CERES-LA Salle needed a penalty shootout to dethrone Kaya FC, 8-7, on Wednesday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to arrange a final showdown with Global FC in the United Football League Cup. Goalkeeper Michael Casas saved two spot kicks, including a retake, by Woody Ugarte, before Juani Guirado struck the marginal goal in the shootout as the Busmen survived a Kaya side that fought back from a goal down even after going a man down in the second half. Ceres set up a date in the final with Global, which shut out Stallion FC, 2-0, in their Final Four matchup earlier. “In these types of games, whoever wants it more, wins,” Ceres coach Ali Go said. “And in the shootout, it was just fifty-fifty.” “Kudos to Kaya,” he added. In a rematch of last year’s Cup final, Ceres took a 3-2 lead at the half as Carli de Murga, Patrick Reichelt, and Adrian Gallardo found the net. But the Busmen squandered the cushion despite Kaya going a man down in the 61st minute when Jovin Bedic was sent off after picking up a second yellow card, with Louis Clark firing the equalizing goal 12 minutes after coming in the 58th. The match went back and forth until the final buzzer of extra time as the match headed into penalty shootout. The former Cup winners banked on two goals in the first half to prevail over the Stallions and make their first appearance in the final since 2012. Serbian defender Milan Nikolic unlocked the Stallions’ defense 29 minutes into the match before Cameroonian defender Serge Kaole doubled the lead two minutes before stoppage time. just a suggestion
How about having an UFL All Filipino Cup?? do you think guys it is a nice tournament? Replacing the foreigners will be the youth players from each team.
I believe all the teams are required to have a youth team.
We can do it after UFL league play. around Oct to Nov.

THE two best football clubs in the country rekindle their rivalry as Ceres-LA Salle and Global FC collide for the United Football League Cup on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The UFL heavyweights face off in the Cup Final at 8:15 p.m. with the winner booking a ticket to the Asian Football Confederation Cup next year. Ceres has had Global’s number in their last few meetings, but is weary from juggling the local and continental tournament, coming off a 2-1 win over Tampines Rovers in the AFC Cup, barely a week after outlasting Kaya FC, 8-7, on penalties in the UFL Cup semifinal. “Our schedule has been tight…and maybe there’s fatigue factor, but we’re doing well, so we just have to continue,” Ceres coach Frank Muescan said in the pre-match press conference on Friday. “We have a positive outlook.” Global, which blanked Stallion FC, 2-0, in the Final Four, is looking for redemption after getting suspended in the last Cup for violating the foreigner player rule. “I don’t think there’s extra motivation from what happened,” Global coach Leigh Manson insisted. “The motivation is we want to beat the team we think is our biggest rival.” Azkals teammates turn into foes as national standouts Misagh Bahadoran and Daisuke Sato face off against Manny Ott and Stephan Schrock, among others. “We’ll put everything on the field and the result will come,” Bahadoran said. Kaya and Stallion face off for third place earlier at 5:15 p.m. Read more at www.spin.ph/football/ufl/news/ceres-la-salle-global-fc-clash-for-ufl-cup#CzYMay4soXcOGQl3.99

Maybe they are waiting until the conclusion of the UAAP finals, as some of the players from the UAAP will play in the UFL League as well.

With the recent moves of Kaya and Ceres to bring Adam Reed and Roland Muller, we'll have to expect another move from Loyola or Global to bring in another Azkal player. I believe UFL is just 2-3 multinational company away from making the league competitive and stable. Imagine an Alaska team embarking on a 5 yr football program partnership with a Div1 team or an SMC team luring the likes of Ramsay. A competitive UFL will mean an increase in the league's pedigree and I hope it continues.
