A win versus The Turkmen is desperately needed. With Kyrgyzstan out, we have one of the thorns gone. The question we need to ask ourselves is do we want to face a red-hot Maldives side in their own backyard? I honestly believe that Maldives will beat Palestine like a drum. I also believe that Myanmar will win by at least two goals vs Kyrgyzstan. That said, no question Afghanistan slaps around Laos. We just need to pray that Laos goes crazy in the first half, and their poorly conditioned second-half collapse does not yield a torrent of goals. If that happens, we will have problems against Maldives and their home crowd.

Neil's recurring thigh injury could really affect his career. Imagine just played a game with no significant contact but still got an injury. But I saw his face in pain after taking a goal kick but still continues the game. Juani's injury is alarming, hope it is not ACL. So it's down to a win or a draw now. Let's go Azkals! Too bad we don't have Dr. Jobe with us.

My thoughts: Overall I felt the team did just well enough against Laos. I'm going to give Laos some credit, they took the Azkals out of their short passing game. The team did look a bit tired from the get-go. Even Schröck lacked his usual spark. I do hope Juani's injury isn't serious. Suddenly Dooley's bench choices made a lot of sense. Phil's in an international slump and he seemed way out of his groove. But truly we don't have any other real scoring threat so I hope he recovers from whatever funk he's in fast. How did he miss that goal? If it were anyone else I'd be more forgiving. De Jong with the ball almost meant an automatic turnover. Maybe he's trying too hard? I haven't seen Aguinaldo play before. So based on this game alone he shows some promise but his long passes were terrible. But I can see why people are excited about him. Doctora, I feel for the guy. He reminds me of Araneta. He does seem to have talent but I haven't seen him find his rhythm in the international stage. He may need a smaller tournament or friendlies to find it first. Peace Cup? This tournament became a real test of attrition. I'm grateful for the deep bench we have now. Neil's out but we have great backups for him. Thank goodness we have Lucena and Aguinaldo to replace Juani too. WTF was up with the ref in the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan game?! I felt pretty bad for Turkmenistan. It rained yellows and reds for the Turkmen and it literally rained too. Afghan flopping annoyed the heck out of me and it was paying off for them. But I probably won't feel so bad about this when we face them tomorrow.

This is a team we can beat. In 2012 we gave up two goals in the last 10 minutes to lose 2-1. In 2013 we beat them 1-0. I'd like to think we're a much better team than 2012 and 2013, and Turkmenistan will play without three of their starters. It would be difficult mentally for the team to lose those players and to forget the loss to Afghanistan. I say we have the edge. Go Azkals! ah. the infamous Roel Gener clearance. Had Ray Jonsson's close attempt got in, it would have been a draw.

De Jong with the ball almost meant an automatic turnover. Maybe he's trying too hard? +1 Maybe he is trying, so he can show Coach Dooley that He is deserving in starting the Turk game. so Lucena can be CB.. he does the the drive to win. But some of his passes were clearly off the mark.. Even Steuble had a somewhat off game.

I noticed the venue (Maldives) sits only at 500+.. darn, if PHI hosted this cup,, spectators will be at the millions.. QQ, was patino listed-up? and can we call him up when the azkals advance.. We were placed in the smaller stadium as their main pitch in Male was reserved for Group A, which of course includes Maldives. I think there are only two good stadia in the country. But when we get to the semifinal, we'll move to the better stadium. Plus, those on the grandstand and watching on TV were treated to a nice view of the ocean

I wonder where akosiabab is now. Doctora has been a non-factor for the past 2 games already.

They had to take a short plane ride to transfer to the new venue in the capital Male.

A bit off topic. Is Maldives being biased logistically and even with match officiating? Remember the delayed game due to stormy sea travel with many players got sea sick and after a gruelling match they arrived back at the hotel at 6am. Instead of recovery for players they are deprived of sleep. Of course the weather is not in their control but surely they are aware of these weather occurances and its effect on sea travel etc and should have some contingency plans. Then these 4pm matches are taking its toll on the players while the Maldives get to play at the best weather at 9pm local time with no hassle of sea travel from their hotel. Perks of a home team i should say. But what im a bit worried is their match officiating. These 2 recent matches...first between Maldives and Kyrgyzstan wherein the latter's coach complained in the post match conference about bias referees when they lost to the home team. Then with Afghanistan vs Turkmenistan. Seems like the refs are the ones who did the the elimination of the Turkmen a traditionally strong team. Will the upcoming crucial matches be decided again by the refs? I may sound like a conspiracy theorist but im just worried as a fan thats hopeful of our chances in winning this tournament. Just my thoughts.

I wonder where akosiabab is now. Doctora has been a non-factor for the past 2 games already. Dito pa!hehehe. Meron p game against turk.wait and see.sabi nga sa tweet ni neiil papasok na si ruben use his speed to distract behind the def para maging open ang midfield. Yan ang game plan ni dooley. Pag striker hndi ibig sabihin score lng.
