If that's the case, then good news for us. We need him to anchor our defense partnering with Amani.

Jesper said that he is not yet 100% committed but he is definitely getting his Philippine passport ASAP. It sounds like he really wants to though so it looks very promising.
It will take awhile to process his paperwork, so I don't think he will be able to play for the national team this month.

www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/filippinernas-landslag-ute-efter-aiks-nyholm/AIK Jesper Nyholm match winner against Elfsborg is hunted by the Philippines national team. League boss Thomas Dooley wants to join the player as soon as possible - but the midback has not yet decided how to do. "I'm flattered, but Rikard has told me to wait a bit," said the midfielder. On Monday, AIK's new acquisition Jesper Nyholm decided to match Elfsborg with a goal after 47 minutes. Mittbacken came to AIK as a forest player from Dalkurd in front of this season. He was hunted by Djurgården and IFK Göteborg, but after a personal meeting with Rikard Norling in front of Hammarby at Friends in August, he chose to sign for "Gnaget." The 23-year-old's mother is from the Philippines, meaning Nyholm has dual citizenship. This means that he can represent both Sweden and the Philippines national team. "They have called and written that I will make a passport" Philippine federation, former German player Thomas Dooley, including 106 matches for the Kaiserslautern, has been in contact with the defender. - The Philippines needs midway. They have some older people who are about to leave. Their federation has been on me for a while now. I told Rikard Norling and made a reasoning with him. "He has told me to wait a bit," says Nyholm. Is the Swedish national team you are aiming for? "Yes, that's all players do. Rikard said he thought I had great potential and therefore I should wait. I'm listening his advice now and then we'll see. "It's like flattering that the Philippians want me. How concrete is the Philippines? "They have called and wrote that I will make passports and they want to come with me now in June when there was any match. I will admit that I have no further track of their team but they meet Japan and some other good teams.

“We’ll prepare for that and hopefully we get the new players that we want as well,” Palami said. Meanwhile, Palami revealed that they are eyeing the services of two new foreign-based recruits to be part of their roster for the Asian Cup qualifiers. Palami did not identify the players but online reports are pointing to Filipino-German Raphael Obermair and Filipino-Swedish Jesper Nyholm as possible additions to the Azkals roster. Obermair, 21, plays as a right wing striker for German Bayern Munich FC’s second team while Nyholm, 23, is a center back out of AIK Fotboll in the Swedish first division. “One of them is already in the lineup of a strong team in the Bundesliga. The other one, unfortunately, the national team of the other country took interest in him. So, he will try that first and maybe come back to us if its not successful,” said Palami. www.manilatimes.net/azkals-face-powerhouse-china-friendly/324039/

Jesper Nyholm has played in 4 matches for AIK solna this season so far, He played a full game in 3 matches, including the last 2 matches wherein he was instrumental in the goals that was scored in those games. He's playing great in his own right and this is just his 1st year in the Swedish top tier. Him playing for AIK makes it harder for us to cap him.

www.fotbollskanalen.se/allsvenskan/filippinska-landslaget-drar-i-nyholm-de-bara-kor/● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● FOOTBALL | yesterday The former Drummer player makes a success - now he can choose blue litter: "Has ordered paper" After a nice season, Jesper Nyholm could be up to date for the January tour. But the former Drum player is considering changing national teams - to the Philippines. - They're on again. They just drive. They want me to fix my passport, says Nyholm to UNT. Jesper Nyholm left Dalkurd for AIK ahead of this season. Directly he entered the team and made 20 starts - many of them were praised. That the 24-year-old would be up to date for a January tour is not at all unthinkable. But just as he is almost blind, he goes into mixed thoughts. Nyholm's mother is from the Philippines and now the 116-ranked national team wants to tie him up. - They're on again. They just drive. They want me to fix my passport, "says Jesper Nyholm to UNT. Nyholm has ordered paper to apply for a Philippine passport. "I obtained my dual citizenship and you can get it from there. It may be good to have that passport. Nyholm probably does not get citizenship and passport to the Philippines's qualifying match against Nepal in the middle of the month. Most likely, he will be available for the January tour with blue-yellow. But even though he would be out there, the door is open to the Philippines, because it does not count as racing matches. - I have not thought so much about it. Without thinking about playing here in AIK, and when you have not played, you have thought about a little extra. The January tour is only in two months. (English Translation)

So what are the chances of him playing for Sweden if they make it to the World Cup? Sweden are only a win away from getting in.

Sweden ties Italy 0:0 and makes it to the World Cup, and eliminating Italy. If Nyholm has not been called at this late stage, the chances are slim Sweden will call him for the World Cup.

Jesper suffered a serious injury on Mar. 13 with what sounds like a serious(possibly mulitple) fracture. You could see his foot flapping at an unnatural angle. Tough to watch. www.liveleak.com/view?t=u19md_1520984481&theme_id=1He had to undergo surgery, but apparently has suffered a setback with a possible infection from an open fracture post op. It might take time for him to recover from such a serious injury putting into doubt his chances of playing in the Asian Cup next year. infoglitz.com/swedeneng/complications-for-jesper-nyholm-after-the-operation-of-the-broken-leg/Hopefully he recovers from this serious injury which can not only threaten his career but if there is an infection can be potentially life threatening, if not taken of properly. He is still in the hospital. Really sad since he is considered one of the best defenders in the Allsvenkan(Swedish top tier) and as a centerback, could have really solidified our defence.
