This may have been answered already, but I'm wondering about the former Azkals/UFL MVPs who are not part of the team anymore (Carli De Murga, Jason De Jong)?
Are they out due to fitness/injury? Is it because they didn't mesh with Dooley's system?

Thailand has qualified for the semi-finals. Thai Coach Senamuang would still field his best players but would probably tell them not to put up much of a fight as this could result in injuries/burn-out or yellow/red cards for their players (Songkrasin, Chappuis and Dangda). They know that the Azkals' backs are against the wall and will be playing to win on home territory.
Azkals defense was terrible last night. Aguinaldo held his own but the others sadly did not. It would be better if Aguinaldo partnered with James Younghusband at central defense. JYH deserves to be in the starting line-up on Friday's crucial game. He has the experience and could take over the role Rob Gier did.
Our midfield and attacking forwards need to step-up more especially Hartmann. I heard he's been scoring goals in the Singapore league but why does he always disappear whenever he enters the pitch to play.
Let's go for the kill boys! You can do it!
I see Azkals winning 2-1.

Someone who saw John Wilkinson's observation on the midfield battle last night? There's a huge hole in the center of the Azkals midfield that the Indos exploited which made for their passing fluidity. Two Indo midfielders were there most of the time. That same hole is a position where Thailand players (especially Chanathip) score best. I hope it'll be remedied on Friday. But yeah, I have trust in Muller.

I read a conversation of a fan and coach TD about phil's positioning deep. TD told him that he suits the midfield position for his ball distribution. He even mentioned that Phil can score against the likes of chinese taipei(probably reffering to lower ranked teams). I think dooley wants to have fast and quick strikers like misagh and ott. That's why he wants phil to be deep in the midfield. One conversation also tells about JYH fitness issue. TD told the fan he can start if he starts running in practice. For me why didnt they tried JYH at RB position so we could use steuble as a mid partner of ott. I know Weiss utilize him at that position before. But lets hope and pray that coach TD still has a lot of tricks up on his sleeve this Thai game. Or else PFF would evaluate his position after affsc.

I don't think Coach Dooley has anything up his sleeves as of the moment, He is trying his very best to try to get the best fit and best line-up on the field... with the absence of Sato, Rota, Reichelt, De murga, Patino, Woodland, Palla, and Etheridge really hurts this Azkals squad for the edition of the Suzuki Cup...
Missing Sato LB, Rota RB-CB, and Palla LB really hurt our defense..
I just hope the 2 group A Fixtures on Friday would end up in Draws and see us in the Semis vs. Vietnam.
1. Thailand 7pts. 2. Philippins 3pts. 3. Indonesia 2 pts. 4. Singapore 2 pts.
Let's start to pray and hope at least the PSS will be half full to get the boys fired up knowing their countryman are with them..
Tough games ahead for the Azkals..

Bad News: The Philippines will now be black listed as a possible host for any future FIFA tournaments. Attendance last Tuesday was 2,068, down from 4339 last Saturday. There was the rumor that PFF originally wanted Rizal Stadium as the main venue, but wish full thinking make them select PSS's 20,000 capacity size. Somebody is smoking that funny weed.
If for some reason the Philippines is eliminated from the knock-out stage, PFF might just as well pack up and clean up their offices in Pasig City. This Suzuki Cup is a disaster.

There was a snafu with the buses on the first game against Singapore that the PFF arranged arriving very late(hours late) at the Trinoma bus pickup stop. This turned off many fans resulting in the lower attendance in the 2nd game. The PFF made sure this mistake was not repeated in the 2nd game, but I think many fans have had enough and decided instead not to repeat the misadventure and not show up for the 2nd game. Lack of foresight, marketing and promotion by the PFF has resulted in the less than ideal attendance for this tournament.
As for the PFF wanting to make Rizal the main venue. That was not a rumor. The AFF told them the only way they can host this event is if they have an adequate venue like the PSS. The construction of the PSS was the reason we were awarded the right to host this event in the first place and when the PFF tried to change the main venue, the AFF nearly took the hosting rights away from them.

Any source about our country being blacklisted for future FIFA tournaments? Or it's just a rumor? About the stadium, there is a regulation in AFF wherein a Suzuki Cup host country must have a stadium of at least 30,000 spectators. However, PSS is an exemption to this as PSS is a newly constructed stadium. After we host this with Myanmar, AFF will change its tournament format. About PFF, there is a news report that says that once the football facility in Carmona, Cavite is finished, PFF will transfer their office and operations there.

There is no such thing as blacklisting of countries, but just from the economic viewpoint, I don't think we will be awarded hosting duties by FIFA, AFC, or the AFF anytime soon, if we cannot prove we can attract a crowd. Other competing bids will easily win hosting rights. The only way we can presumably host an event is if no one other country where football is more popular, will be willing to host it.
Frankly I am a little bit disappointed in the lack of support from the student bodies of UAAP and NCAA. They should have spent more time mobilizing the sports fan base of those student bodies to help fill up the stadium as their numbers alone can easily fill up the stadium. Perhaps setting up posters, sending out fliers and encouraging their cheering squads and student officers to help rally their fanbase.
The PFF could also have arranged affordable travel package tours so that many of the rabid football fanbase from the Visayas could travel to the PSS just like our other SEA neighbors are doing. With the lead time they were given, the PFF could have easily arranged for all this things. The distance of the venue is not enough reason to account for the low attendance.

I have to change this post. It was brought to my attention from an anonymous source, that the PSS was at full capacity of 20,000 last Tuesday night. Some 17,932 spectators flew in from La Loma and Manila North in Caloocan. They all said that they were already in town since last November 1st. Unfortunately, nobody can see them except from my psychic source. By the way, he also smokes that funny weed.

No pointing of fingers at individuals please. The PFF as an organization has to do a better job of promoting this tournament.
