@rickyolivares: The PFF sent Loyola a letter telling the club not to play Matthew Hartmann. right after the last practice.
This is STUPID and I think all of you already said why this decision is wrong(club & country). Im not a big fan of Matt Hartmann, I dont know the guy, but as a fan what can we do so that this same thing wont happend to other player?
I have a couple of question for people who may know more than me:
1. Based on the books, Can PFF really BAN a player from playing for club?
2.What kind of relationship does PFF and UFL have? I tot UFL is not a recognized league by PFF, thats why we cannot consider it a semi-pro league yet?
3. Can Matt Hartman file a case in court like "depriving him to work" kinda case?
4. Does PFF have the authority to as Loyala not to field him at Singapore?
Anyway, this decision is Sad and stupid.FIFA only recognize one football authority per country and that Philippine FA is the PFF. Now the PFF must only have one "premier" or senior league, this is the UFL. FIFA is the one and only voice in world soccer and by extension the PFF for the Philippines. To mess with or disregard PFF rules and regulation would ultimately be very very bad for the offending player or team. For examples of these are the Indonesian ISL and PSSI; the banned Korean player who tried to play in the Philppines etc. The PFF recognizes the UFL, without it none of the player in the league can ever play any FIFA sanctioned games especially outside of the Philippines. All UFL players have their FIFA cards I'm sure. As for Matt's problem, he created it himself so now he has to pay. Do I think its too much? At most a one season UFL ban would have thought him a lesson unfortunately FIFA is unforgiving and the UFL disciplinary committee seem to be the same. One thing that has not been mentioned is brother Mark, it's sad a young kid with his burgeoning skills/talent has been excluded(by association with Matt?) from the NT, whether his choice or the Coaches. Its a loss for the Azkals for sure.

If PFF is trying to teach Matt a lesson, I don't think he's learning it.

Loyola Meralco hopes PFF will give Hartmann a reprieveBy Beth Celis Philippine Daily Inquirer 11:06 pm | Wednesday, June 27th, 2012 Gosh, I almost forgot about an e-mail sent to me by an avid fan of the United Football League’s Loyola Meralco Sparks some weeks ago. Good thing I saw Aly Borromeo and Phil Younghusband on television where they were the guests of the PBA coverage. The topic that triggered my memory was the Singapore Cup where Loyola-Meralco represented the Philippines and won. * * * “As a football fan, there are two reasons for me to be very ecstatic and proud to be Filipino,” wrote Jerry Sison of North Fairview. “First is the incredible rise of the Philippine Azkals, both here and abroad. Second is the fantastic performance of Loyola Meralco in the 2012 Singapore Cup where they triumphed, 2-1, over the formidable Geylang United FC in their opening match.” According to Jerry, this is the first time that a Philippine football club was invited to play in a top regional football competition, probably because the other countries felt that none of our club teams were good enough. Loyola-Meralco, he said, is the first foreign team to win in this tournament this season. Led by brothers Phil and James Younghusband, the Sparks advanced to the quarterfinals slated this July, “a sure sign that the team is fast shaping up to be a UFL heavyweight.” “The win also gives credence to the fledgling Filipino league.” * * * At this point, there is one thing that worries Jerry Sison and, as I was to find out later, all the officials of the Loyola Meralco starting from club chair Al Panlilio. Will midfielder Matthew Hartmann be allowed to play in the Singapore Cup this July? “On the eve of their Singapore Cup debut, the team was informed that the Philippine Football Federation was disallowing Matthew Hartmann to participate. Hartmann was suspended by the PFF for one year after he had abandoned the national team at the height of the Southeast Asian Games competition in Indonesia,” Panlilio said. “We were surprised because the Singapore Cup is not a PFF sanctioned event. Singapore league officials said they did not receive any notice from the AFC or the FIFA regarding the Hartmann case.” * * * While the Sparks prepare for their return to Singapore, a lot of people are hoping that the PFF would reconsider their decision and allow Hartmannn to play. “It would be such a waste for a talented booter like Hartmann to miss out on a chance to play in the Singapore Cup,” said Al, who is also the president of the MVP Sports Foundation. sports.inquirer.net/50349/loyola-meralco-hopes-pff-will-give-hartmann-a-reprieve

I think Matt is flying to Singapore with the Sparks again for the next round of RHB Cup and i believe as well that body of juries will again in pursuit of blocking his way. Facepalm! Hopefully I am wrong.

Some interesting developments: Matt Hartmann has been included in the Loyola Meralco Sparks lineup for the PFF-Smart Club Championship despite being still suspended from club competition until January 25.
It will be interesting as well if he will be included in the lineup for this UFL league season. But I do hope this won't be risky for the club as they could face sanctions from the PFF.

Wow! Matt is definitely back! He really had redeemed himself for the 12 months he wasn't able to play for the Sparks and from all the controversy since his suspension!
Let's put this case to rest, shall we?

now that he's playing for meralco, is he eligible again to play for the national team?
if he has wised-up and toned down the attitude, he and his younger brother would be a great addition to the azkals in the upcoming challenge cup qualifying

I agree that Mark should be in the National Team but not Matthew. He is just not good, he just lacks the skills and football IQ and could be a liability for the team. You can see that in their recent game against Kaya.

agree with orwat..thought Meralco would dominate the game vs Kaya, but the "Phil-Fred_MattHartmann" combi have no match against Kaya's baby boy OJ! I dint feel Matt's presence in the game:0 Si james okay pa, okay sa initan ng ulo LOL!
