So far, so good for the upcoming UFL 2012/13 season. In a few, we will determine which club will definitely be exchanging places in Division 1 and Division 2. Will Navy be relegated? Will Pachanga be the new entry to Division 1?
With all the new signings coming in, we shall see a very exciting UFL season - both the Cup and the League. And surprisingly, we shall see more of our Euro-Azkals plying their trade in the UFL: Jason de Jong (Stallion), Jeffrey Christiaens (Global), and Denis Wolf (Global). We shall also see some of our scouted players trying out to play in the UFL: Antonio Ugarte, Wilbert Latoy, etc. Most importantly, we get to see the Inter de Madrid players play in the league: Rufo, Joaco, and possibly Alain.
Another development we will see is the new home of the UFL - the McKinley Hill Football Field. Exciting times for the players as they will definitely have a long-term place to play in, given it will be in artificial turf.
There are talks of allowing more teams outside Metro Manila for the upcoming Cup season, and possibly holding games outside Manila. There are rumours that the UFL will try to reach out to provincial FAs to find clubs that will attempt to file applications to play in the UFL Cup.
There have been talks to revise the League season, primarily the concept of having a promotion/relegation play-off. As of this season, the bottom-placed club in Division 1 will be relegated to Division 2 (currently Phil. Navy Redjuice); the top-placed club of Division 2 will be promoted to Division 1 (currently Pachanga), and the two bottom-placed teams will be relegated/disqualified to play in the upcoming league season (currently Sunken Garden United and Lions Meltique Beef). The disqualified teams for the next league season will be apparently replaced by the two best guest clubs of the UFL Cup, preferably those based outside Manila. Now, the revised rules state that the league will follow the system of Germany wherein the second-to-the-last placed club in Div 1 will have a play-off against the second-placed club of Div. 2, whoever wins will be granted their relegation/promotion status. Whether this system would work in the coming season will be determined soon.
More of my thoughts soon.

craigburrows: -Good to hear the plans of the UFL, the best news is that @uflphilippines and the PFF have aligned their schedules for the rest of the year. -@uflphilippines are aligning themselves with other regional leagues which means the majority of players for each team must be Filipino. -Next year the @uflphilippines will have three competitions but aiming for one and a half games per team per week.

This is good news which I was expecting to happen since they are now planning to join AFC competitions. However, if they are limiting the number of foreigners per team in the UFL, what happens to teams like Nomads FC which is almost entirely filled up with foreigners. They will have to recruit more Filipinos in order to stay within the UFL.
This will probably result in a redistribution of foreign players to the other teams, which will result in less blowouts and more competitive play. I predict that Global FC will dominate even more in this environment since they hold the most number of national team members in the league.
Anyways with this development it would be even more imperative for clubs to look for Filipinos who play abroad to move to the UFL in order to keep the standards up and remain competitive with the stronger clubs in the region in international competition.
As for the extra tournament, I presume that they will plan to add an FA Cup type competition that can be run concurrently with the official league tournament.

as for the proposed limit on the number of foreigner per teams i can say that don't do it drastically. we can say that for next season we can set 6-8 foreign players per team but 4-5 to play in the same time and the following season it will become fewer than the last year. at this point, we need the transition time that the teams can look for local players or based from abroad and strengthen their teams. after transition time we can set the limit permanently as we can see the teen azkals will improve and strut their wares in the UFL..
what will happen to the teams like Nomads, Pasargad, Union International Manila and Manila All japan?? let's wait and see

UFL just mentioned a new Cup competition involving the 1st and 2nd div teams. It will be called the "Super Cup" some of the difference are a limit on international players BUT exceptions will be made for teams such as NOMADS and PASARGAD(?). It will begin next year after the UFL Cup. Anyone else with more info?

UFL to debut new Super Cup tournament next seasonKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Thursday, June 21, 2012 · 7:10 pm As it wraps up its successful third year, the United Football League said it would be adding a tournament to its calendar next season in addition to the UFL Cup and regular league play. The Super Cup, which will be played in May next year, will feature the top 10 teams from the Division Once and top six teams from the Division Two. In its effort to bring the UFL to the provinces, the Super Cup will also feature a home-and-away format to allow province-based teams, such as Division Two squad Cebu Queen City United, to play in their own home turf. New rules on foreign players would also be applied to the Super Cup. Only five foreign players would be allowed for each team, which would then be reduced to four the following year. The league hopes that the rule will eventually be implemented to the whole season in its effort to be recognized in international play. “It’s a gradual change although we’re gonna try to forward that because we want to play in the President’s Cup,” UFL assistant technical director Ritchie Gannaban said. The President’s Cup is a club tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation for emerging football nations. The UFL also plans to form a youth football league which will develop young football players in the country. The country’s premier football league saw drastic developments in its third year, thanks to the growing popularity of football in the country. Aside from inking a historic five-year television deal with AKTV this year, the UFL also got boost from the arrival of some members of the Philippine national men’s football team, such as Azkals stars Phil and James Younghusband among others. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/ufl-to-debut-new-super-cup-tournament-next-season
From this, I'd say this tournament will most likely be like the Football League Cup (aka Carling Cup) in England, wherein only Premier League & Football League teams play in the competition. Seems this will definitely keep up the standards of club football in the Philippines in the years to come.

From this article, it sounds like they will gradually limit the number of foreigners per team, to comply with AFC regulations, but will take some time to do it. This probably means that they might not be able to play in the AFC President's Cup next year 2013, but in subsequent years.

Some player movements you might or might not know. Hector Zaghi to Pachanga FC, Their main interest are defenders now. Neckson Leonora to AF, heres another thing he is supposedly interested in joining the service and was the one who wanted to go to AF, according to the source. Heard at the Championship game broadcast: Lexton Moy going back to HK to try his luck again. The dagger, Dagroh is leaving to try his luck in Russia! Know anymore, post it
