Sir Wiking, i read that rumor too. It says that he will sign to GAU for 5 yrs.
Hi, a few weeks ago a friend from twitter told me an Azkal was going to make a big move, but he didn't tell me who.
Today, he answered my question. It seems it is Chieffy who will be going to GAU! Pasilan, Caligdong, Deyto and Pasinabo, this crew has alot better upside than AF and hopefully he gets a "civilian" size paycheck too.
He deserves to reap the benefits of being in the open market!
Dunno 'bout the contract length though. Maybe it is 5 years?
Sir Wiking, i read it somewhere in the other forums, at the first place, i'm so skeptical to see the post.

From GAU:Although not officially part of the team, @chieffy_13 Will be joining @gau_ANIMO in our Provincial tour to help set up Grassroots programs.
I read earlier(but can't remember where) that the reason he isn't signed yet is he is awaiting his official release from the Air Force. Can anyone confirm?
Chieffy Caligdong takes lead role in big football project By Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 10:51 pm | Tuesday, July 24th, 2012
MANILA, Philippines—Throughout his career, the Philippine Azkals co-skipper Chieffy Caligdong has overcome his lack in size with a steely resolve.
It’s the kind of no-nonsense mentality he hopes to bring in his new role as sports ambassador as he takes the lead role in grassroots projects that aims to find future standouts.
“It’s a dream come true—helping people through football,” said Caligdong at Tuesday’s luncheon tendered for him by Globe Telecoms at Legend Villas Hotel in Mandaluyong.
Caligdong will be involved in development projects, particularly in football camps, that will help raise funds in an effort to construct 10,000 classrooms.
Aside from the grassroots projects, Caligdong will also conduct a mentoring program with United Football League team Green Archers United.
But GAU manager Monchu Garcia said Caligdong, who has asked to be discharged from the Air Force, isn’t moving to the Archers.
Caligdong said his new role will not prevent him from seeing action with the national team. In fact, he is already relishing the challenge in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup where the Azkals have been grouped with host Thailand and Vietnam.
“I’m confident of our chances,” he said in Filipino. “The other teams are also worried about us because we also have a stronger team.”
Chieffy would have been a football superstar if he grew up abroad, says Weiss Karl Decena, InterAKTV · Thursday, August 16, 2012 · 3:42 pm
There is little doubt that Philippine national football team winger Chieffy is the best homegrown player in the country.
Which is why even Azkals coach Hans Michael Weiss is convinced that Caligdong would have been a massive superstar had he grown up elsewhere.
“With the environment in the Philippines and the low level of education in football, he could only make it to this stage, which is already fantastic,” Weiss told affsuzukicup.com in a recent interview.
The German coach added that if Caligdong had grown up in England or Germany, he would have had enough education to be one of the best players in one of those football-mad countries.
With the influx of foreign-born talent into the Azkals, Caligdong remains one of the few homegrown talents who sees regular playing time on the team. Even Weiss is forced to admit that he enjoys watching the former Airman on the pitch.
“I like the way he moves. I like the way he understands the game,” Weiss said. “He’s one of my favorite players.”
Caligdong is best remembered for his sensational goal against Mongolia in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers in Bacolod City last year. He is among the most decorated members of the Azkals, winning the Golden Boot award in the 2011 Long Teng Cup.
Caligdong is currently working himself back to form after an injury during the United Football League campaign. There is uncertainty about his footballing future after he announced plans to migrate to the United States with his family, although he has assured that he will be committed to play for the Azkals in the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup.

AZKALS team captain Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong was named one of the 2012 Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) by the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCI).
The JCI gives out the TOYM awards to Filipinos who excel and make significant contributions in the fields of agriculture and aquaculture, arts, banking, business, community development, economics, education, government service, journalism, law, literature, medicine, science and technology and sports.
Philippine Football Federation President Nonong Araneta congratulated Caligdong, who was with the Azkals in Singapore for the second leg of the Suzuki Cup for his award.
“I’m glad that his contribution to sports is being recognized. He serves as an inspiration to the young football players in the country. His humility and his work ethics are his greatest assets,” Araneta told the BusinessMirror.
Caligdong was chosen for his playing skills and for the honor he brought to the country as one of the top Azkals. He scored the Azkals’ lone goal in their Group A match against Vietnam that strengthened the team’s chances of advancing to the semifinal round of the Suzuki Cup.
“[Caligdong was chosen] on his excellence and luster he brought to Philippine football,” said the JCI in its statement.
The JCI also compared the 33-year-old Pototan, Iloilo-born striker to Argentinian legend Diego Maradona.
“No Filipino player has better captured the imagination of the public since the height of football’s popularity in the Philippines six decades ago. In Philippine football, he has reached the status of, and has been compared with, the Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona.”
JCI also noted that Caligdong is also one of the chief advocates of strengthening the country’s football grassroots program.
“His increasing number of students is evidence that football is regaining the popularity it used to enjoy in the country. This popularity and the excellence it will bring, he hopes, will be a positive promotion for our country through the medium of sports.”
GMA News anchor Jiggy Manicad, Party-list Rep. Emmeline Yan Aglipay of Diwa, University of the Philippines (UP)-Los Baños’s Waren Baricados, Reach Foundation’s Apollo David and UP Asian Institute of Tourism’s Ivan Henares are the other awardees.
