Btw.... at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 qualification Wiki page Australia is listed.... I think it would be their 1st time to participate in this event. Does anyone have info which team are they sending is it U-23, Team A or Team B? Anyway whatever team they will bring their inclusion adds excitement and ups the level of competition.

But for AFF Women's it is confirmed they are sending their U-20 team.

Mariano Araneta, the president of the Philippines Football Federation (PFF) said that there should be no issue of attendance at the Philippines Sports Stadium for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 where he feels confident that the seats will all be filled up for the November event. The Philippines gained the approval from the AFF Council to host one group of the tournament this year alongside Myanmar. It is the first time that both countries are hosting the blue-riband event of the AFF. “We feel confident that we can draw the attendance required and we are already taking steps to make sure that we go in the right direction,” added Mariano. “We will have a board meeting at the end of this month and where we are looking at initiating a proper marketing plan from an outside company possibly to assist in the PR exercise. “The AFF Suzuki Cup for us is more important than the World Cup qualifiers, so we are confident that we can deliver what is expected.” For the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016, the PFF have nominated the 25,000 capacity Philippines Sports Stadium as the main venue with the 12,500 Rizal Memorial Stadium as the secondary. www.aseanfootball.org/v2/?p=22633

PFF wants all seats taken for Suzuki Cup By Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) | Updated March 14, 2016 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines – Now that the hosting of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup is secured, the Philippines faces the task of bringing in the big crowd for the group matches at the 20,000-seater Philippine Sports Stadium in Bocaue, Bulacan. The Philippine Azkals had previously used the PSS as home stadium for a couple of their assignments in the joint Fifa World Cup-AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and their last outing drew 7,500 spectators in a Sept. 2015 losing game to Uzbekistan. So the challenge is obviously to launch major drumbeating efforts to generate interest and support to the Suzuki Cup – Southeast Asia’s centerpiece competition – from everyone. “We feel confident we can draw the attendance required and we are already taking steps to make sure we go in the right direction,” Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta said in an interview on the AFF website. “We’re looking at initiating a proper marketing plan from an outside company possibly to assist in the PR exercise….we are confident we can deliver what is expected,” he added. The PFF on Saturday saved the country’s first-ever hosting of the Asean showpiece after submitting required documents (contract with the PSS and a letter of guarantee from the Philippine Sports Commission, administrator of the secondary venue, Rizal Memorial, to the AFF Council. The body, in turn, confirmed Phl’s first-ever staging of the final rounds. www.philstar.com/sports/2016/03/14/1562775/pff-wants-all-seats-taken-suzuki-cup

AFF announced at its meeting that the new format for AFF Suzuki Cup will be applied soon, starting with the 2018 edition. The nine highest-ranked teams will qualified to play in the tournament, and the 10th and 11th ranked teams will play in a two-legged qualifier. At the group stage, the 10 qualified teams will be split into two groups of five teams each. The teams will play one another in a home-and-away, round-robin format. Each team will play four matches, two at home and two away. There will be a draw to determine where the group stage matches are played. The semi-final and final stages will be played in a two-legged format. AFF said after several editions of the tournament, the current format is considered ineffective in attracting a large audience. Any group stage matches that do not feature the host or co-host country often failed to attract big crowds to the stadium. There has also been feedback from many national football federations, saying that supporters of each national team want to see their beloved footballers playing on home soil. The new format is created from the feedback, and it is said that it has received support from the sponsors. footballchannel.asia/2016/03/14/post9944/

Schools can require students to watch the matches just as they require them to watch certain movies and come up with reports. I don't know how they will generate income from this though, and is this even acceptable as it would mean government involvement?

after the world cup and asian cup qualifying, it is our turn to host the suzuki cup.
friendlies should be arranged against stronger teams like oman, kuwait, bahrain and nokor.
I doubt the 12 teams in the round of the world cup will agree to play a friendly with the azkals.
as for the player availability, those playing outside the ufl will may not be able to join the suzuki cup. etheridge, muller, patino, ramsay, woodland and schrock depends if he will stay in ufl or not are the possible exlcusion in the line up
so with that here are the available players from ufl
Global
Bahadoran Aguinaldo Deyto (GK) Sato Nazari (if eligible)
Ceres Ott Ingreso Reichelt Steuble
LMSFC PYH JYH Trigo (GK) De Jong (if they will invite him)
Stallions Rota
Kaya Daniels Porteria Tanton
i think the above ufl players will be the core of our suzuki cup team.
of course if we have the foreign based player, the better for our chances

If only Muller 's transfer to ceres has been completed, then we have a competitive team defensively. We still need Patino since PYH is still not playing. I hope Misagh can continue his form, he has been scoring some goals lately

Even if Ceres deal doesn't push thru any UFL team will do that can assure his availability for the Suzuki Cup. Btw the latest rule on foreign players limit really helped the build up this year as we see the quality of foreign based pinoys playing locally are a notch higher with the entry of schrock, nazari and probably adam reed. Hoping for muller and who knows maybe woodland and ramsay in the months to come.

If we want to beat thailand or vietnam and claim the suzuki cup, we need to strengthen our defense. Dato is still a bit shaky, I'd rather choose Trigo but if Muller is here, he will no doubt be our number 1 keeper. We also need to rebuild our backline, Sabio is no stranger to asean football and he is getting his minutes with ceres. Ali is also having a good campaign both Ufl and Afc cup. With or without Shrock, we can still play well. I've seen his last game versus Loyola, he is drifting everywhere. He needs to play with the system. We still have the best midfield in the whole Asean with Ott, Steuble, Tanton and perhaps Reed. If PYH is not healthy, maybe his brother JYH can replace him, he's been playing well lately for his club. Looking forward to see Woodland and Ramsay playing for the Ufl. If Shrock can do it, they can do it too.

I might be seeing Patino in Suzuki Cup as the CSL will end weeks before the Suzuki Cup. Indonesia is back in the global map as FIFA lifted their suspension in IDN.
