I suggest you sign up for one of the United Football League (UFL) clubs, which has 2 divisions. A lot of the national players play in that league including some from the US who are planning to do the same as you do. It is also a good way to get scouted by the national coaching staff as it is the top 2 tiers in the country even though at this time it is still semipro. Dan Palami, team manager of the Azkals owns Global Smartmatic which ended up 2nd this year. Kaya FC will have at least 5 national team players next year incl. Sabio who is taking off 1 year off from law school in the US to play there and for the Azkals.

I already mentioned the 2 clubs above. with the most national team involvement. Other clubs should be okay also except for the armed forces clubs unless you want to enlist in the airforce, army or navy. ;D

The UFL has plans of expanding into a fully professional league in the near future and might also be accepting teams from other regions soon.

Haha I have no intention of joing the army or navy :D Then I'll be contacting a UFL team then a month before heading to the Philippines ^^ looking forward to this :D Do I need to try out or something? or just pay a signing fee to play for them?

The UFL is a competitive league not a recreational league. >:( Of course you have to undergo tryouts. The better teams are harder to get into because they have a lot of good players including players from abroad. If you can't make it in the first division, try the second.

Me asking if I have to pay a fee was just a normal question.. Youthteams of the topleague here in Belgium including reserves have to pay a fee of around 350-400€ ( 25.000 pesos) just to be accepted in the club, not meaning they will effectively play for the team itself. Football is bussines here, all about the money.. Then I'll try out for the team that's closest to my place in the Philippines, regardless wich competition they play in.. ^^

Cool. Good luck gerard. The UFL is Manila based as of now but in a few years they might expand to the provinces as well. If you are joining next season, Kaya FC will have 5 national team players, 4 of whom played college soccer in the US. Enjoy your stay in the Phiippines. :)

It may be worth noting that UFL 2nd division champions Nomads FC are moving up to division 1 this year. Perhaps they may need all the help they can get? Aside from the current 7 teams playing in the 1st division, there are also 8 teams in division2.

Do the Nomads have a team that's worthy of the 1st division? Maybe I'll check them out.. When does the new season start?

I read somewhere that the UFL are planning on expanding division 1 by adding a few more teams, maybe up to 10 this coming season so maybe they will be accepting more than just recently promoted Nomads FC.

Are there an recreational leagues in Manila aside from the semi-pro leagues? I used to play at semi-pro level back in England when I was younger but haven't played for the last two years because of injury. Want to get back into football in January. I leave in Eastwood, Q.C. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Ash
