Tenéis ahora al mejor de la familia Aldeguer,Angel, que os seguirá dando muchas alegrías, Maraming salamat mabuhay ang pilipinas AZCALS Juan Luis Guirado Aldeguer Apparently he said he is proud of being called in to join the national team of his mother's country. but that his jobs won't allow him to leave at this time even for a few days, but that he will consider it in the future. He appreciates all the interest shown by the Filipino community and wish us success and that the best of the Aldeguer's Angel will provide us many joys. Spanish speaker here... My mother's country's national team -whom I feel very proud of- has called me up for join them, due to the bad situation in Spain's football (he doesn't say it, but obviously means economically), CD Marbella owes me the half season (wage I guess) and this year I'm at a humble team, as a result I've to work. I found a good job one month ago and it's impossible for me in this moment to leave it and go to the Phils for a few days, I appreciate all the interest shown by the filipino community, and I support you unconditionally from here and wish you to success, althought I never dismiss the posibility of going some day. You have now to the best of the Aldeguer family, Angel, who will continue bringing you a lot of joy, Maraming salamat mabuhay ang pilipinas AZCALS. Juan Luis Guirado Aldeguer They interviewed Ángel, not Juan.

mrpmosh thanks for the full translation. I tend to paraphrased statements when I post them here. Looks like it is his other job that is preventing him from going. BTW, any Fil-Mexican players you can recommend?

I still think the US defensive organization will prevail but Mexico now has more European based players who are used to this style of play that can help tip the balance. As for the Azkals, it is a shame that noone is scouting the latin american nations(incl. Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc.) for eligible players for the national team. With our shared heritage, and apparently a large number of Filipino immigrants in Mexico(Mexican law makes it easy for Filipinos to immigrate bec. of our historical links), there should be a few Fil-Mexican players available.

He's what we were lacking, cuz we always dominate ball possesion and generate more goal situations than the US, but with poor definition... I hope Cheech brings that to the team. Even though we are awful defending in set pieces, and the US have the physical edge so it always cost us goals. :/ I personally have never seen a Filipino or even a Fil-Mexican, there are zones with a considerable Filipino heritage, but is mostly in the Southwest (Guerrero coasts, as Acapulco ;P and some zones of Morelia) but I guess they aren't eligible for a Filipino passport, I guess they don't even know if they have a Filipino or Chinese relative. An example of a guy from Michoacan that I'm sure has Filipino ancestry, singer Frankie J: Maybe in the bordier zones Fil-Mex could be found. About Filipino inmigration to other Latin American countries, I don't know anything.

Here is the wikipedia article on Filipino immigration to Mexico" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filipino_immigration_to_MexicoMore relevant to this topic is the wave of recent immigration as indicated in this statement: "Mexican immigration law continues to grant special status for Filipinos, and from 1970 to 2005 about 100,000 Filipino immigrants came to Mexico." Some of these recent immigrants could have had descendants who could be eligible to play for the Azkals. Unlike the last Copa de Oro which Mexico won, the US is bringing their best available players this time to the competition, so it should be a good one to add to the rivalry when both countries hopefully meet in the finals. ;D

I still see a more talented Mexican side, althought the US knows how to play us. BTW, let's leave that discussion to here: usapangfootball.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=internationalteams&action=display&thread=498

Well, whether Juan Luis suits up for us in the future, let's wish the guy well and hope he gets his back wages or whatever it is he's owed. In the meantime, I found this compilation:
I'm not sure who Juan Luis is but I assume, since it's his highlight videos, that he should be the one getting the touches.

Japan has recently withdrawn from Copa America!
We should try to get an invitation to cup because we have a bit of history with spain. Just like Mexico, they were invited in the cup.
BTW,,, the cup is only for South American countries but only 2 teams are invited to fill up other slots. The teams that are invited are the ones that has history with america or spain.
