Importance of the Suzuki Cup
By next year 2017, every national team in the world will be very busy trying to make it to the World Cup in Russia. For those who did not qualify, it will be a rather empty space, a sports vacuum, days of contemplation, a "Quo vadis?" time.
We are already sensing it here in the Philippines. Interest in Azkals have fallen down, stadium attendance is at a low. And it will be even worst if they fail to make it to the knockout stage. The current odds are all against the Azkals.
Getting the Suzuki Cup Championship Trophy gives a completely positive outlook for the future. Added to this is playing well in the next SouthAsian Olympic Games in 2017 with the U23s. The SouthAsian Games is important because it represents the youth, i.e. the next generation of players, the players for World Cup 2022.
In the meantime, the Azkals will need all the support of the Filipinos during these home games. We should all "dig in at full support". Losing is not an option. Buy your tickets.

FYI we qualified for the third round of the asian cup qualifier which starts next year Thanks, I failed to consider the consolation price to be at third position in the group during the WC qualifiers. The Asian Cup is in 2019, we must change the negative momentum to something positive in the Suzuki Cup. Anyway, there's always a Cup there someplace to keep a team busy. Of course there's always the friendlies.

I expect the PSS to be less than half full during the Suzuki Cup. But my wife and I will be travelling from Cebu to watch them live. Just a little worried about two things that the PFF has completely ignored my tweet inquiries to them. Perhaps if any of you here can answer my 2 questions, I would really appreciate it.
1. Will the away fans be separated from the home fans? I am worried about being seated next to ultras from other countries, specifically Indonesian fans.
2. Will the PFF provide shuttle buses from Q.C to Bulacan and vice versa?
This is important for me to know since I need to make travel arrangements.

Since nobody knows the sitting arrangement, it's better to sit beside Ultras Filipinas, they'll be sitting at section 221-222

Azkals-Kyrgyzstan preview: Fitness a concern The team is working on conditioning as a new player comes in to boost squad. Foremost was the presence of midfielder Hikaru “Pika” Minegishi in the squad. The wide player from Global, son of a Japanese father and Filipina mother, recently bagged the Golden Ball award in the UFL as its best player. Minegishi, 25, is getting his Filipino passport sorted out, and he says it will be in his hands within the next few days. That will allow him to finally play for the Azkals, probably in the Suzuki Cup. He has not made the Kyrgyzstan squad, perhaps because his passport is still being processed. “I like his speed and work ethic,” gushes Dooley. “He is very unpredictable and keeps defenders busy.” Minegishi has struck 20 times for Global in his two years with the club. Dooley praised Minegishi's off-the-ball movement to his face after training, saying his off-the-ball runs “would be a big help” to the side in its upcoming games. There were some other new faces and returnees in the practice session. Kaya's Shirmar Felongco, a left-sided defender with recent AFC Cup experience, was there, as was Green Archers United's Dodong Villareal. Marco Casambre from Global also attended. The Philippines U19 NT centerback is considered one of the hottest young defenders in the country. Enrolled in UP, he was part of the Maroons team that recently won the Unigames in Dumaguete. It's believed he will further boost Anto Gonzales' team in the upcoming UAAP season. Casambre already has plenty of experience with Global, both in the UFL and in the Singapore Cup. Another recent call-up, defender Camelo Tacusalme from JP Voltes, is injured and did not participate. But Dooley did assure that Ramsay would be included for both the friendly and the Suzuki. Javier Patiño, the prolific goalscorer for Henan Jianye in China, is expected to play for the team in the Suzuki at the very least. www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/football/151400-azkals-kyrgyzstan-preview-fitness-concern

two new options for our LB if Sato can't play this suzuki cup. Christiaens is our regular LB before his injuries sidelined him. between him and Felongco, i prefer Shirmar. he's more active and hardworking, though Jeff has an advantage in terms of ball handling. for our CB, i guess there's a reason of the snub of Aly and Sabio. they're probably prefering the young ones, with Woodland and the emergence of 17 y.o Casambre. looking forward in the upcoming days. Dooley might surprise us

I am excited for this tournament although I can't make it home to watch it live, but I've been waiting for this especially now that the Philippines is hosting. But I am really hoping that there's also 20,000 excited rabid fans back home. Enough to fill in the whole stadium to support our team.

sad to say but the current ticket status is still excellent except for the Indonesia vs Singapore wich will be played in Rizal. im afraid we'll be outnumbered with away fans from Indonesia. hoping there will be a seating arrangement to segregate the home and away fans

The Squad still lack a suitable partner for Aguinaldo in the middle of the Defense.. Man I Hope Juani, Rob or Lucena or atleast one of them would return from retirement and play one more tournament for the Azkals to help that depleted Central Defense..

If the above comments were true, PFF is in a very tough spot. The game last Wednesday was on subscriptionTV for PFF/ABS-CBN to make some money, since stadium attendance is pathetic. Looking at it positively, it was a friendly on a Wednesday night.
Let's all hope that the Suzuki Cup attendance will be much different (Mostly? from the visiting team fanbase?) We, Pinoys have to do better than this. There's always the question? "Will the stadium attendance be much better if more locals (i.e. homegrown) players are in the starting 11?" My non-football friends in Manila say YES.

Yung live telecast ah, hinde delayed. Thank you.
