn't what we should be doing at this point of our preparation.

Isn't De Murga naturally a midfielder? That's the position he was playing in Spain wasn't it? Before Weiss got a hold of him and played him at right back? Honestly, the way Rota has been playing, Simone deserves that right back spot. He not only has the size, but the technique to go with it, too. He's a very intelligent player and is conscious of the positioning of his teammates and the space around him. He keeps it simple. He knows when to pass the ball and how long to keep it. Ok, it's pretty obvious I'm a big fan of him. ? But yes, Dooley does need to stick to a set lineup now that it's end of the year and it's not far away from Suzuki Cup. Please don't play with the lineup come tournament time!

There's more depth in the midfield than the back. So I'm in favor of keeping De Murga at RB. My starting backline would be De Murga + Gier + Rota + Sato.

Now that I think about it, it would be good to keep Carli at rightback, since the midfield is stacked. He would have to earn that spot back from Rota though. He'll definitely be playing deputy. I just don't enjoy watching De Murga sit on the bench, since he's played so well for the national team. I'm really curious what's going on with Alvaro Silva, if he's going to join the team at all in October? I've been checking his Twitter, and he seems to be wrapped up with his club. He hasn't mentioned anything about the Azkals. Que paso con este muchacho?

Friendly has been cancelled Amazing. Last Suzuki Cup, the team had a full plate of friendlies leading up to the tournament, even outside of FIFA dates. This year, they can't even fill those dates. I'm interested to see what happens come tournament time. In 2012, they had all the European-based players and failed to take the title, despite all that talent because of, what I consider, some pretty adolescent, long ball tactics that undermined the talent and experience of the players. This year, they've got a very good lineup filled with local talent that have played well under Dooley's new system of team football with players passing the ball and working hard for each other. Hardly any matches though to fine tune anything. My superstitious mind is telling me right now that this might serve as a good omen ... that the exact opposite might happen this year. They might actually win the whole thing. They'll start off slow but then gain momentum as the tournament progresses and then peak at the right moment ... in the final.

Mr Jonny, where did you get the info that the Malaysia friendly was cancelled? www.goal.com/en-my the fixture is there.. THE friendly between the national team and the Philippines on Oct 11 has been postponed indefinitely with the Malaysia Cup final brought forward a week earlier to Nov 1 to accommodate Dollah Salleh’s request for more time with his trainees before the AFF Cup. The Malaysia Cup quarter-final second leg, originally scheduled on Oct 17-18, has been brought forward to Oct 10-11. The semi-final first leg is slated for Oct 17-18 followed by the return leg on Oct 24-25. FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah hopes the change of schedule will help Dollah prepare a solid team for the AFF Cup next month. “Dollah will gather his trainees on Nov 2 or 3 for three matches against the Philippines, Syria and Vietnam before the competition. I want only the best from the team,” said Tengku Abdullah after chairing the national team management committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. With the latest development, next week’s centralised training at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya has been cancelled. Dollah said: “I am happy my wish has been granted. I felt it was pointless to have the trainees gather for one week and play an international match before returning to their respective clubs for the Malaysia Cup. “I thank FAM for rescheduling the Malaysia Cup. I will have about three weeks with the players before the AFF Cup. I will scout for players and name 25 trainees for next month’s centralised training. The former international also disclosed that Sarawak midfielder Joseph Kalang Tie has requested not to be part of the AFF Cup squad as he is getting married on Nov 15. “It is a waste as Joseph was part of my plans for the tournament. His services will be missed but I have other options,” Dollah added. By Ajitpal Singh www.nst.com.my/node/39897

It's Frustrating to see our Neighbors playing against Quality teams in Friendly's while our azkals are missing out on some very important Tune - up Matches for the AFF Suzuki Cup...
