Busy year ahead for PH footballBACOLOD CITY—Bracing for a busy year ahead, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has approved a P167 million budget for projects and programs for 2018, when the men and women’s national teams play in big international tournaments. PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said that while the federation will continue receiving subsidy from the International Football Federation (Fifa), Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Asean Football Federation (AFF), it would still need to raise about P32 million from other sources to meet the budgetary requirements. The budget proposal was approved during the PFF Congress at L’Fisher Hotel here over the weekend. The bulk of the budget, Araneta said, would go to the technical department, which covers grassroots and age-group teams, and the national teams. The construction of a new football center inside the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite, was also included in the budget along with the installation of the floodlights for the PFF National Training Center field. For their international campaigns, the Azkals will need P58 million as they try to qualify for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in March. The Azkals are also seeing action in the AFF Suzuki Cup late in 2018. Araneta said that P15 million will be allotted for the Malditas, who will vie in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan in April.“It will be a busy year for us next year,” said Araneta. “We’re hoping to raise more funds for our programs.” sports.inquirer.net/276215/busy-year-ahead-ph-football#ixzz51d3DTc3C

Maor Rozen 10 hrs
With so many Coaching Courses in the PHI for local Coaches, to hire a French assistant Coach for the WNT does not look normal considering that the team has already two non-filipinos Coaches. Maybe it is a good time to send to the States (where the WNT is training and living) a group of 5 Women Coaches to be in the training sessions and to learn from the foreigners. This is a good investment looking to the future, if it is true that football authorities are looking to future.....Mabuhay!

19 December 2020 PH Women’s National Team Achieves Highest FIFA Ranking At No. 65 The Philippines Women’s National Team gained its highest ever position at No. 65 in the latest FIFA Rankings released last 18 December 2020. The FIFA Women’s World Ranking is the world governing body’s quarterly ranking system for women’s national teams. The country’s previous best was at 67th last year on the back of two fourth placed finishes in the AFF Women’s Championship 2019 and the 30th Southeast Asian Games. The Philippine Women’s National Team also ranks No. 11 in Asia and third in the Southeast Asian region even without playing this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We congratulate the Women’s National Team for this achievement,” said Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta, Jr. “The ranking is a reward for the hard work and sacrifices of the people involved in women’s football in the country especially the players and coaches and of course, the PFF Women’s Committee. Certainly, this is a clear indication that women’s football in the country is continuously improving. As much as we are proud of this achievement, this also serves as a challenge for the PFF to make sure that the women’s national team and women’s football in general is given the support and the platform to succeed.” “Women’s football has been on a steady rise over the past few years,” noted PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “Much of the development in the women’s game is credited to the successes of the Women’s National Team, notably their fourth-place finish in both the AFF Women’s Championship and the 30th SEA Games last year. There are more opportunities in the pipeline for women’s football in the coming years which the PFF and the team will continue to explore with passion.” pff.org.ph/2020/12/19/ph-womens-national-team-achieves-highest-fifa-ranking-at-no-65/

Two standouts of Philippine women’s football will soon be flying to Japan to take part in the inaugural Japanese WE League. Sarina Bolden and Quinley Quezada have signed with Chifure AS Elfen Saitama and JEF United Chiba, respectively. The move comes after the Japanese league opened its doors to players from the Southeast Asian region through its ASEAN support program. Fostered by one of Asia’s strongest federations in a chivalrous bid to assist developing football nations, the Japan Football Association, through the newly launched “Women Empowerment” League encouraged clubs, with monetary incentives to sign players from Southeast Asia — particularly those endorsed by their federations like Bolden and Quezada. “I’d like to thank the Philippine Football Federation for helping and supporting me throughout this process, [and I also] thank the WE League for cultivating diversity, empowering women, and making it bigger than just soccer,” Bolden said in a statement. The WE League was established last year to become Japan’s newest professional top-flight division. It supersedes the former top division Nadeshiko League to house the nation’s most elite clubs, including NTV Beleza, Japan’s most decorated champions. Among those elite teams are Chifure AS Elfen Saitama, which selected Sarina Bolden; and JEF United Chiba, which picked Quezada. Both clubs banner former members of the Japanese national team. “I couldn’t help but jump out of bed to tell my parents when I found out the great news. God answered my prayers about this and I feel very blessed! I’m immensely grateful and excited for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started,” enthused Quezada. #ReadMore La Salle upsets FEU to keep Final Four hopes alive Bolden and Quezada last saw football action at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila. There, they figured prominently for the Philippines. Bolden scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Malaysia. Meanwhile, Quezada produced a consolation goal in the 1-2 loss to Myanmar during the bronze medal game. Quezada also had a productive outing at the AFF Women’s Championship earlier that year. She had four goals, including two stunners against Thailand. Strong performances by both 24-year-olds in 2019 were likely enough to earn interest from the clubs from Saitama City and Chiba City. Both teams are looking to beef up their squads ahead of the WE league’s maiden season, which kicks off later this year. “I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be a part of the WE League’s historic first season this year. I can’t wait to be out there, and in the words of Beyoncé, ‘Who run the world? Girls!’ Let’s get it ladies,” Bolden added. tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/bolden-quezada-to-play-in-japan-we-league/209544

pff.org.ph/2021/07/29/phi-wnt-training-camp-to-be-held-in-the-united-states/PHI WNT training camp to be held in the United States Thursday, July 29, 2021 With the target of reaching the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in sight, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) aims to strengthen its player pool of the Philippine Women’s National Team with a training camp and player tryouts set this August 2021 in Orange County, California, United States. The tryouts and training camp mark the team’s preparations for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers scheduled for 13-25 September 2021. The Philippines, ranked 68th in the FIFA Rankings, will face Hong Kong (ranked 76th) and Nepal (ranked 100th) in Group F of the qualifiers. The top team at the end of the group stage will qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 next year, for a chance to qualify to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Philippine Women’s National Team head coach Marlon Maro will oversee the tryouts and training camp in the United States. Joining him are assistant coaches Rose Ton Barinan, Michael Agbayani, Anthony Albao, and Marlon Pinero, together with physiotherapists Red Sajonia, Anna Demigillo, and Stella Perreras. The Team Manager is Jefferson Cheng, who also serves as PFF Women’s Committee co-chairperson. Maro weathers the expectation for the team as it bids to qualify for the Women’s Asian Cup for a second time after qualifying in the 2018 edition, where the country was a win away from qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019. “Over the past few months, the team has been doing online training sessions in preparation for the tournament and most of the players have been unable to play on the field for the past year due to the pandemic,” said Maro. “The US training camp will help the players gain valuable playing time through proper training, and at the same time to reinforce the squad for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.” PFF officials hope that the training camp will result in a good outing in the qualifiers. “It has been a challenge for the Philippine Women’s National Team just to prepare for the qualifiers given the current situation. We hope that through this United States training camp, the players are able to prepare well for the qualifiers,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta. “We wish the team all the best in their bid to qualify to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the second straight edition.” “It is the goal of the Philippine Women’s National Team to qualify once again to the AFC Women’s World Cup,” added PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “Through the US training camp, not only can we reinforce the Women’s National Team talent pool, but our players will gain the necessary playing experience as they gear up for their first competition in over a year.” PFF invites all interested US-based women’s football players to join the tryouts which will be held on 04-12 August 2021. PFF determined to retain Alen Stajcic for World Cup campaign The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is determined to retain the services of Australian coach Alen Stajcic for the national women's team's campaign in FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. Stajcic was appointed as the Philippines' coach just last October but has already had a massive impact on the program. Early Monday morning, he steered the team to their first ever Women's World Cup appearance with a thrilling win against Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of the AFC Women's Asian Cup. It was reported that Stajcic's contract with the team is only until after the Women's Asian Cup, but PFF President Mariano "Nonong" Araneta assured that they are already working on negotiations. "We have to talk to Coach Alen, because of course, he has brought the team to where it is now, and we want him to continue until probably the World Cup next year," said Araneta during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday. Araneta added that the PFF will do "whatever it takes for us to get him." Stajcic had previously coached the Australian women's national football team, leading them to the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics before being sacked in still contentious circumstances in 2019. Despite taking over just a few months before the Women's Asian Cup, Stajcic has already made a difference in the Philippine women's national football team, with the players singing praises of his work and the confidence he has given them. According to PFF Secretary-General Atty. Edwin Gastanes, they also intend to retain Stajcic's coaching staff which includes Nahuel Arrarte and Italian strength and conditioning coach Luca Tonetti. "Our first objective is to secure the services of Coach Alen and his team," Gastanes stressed. "Hindi biro -- he's one of the best women's coaches in the world." "Hopefully, ma-achieve natin 'yan, makuha pa rin natin ang kanyang services. And then we are finalizing the details of the plan (for the Women's World Cup)," he added. If the PFF agrees to terms with Stajcic, the Australian gaffer will also call the shots for the Philippines in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in May, the AFF Women's Championship in July, and the Asian Games in September. All three events will already be part of the squad's build-up to the Women's World Cup. The PFF also committed to giving Stajcic all the support he will require for the Filipinas' maiden World Cup stint. The Women's World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July 2023. "What he needs, we will give," Gastanes assured. Stajcic and the Filipinas are in the closing stretch of their historic campaign in the AFC Women's Asian Cup in India. After beating Chinese Taipei for a World Cup spot, they will take on South Korea in the semifinal on Thursday. news.abs-cbn.com/sports/02/01/22/pff-determined-to-retain-stajcic-for-world-cup-campaign?fbclid=IwAR0Semj3ObMiRXD4FYadCPFYT8_YOmx6sW0J2hgXFiI4s4E6-by6nB9gugI
