yup damon was too busy playing in the majors to play in the Sea games. now that he is a free agent that is almost at the point of retirement he can probably play for thailand in future competitions.
Now all we need is the Philppines to do the same to Thailand in 2 weeks in football, and I will be one pretty happy camper.

Nice win for the Philippines.
My wife noticed that the Blu Boys are "artistahin" and they can give the Azkals a run for their money in the looks department. I think that could be exploited if only to give Baseball the needed exposure it deserves. We can really excel in this sport.

good win for philippines pero sana maka develop tayo ng matatangkad na pitcher masyado maliit mga pitchers natin yun fastball nila di umaabot ng 90 mph

Height is very important in baseball if you want to be a world class athlete kung mataas ang pangarap mo sa larong ito at least 6 footer ka sa MLB yun posisyun lang na pwede sa maliit yun 2nd base at catcher pero halos lahat matatangkad na yun kung wala yun mga cguro sa little league ok lang ang maliit

Yes, you need height especially for pitchers because taller pitchers can get more velocity and better angles (an advantage given by the pitching mound).
But it doesn't mean a short pitcher cannot be successful. Think of Pedro Martinez.
I think Filipinos are natural players in baseball. We can pitch, bat, and field.
Good luck against Taiwan! We can do this!

Pedro Martinez is 5 11 almost six feet but our pitchers yesterday are 5 foot 5 and below only Espinelli is over six feet

It is amazing how few publications in the Philippines are covering this world qualification event compared to other sports. It reminds me of how Philippine football was like a few years ago when you couldn't convince a reporter to attend a pretournament press conference. Very sad.
As to the issue of height, it definitely helps to be tall if you are a pitcher especially if you are trying to overwhelm your opponent with a 90+ mph fastball which is easier to accomplish bec. of the torque you can generate with your long frame, but many pitchers use other types of off speed pitches that don't require too much force or velocity to confuse hitters and height is not as much a necessity when using them.

off speed pitches also requires arm strength you should throw it the same way you throw your fastball the only different is on the grip of the ball

Yes, you need a different grip. Even you pitched with an high 80's fastball, you can still fool hitters with a change-up that can reached with low 80's. Our pitchers as well can throw breaking balls like curve balls and sliders.
I think we need to develop our ground ball pitchers. Pitchers that can throw splitters and cut fastball (ala Mariano Rivera).
