a couple of days ago I read on Twitter that Dan Palami already submitted documents to AFC to fulfill the AFC Club Licensing Criteria. He's quite confident that they will get that Go signal from AFC. next thing I knew is they were deemed as not yet ready for AFC champions league.
Did they make it because Indonesia was'nt able to send a team on time because of their 1yr ban? Which now makes Loyola Meralco Sparks as our 2nd representative to AFC cup. anyways, this is really huge for Philippine Football in general.

I am a bit surprised by this. I wasn't sure they would be able to fulfill the infrastructure criterias. Global FC must have agreed to play at the PSS/Rizal. Global's home stadium(which would need to be certified by the AFC) in Cebu for the maiden season of the PFL or for that matter the setup of the PFL itself, hasn't even been finalized yet.
It probably helps that the AFC is directly involved in helping the PFF with the creation of the PFL next year.

Loyola will only make it to the AFC Cup if Global makes it past the playoff stage of the AFC Champion's Cup. Otherwise Global will be one of the 2 teams in the AFC Cup.

some good news for Philippine Football after that frustrating Suzuki Cup campaign. This is probably the reason Global Fc is hiring that British coach.

There will be plenty of football excitement as PFF has been granted a slot in the AFC Champions League Preliminary/ Playoff stage. Global FC, the United Football League’s top finisher, will be representing the Philippines in the EAST Slot allocation along with clubs from Korea Republic, Japan, China PR, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Singapore. To qualify for the group stage of the AFC Champions League, Global FC must win each match assigned in the three (3) stages leading to the group stage. The first assignment is scheduled on 24 January 2017 against Tampines Rovers FC from Singapore. The fans will be delighted as the match will be held in the Philippines. If Global FC wins, the next assignment will be an away game against Brisbane Roar who finished 4th in the Australian League. The match is scheduled on 31 January 2017. The play-off stage, which will be another away match, is scheduled on 07 February 2017 against China’s Shanghai Shenhua FC who placed 4th in the Chinese Superleague. Should Global FC fails to reach the group stage of the AFC Champions League, they will be awarded a slot in the AFC Cup 2017 group stage. If Global FC succeeds, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC, who placed third in the United Football League, will be nominated for the AFC Cup 2017 group stage, joining Ceres-Negros FC. pff.org.ph/2016/12/09/philippines-gets-a-slot-in-afc-champions-league-preliminary-stage/

btw why did Global released their key players? Sato and Nazri were both big part of the team. they would surely help the club and both are considered as our 'Locals'. was it money issues? does the Romanian and Malaysian club pay Global a huge amount of money for their release?

I think they feel that in the UFL this players careers will just diminished and opportunities in playing abroad doesnt come everyday. Just thank Global they are not a selfish club. Probably a bit of financials as well.

Their contract expire after the season finish so most players are going on free transfer. Omid Nazari's contract expire on Dec 31. www.transfermarkt.de/omid-nazari/profil/spieler/184578

Brisbane also learned their qualifying route and will host a one-off play-off against either Filipino club Global FC or Singaporean outfit Tampines Rovers at Suncorp Stadium on January 31. Should they win, the Roar will play a final qualifying match away to Tim Cahill’s former Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua on February 7, the final hurdle to a Group E berth alongside J-League title-winners Kashima Antlers, Thai champions Muangthong United and another play-off winner. www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/13/adelaide-united-to-face-reigning-champions-jeonbuk-in-acl-group-stage
