For fun, I was "fantasizing" what I would want when the day comes that our country can finally establish a premier league, would you prefer we have the following?
1). 18 or 20 teams
2). (A) teams located in the 20 biggest cities OR
(B) teams divided according to region and located in their regions'
biggest cities;
a. 8 or 10 teams in Luzon
b. 5-6 teams in Visayas
c. 5-6 teams in Mindanao
3). (A) teams have nicknames like the way the English, US and Australian
teams do (i.e. Gunners, Galaxy, Mariners, etc.) OR
(B) teams with "traditional" names like the Spanish and Italian teams
(i.e FC, AC, etc.) OR
(C) leave it up to the team owners to choose.
4). Should we place a limit on the number of import players per team? 2, 4 or 5 per team
5). What's the maximum number of imports playing on the field per team? 2, 3 or 4 players
6). With money not being an object, what should be the minimum number of seats when building a football stadium - 40K, 50K, 60K or 80K?
My answers to my own fantasy:
1). 20 teams
2). option (B)
3). option (C)
4). Four per team because this will significantly help improve the skills of our local talent BUT foreign-based Filipinos and players from the ASEAN countries will not be considered an import. Also after 8 years, teams will not be obligated to have the maximum four imports but rather will be in their discretion to have imports or not.
5). Three players per team on the field.
6). Minimum of 50 thousand seats with stadiums in Manila, Cebu and Davao having a minimum of 75 thousand seats. With big and modern venues, it will give us a good chance to host the World Cup in 2036. By this time (22 years after the WC in Brazil), if our national team continue to develop and progress and attract top talent worldwide, we should be ranked in the top 80.
