He was, I believe, only 25 when he last played at least League Two level, and 28 when he last played at Conference level. That's still fairly young, so age must not have been the only reason. Maybe he decided early on to try other interests aside from football. Also, his position during his early days is right back. Maybe teams saw he no longer had enough pace to play the position.

Football in the lower leagues is pretty much rough and bulldozer style of play. Kick and run basically. You dont have to be that fast to play CB. Alot of it is about positioning. I bet its other interests.

PFF knew about Jonsson for many years. There might be different issues to why they didnt get hold of him. Maybe its financial. Now that Palami has taken over, it seems that its easier to get the players based in Europe. Giers career might look like its in decline, but he has been very important for the azkals.

Schrock had a couple of chances to score a goal. He was taken out late in the game.

One thing about market or transfer value is that age plays an important factor in the valuation. The younger the player are the higher the value. Schroeck is 25-26? and quality player too so his valuation is about right. However, look at Lucena. He's valued at 650,000 but he's hitting what 30-31?Looks like he's considered a valuable asset despite his age.

Lucena turns 31 this coming august 11. Quality players in scandinavia, despite age, can have a good market value. But younger talented players that are sold to for example bundesliga from scandinavia isnt much higher in value actually. Another factor might also be the length of their contracts.

mikeh, I was looking at Lucenas team roster and they have ALOT of players 29 and above most on D. Their leading scorer at this time is Soren Berg at 35yo. Ever heared of this guy since your in Scandinavia(I think)? In Jonssons Icelandic team there are even more 30 somethings! His teams leading scorer is Scott Ramsey 35yo and Robbie Winters at 36! mikeh could you tell me what level Jonsson team is playing at. 2, 3, 4th? Just curious...
