The mens's national football team is all set for the their bout against the national football team of Cambodia, head coach Thomas Dooley said in a press conference on Thursday, November 13. "I believe in my players that's why I am not scared." Dooley told the media. "But I am a little bit concerned because of the mistakes we did in the previous match. We cannot make those mistakes for the next game and for the Suzuki cup. We want take care about those mistakes for the next games." He added the Cambodian team will be a perfect team to play against before the team leaves for the big tournament later this month. "We wanna play against a team that is difficult to play against but not too difficult. Its always important to have a home game before leaving for a big tournament." The former skipper of the US men's national football team, on the other hand, stated "the team is playing nice football. Our players are good enough to be the best team. But you have to be aggressive from start to finish. If we can do that, I am confident with our team. We can be successful not just in the suzuki cup but also for the future tournaments." Dooley stressed that defense will be the team's focus going into the match. "I want less shots on goal. Defenders have to do whatever they can to do their job." However, he revealed that the services of goalkeepers Roland Muller and Neil Etheridge will not be available until after the group stage. The friendly between the two national squads comes as part of the series of games to boost the Azkals' preparations going into the Suzuki Cup. www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/football/74918-azkals-ready-cambodia-friendlyHopefully goalkeeper Patrick Deyto is up to the task during the group stage.

28' Younghusband wins another corner as his shot was tipped over by the goalkeeper!
29' Bahadoran should have scored with the header but the lineman raised his flag for offside
30' Early substitution: Juani Guirado for Rob Gier. Phil Younghusband is now wearing the captain's armband.
Acc. to comments, So far, Steuble and Ott are controlling the traffic in the middle of the park. 32'
Now 2-0 Ott scored of a rebound after Phil's shot was saved. 40'
HT 2-0
Apparently Gier was subbed early because of a minor injury and for precautionary reasons.
2nd half kick-off Mulders in for Reichelt
53' Hartmann with plenty of space gets to curve the ball to the far post but it flew wide.
60' Deyto with two timely saves to deny Cambodia.
61' Substitution: Chris Greatwich replaces Martin Steuble.
74' Substitution: Kenshiro Daniels replaces Simone Rota
75' Almost for Cambodia but Deyto makes a slight touch to send the ball to the post and out.
Substitution: Simon Greatwich replaces Mark Hartmann
82' Ott breaks free from the defense but his shot was saved.
83' Substitution: Tomas Trigo makes his Azkals debut replacing Patrick Deyto.
Dooley is certainly not afraid of making subs(5 so far). Under Weiss, we rarely had subs, because he wanted to get as good a result as possible even during friendlies.
Phil YH misses a sitter after fine work by Kenshiro Daniel on the right. Still 2-0 for Azkals.
87' Chance for Chris Greatwich with a shot to the far post, but was wide.
90' GOAL! Phil Younghusband caps the result with a last minute goal! 3-0 That is @philyhusband's 40th international goal for the Philippines.
FT 3-0

That goal from Sato was a bullet from long range. Very strong. The moment he approached the ball, I knew he's gonna attempt a shot albeit from afar because he's capable of doing it.
Lots of miscommunication from the Azkals. Nobody wants to get the ball!

Tsk3x... another empty rizal... ug sa cebu pa ni, puno na pud unta ang abellana... I think it's safe to say that the venues anywhere in the Visayas would be filled should the Azkals play there. The hotbed of Philippine football is in these islands, afterall. Nevertheless, I'm just glad to see that there's considerable support (and growing at that) for the Azkals in Manila despite the preference of many locals for basketball. Anyway, tonight's game was great. Second half was a bit lackluster compared to the first but the latter part really made up for it with successive goal attempts with Phil delivering the third score. The Cambodian team improved a lot since their 8-0 loss last year. I'm actually glad the opponent gave the Azkals a good fight, lest we could've seen a repeat of last year's steamrolling (which would've been boring to watch the second time, personally).

It's really upsetting to have just a few supporters present ... especially when Chieffy is being honored at halftime. He deserves to be recognized by a much larger audience for all he's done for the national team. So, praise to the real football fans in Metro Manila. Football in Manila: A waste of time and money. I was honestly hoping they wouldn't renovate Rizal, so the national team could play games in venues where they are appreciated, specifically the Bisayas. Now, the new turf is in after a long wait. So, I guess we're stuck.
