I just saw the replay and, man! I was fooled by coach dooley because i thought i'm gonna see finally the combo of pyh-shrock-patino upfront but it didn't happen. But you know making pyh as a facilitator was a brilliant idea to throw off the scouting reports of the opponent. And he did a great job on the midfield. I bet bahrain coaching staffs were surprised by this as much as i am. We dont want to see anyone gets hurt especially Schrock but i thought the injury of Schrock was indeed a blessing in disguised because it further confused the bahrain's game plan. I am just happy that we already secured two of our longtime wish lister Ramsay and Palla and they did not disappoint. And Sato, I am just very impressed with this kid. He is somewhat annoying to the opponents in a good way and with his size and age, he frustrated the Bahrain players on his flank. I am happy that we got the win with a little preparation and yes, I agree that with more games to play, I hope this team will get better by understanding each other's play better. I am sure they'll improve in the next game.

Wow! what can I say?! I watched the game live and it feels great though only a handful went to see the game. My thoughts:
The 3-4-3 formation: this formation I think suits our team with the kinds of available players we have. Currently what we have are more quality midfields than our forwards and backline. That being said, in the 3-4-3 formation, the four solid midfields plus the two-false forward right beside patino, interchange and sometimes muscle in opponents midfielders. In our case if you can see the game, Schrock/Bahadoran and Steuble quickly converts from offense to defense, same with Ramsay and Palla. That puts at least 6midfields defending against 2-3 mids. I think this startegy confused Bahrain a lot, most especially in our own Third. They find it hard to attack our defense, since our deep lying mids often assist in our backline. Sometimes our 3 man backline suddenly becomes a 5 man backline. This is a formation which I think is more of a counter attacking style, although there are only a few instance which I saw its purpose. Anyway, our midfield has always been our strength even during the cHallenge cup, suzuki cup, it has been our strength. And talking about midfield I think Manny Ott really did have an impressive game yesterday. He was the one who supplied the cross and was involve in the defense of the mid. I think we need him more as much as we need a Patino or PYH. He and Phil though doesnt link up pretty well, but if really given time to jell, Will be a threat offensively and defensively.
I believe our team is one or two game away from perfecting the position and I believe will see more of it against Yemen. And for Neil, if he keeps on playing like that and giving poor clearance, we just might see Muller coming in.
And just want to quote a previous post, about the Patino-Ramsay-Schrock threat. Sayang lang, we didnt see its full Potential, probably because of the pitch? I think the pitch is kind of dry last night and Stephan being injured.
Anyway, Im excited with the prospect of our team and I believe that the best is yet to come.

just got home and for me it was worth the travel from Batangas to Bocaue & back!(ok i stayed a bit in Manila hehe). I'm so tired though from the confusion of finding the freaking Parking D!
The arena is really imposing as in the news but i prefer the stadium's aesthetics. disappointed too by the number of attendance. i was expecting more since ticketworld showed that Cat3 is almost sold out.
Etheridge's rustiness showed plenty of times & I'm really glad Misagh had a goal! The rest played good aside from the obvious miscommunications. I had a bit of a Challenge cup flashback when I saw Schrock limping but still continued playing.
There were FOUR booster squads. If you're neutral you wouldn't know that they support the same team. Ultras, Kaholeros, LOC's drummers who wore "Sinulog" shirts & UP Pep Squad, in that order. Wished they just coordinated or even just jam together instead of having some showdown, geez. The good thing is they kept the atmosphere from being silent.

Match Ratings: Philippines vs Bahrain sports.inquirer.net/184098/philippines-vs-bahrainNeil Etheridge 7 – Fantastic work from the returning No. 1. Quick off his line on a couple of occasions in the first half to unsettle advancing Bahrain strikers. Produced a couple of good saves in the second half to preserve the lead, but could do little to stop the late strike from Al Malood. Lucena 7 – Another quiet yet solid performance from the Fil-Danish veteran. Pushed back to the right side of defense, he coped well. Lost the ball at a dangerous area in the first half, but recovered quickly to snuff out the danger. Gier 7 – A vintage performance from the 34-year-old centerback who anchored the defense. Ran into trouble with a couple of over the top balls in the first half, but was largely stable throughout the match. Was substituted in the 84th minute after picking up a slight knock. Sato 7 – Continued his steady play at leftback, he pinged a couple of good balls into the box in the first half. Palla 6 – Despite arriving only last Monday night, he showed terrific workrate until he was substituted in the 65th minute in his debut. Expecting better performances from the Austrian League veteran as he plays more games for the Azkals. Ott 7 – Stayed composed and kept it simple at midfield. Won the ball beautifully several times in the middle of the park. Effectively gave Phil Younghusband the platform to thrive in his new role. Younghusband 8 (MOTM) – Considering the fact that he was playing at midfield for the first time in his Azkals career, Younghusband sparkled against a quality side. Showed wonderful technical ability and vision, he was not afraid to mix it up and win the ball at midfield. Although he had a couple of wayward long passes, he constantly switched play beautifully. Came up with the teasing ball that was finished off by Bahadoran for the opener. Steuble 6 – Provided good cover at right wingback and was able to get forward early in the first half only to fire wide with his wicked left foot. Recovered well after a ball over the top caught him out of position. Schrock 5 – Was only good for a 23-minute stint after picking up a knee injury 10 minutes into the match. Notwithstanding the injury, he showed grit by disrupting play and winning the ball at midfield before he made way for Bahadoran. Ramsay 7 – Slow start for the debuting Fil-Australian, but became a lethal outlet on the counter when the game opened up in the second half. Armed with pace, showed a willingness to get on the end of every ball, including one diagonal from Younghusband that led to the free kick that the Azkals converted for the second goal. Patino 7 – Just what the doctor ordered for the Azkals, a deadly finisher inside the box. Beat the offside trap only to send his shot to the Bahrain keeper in the 13th minute, but later atoned for that miss with an instinctive strike for the second goal. Was always a constant threat with his pace and movement. SUBS Bahadoran 7 – Came in for the injured Schrock and deservedly scored his first international goal after directing a fine ball from Younghusband inside the area. Missed a free header off a fine delivery from Ramsay that could have killed off the game. Guirado 5 – Came in for Palla in the 65th minute and did well to help see the game out, although he offered a token challenge to win the ball and was ultimately beaten by Malood on the way to Bahrain’s late goal. CFC _____ Schrock should have been rated incomplete. He was subbed out due to injury.

I wonder why kevin Ingreso was not used in the game? I was excited to see Woodlang get capped but that fifa clearance was not released early, who's to blame? I saw it on his face after the game that he was frustrated for unable to play. Hope he plays againts Yemen
