BTW,
I am not saying that utilizing the school system will not work. Until our professional league develops and matures enough to do this on their own, we need to find alternatives. As I said, we must find a feasible system that will take into account what we have in place to reach our players and certainly by teaching our schools to identify talent and train them will be one of the steps in that direction. We however also need to reach the large section of our youth who are no longer in school and for that we need to develop other mechanisms to find them.
But first and foremost, we also need to develop the infrastructure, primarily the football fields where they can play and learn about the game. I have read that the PFF has signed an agreement for a sponsor to build 50 football fields all over the country. This is a necessary step to expose our countryman to the sport and give our players a venue to develop their game.
I have also read that they have a long term program to produce more coaches to teach the millions of kids who have never been exposed to the game Even before we can start talking about professional academies, this are all very important foundations that must be put in place first. We have a lot of catching up to do compared to other countries, but it seems that we are doing our part in helping us achieve those goals.
