Since I'm from Davao City, let me share to you our city's only home field, the "Tionko Field and Grounds," also called "Agro Field," as it is beside the Agro-Industrial School. Sadly, the field isn't just for football, it has hosted a lot of events including variety shows like ASAP and Willing Willie. Therefore it is abused very much. Our city is in dire need of new locations for football. Coach Eckhard Krautzun is very concerned of this as he shared of this during one of the PFF's presscons a few months back.

Oh, you must be from Davao then. Good for you.
The Dutertes had to develop the grounds to generate tourism, and to place the sporting grounds outside downtown, but there are still setbacks like funding and informal settlers, so the football community here had to make do with Tionko Field and sometimes the pitch inside Crocodile Park.

Credits to the Football Davao blog. Just imagine how poorly-maintained the grass is at Tionko Field.

I use to play for UM high school back in the early 90's and we would practice at the PTA.... So sad to see that Davao has no football stadium now after all Davao has a strong team.

Just want to know... will davao city have a presentable football field with grandstand. Davao sport officials always says they support sport in the city. Just look at the city there's no nice or decent sport complex available at all....

Blame Davao City's informal settlers.
There is supposed to be a sports complex that should be placed in the University of the Philippines Mindanao campus in the northern suburb of Mintal. Although the city and the UP administration lobbied for it, the informal settlers that stay in the UPMin complex do not agree with this because their livelihoods will be affected since they claimed to have stayed in this land for more than 50 years, although it has been declared government property since Martial Law days.
China has vowed to UP admin to donate equipment from the Beijing Olympics for this supposed complex but it was never fulfilled because of this issue.
Partly to blame is the poor urban planning during the early terms of Mayor Duterte and late Mayor Elias Lopez. They were focused too much on housing and infrastructure that they ignored the city's sports programs. It compounded during the term of Mayor Ben de Guzman when his administration constructed the Artica Sports Dome even if the land it laid was in between a fault line and the construction was substandard.
So the likelihood of a football stadium in the city is still far-fetched at the moment.

So sad to hear that... There are a lot of good football players in Davao City. And to hear that our officials have no plans to build a stadium that too bad.

Dont worry, there's the sizeable Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City, around 2 hours from downtown Davao.
