Not bad considering the Philippines left their professionals(because of the WC qualifiers) behind and brought mostly a bunch of university kids. The host team Singapore had an entirely pro team(some of whom played for the Lions XII team that won the Malaysian FA Cup this year) and should have dominated, but the Filipinos made it hard on them. The young local players have improved a lot, but need more exposure internationally and professionally.

I agree, they played well. But of course, there are things to work on for the upcoming games. Nevertheless, if this is the future of the Azkals things are looking pretty good. They started the second half beautifully, at times looking the technically superior team. But I believe they sapped their momentum with one too many sloppy passes, conceding possession too often. In the end they exerted too much effort to make up for them and the match ended with Singapore looking like the fitter team. Singapore know how to play "the game" too, getting away with several card-worthy cheap shots. I'm glad our team's composure didn't boil over into something ugly, but that aspect of the game is something they need to learn how to handle. The front third is a perennial problem for Philippine football but we had our moments in this match, though. I thought we created maybe three golden chances that we unfortunately didn't capitalize on. But I dare say Singapore was the bigger criminal in that regard. But yes, things are looking good! A few more practices and games together and we should see their confidence rise.

i had to follow updates of the game through twitter since im at work. when i checked my phone, it was only 1-0 at HT. this made me excited to see the FT score after my shift. though we lost, i credit our team for standing strong against the home side. just wondering who is our CB's? are they ready enough to maybe get a call-up to senior team and play with Aguinaldo? this is very exciting! i've decided to request a day-off on Wednesday to have a chance to watch the game live. heard that Amita had an impressive game. let's go young azkals!

This probably one of the most versatile team we had in years. I think some of our players in the U23 plays at least 2 positions. Our defensive backs are really good in displaying their dribbling skills. Doesnt really get rattled. I think in terms of passing and dribbling they might a little better than Aguinaldo. Santos our RB, man he's good. I havent seen in a while a technically skilled, local right back moving forward. Wow... This guy is a prospect for that position. In 2 years we'll probably see him don the seniors uniform. Also, Badelic and Bugas what can I say with those 2. In some instance I see both Amita and Bugas dispossessing Singaporean midfield relentlessly and even tackeld Irfan. That is the kind of swagger we need for our future team. Alquiros kind of nervous, lost a lot of balls. Salenga is good in the RW although didnt really threatened well, I think he needs to get more touches. His partner at the back Santos is good, both of them can really threaten any opposing teams. Part 2 later..: eat muna hehehe

^yeah. i like the Salenga-Santos tandem. Santos is good at overlap and was very disciplined to go back for defense. was he clubless? Amita controlled our midfield. very good with the ball as a CM, although his size made him easy to get disposes at times.
Clarino has the size for a CB. give him more seasoning and he, along with Aguinaldo, is our future CB's. wonder where is Grommen? the big CB is not part with the squad, together with the former captain, GK, Nick O'Donnell. he is the partner of Clarino at the back last AFC U23 Asian qualifications.
are we playing with one GK for this tourney? from what i've read, Chieng is our back-up GK but he played as a midfielder against SG

Just a quick one, let's do not underestimate Cambodia U-23, they held Thailand toe-to-toe last March 27, 2015 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. 2-1.
They're skilled and ultra-fast, Singapore isn't playing a high-octane pressing game, tonight, we can see how our boys will react to a high pressure team like the Cambodians...
My Biased Prediction: PHI 3-1 CAM (Hopefully) a complete revenge to our loss against them last March.
SIN 1-0 PHI Comments:
Strengths: Superb Goalkeeping, Composure, Ball Dribbling, Clear Point of Attack, SWAG Weakness: Balance, Defense Organization, Finishing, ... Speed (remains to be seen)
But I'm generally impressed on the quick improvements...,
Go Young Azkals! Cheers!
