Congratulations Sandro. That means that Barcelona recognizes you as one of the best players in your age group at FCB Escola. Keep up the good work.
BTW, How old is Zak Gilsenan? I thought he is the same age as Sandro? Are they playing together in the same team for this tournnament?

Thank you very much cjeagle!
Zak Gilsenan is the same age as Sandro. FCB Escola Barcelona will have more than 1 team and it is highly possible that they will be teammates.
Sandro is most excited to play against talented boys from all over the world. This will give him a good idea of what the skill level is in many parts of the world.
I will be posting updates on his FB page throughout the tournament! Meantime, good luck Azkals!

BTW Edmund,
Did you know Filipino Marlon Stockinger was or is in the Barcelona racing track, testing his F1 car for the Renault Series(one level below Formula 1), which will be starting soon in April. It might be a good idea for you, your wife and Sandro to meet him in person, so Sandro and Marlon could inspire each other to do great things for the country. Hopefully he does well this year and make his dream of being the first Filipino to make it to Formula One a reality.
He is currently a member of the Lotus F1 junior team. During his 2 days of testing there in Barcelona, he apparently consistently finished in the top 10. Not bad for a rookie at that level.

Sandro Reyes from the Philippines and Zak Gilsenan from Ireland will be teammates in the upcoming 2nd International FC Barcelona Escola Tournament from March 25-28, 2013 to be held in Barcelona City. They lived more than 10,000 miles apart and now find themselves leaving behind their old life to chase a dream. From Monday to Thursday next week, they will be side by side for the first time since being signed by FCB last July 2012. The boys are absolutely excited to play in the same team versus Escola teams from all over the world! Good luck also to Marlon Stockinger who may be the first Filipino F1 driver. There are really so many sports that we Filipinos can and will excel in like football and motor racing. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Attachments:

Congrats to Sandro for wearing jersey #10 for FCB Escola U-10, You are getting closer to La Masia. Soon you will be with Takefusa Kubo.
By the way, I read that the hotshot South Korean in La Masia could no longer stay with La Masia because his transfer to FC Barcelona did not meet the guidelines of FIFA. There were rumors that it was Barcelona's greatest "rival" which was the one who complained to FIFA about this.

Yup, Sandro has 2 assists so far in the 2 games he has played in this tournament, which his team both won 2-1 and 3-0. I was a bit surprised they gave him the #10 jersey, but it just demonstrates how highly Barcelona rate him in his age group within their organization.

Per Sandro's post
Sandro and his team split their two games Tuesday. After losing 1-3 in the first game, they won 2-1 in the second! Sandro and Zak had one goal each in the second game. Sandro's goal was a wonderful header while Zak's was a long range strike. Tomorrow's final group game will determine whether Sandro's team will be moving on to the championship group or be relegated to a lower bracket. Good luck boys!

Sandro turned 10 today and Barcelona FC sent him an email greeting with the picture of Ilie on the front. It is on his facebook account. Happy Birtday Sandro.
Unfortunately they lost the 3rd place match to FCB Poland today 0-2 in the FCB Escola tournament. He also set up the only 2 goals that his team scored but eventually lost, in the semifinals prior to this game.

Thank you for the greetings! Sandro is boarding a plane for Manila in a few hours. He will spend the Easter break with a small birthday party and watch the Little League Softball Nationals Championship games of his older sister in Tanauan, Batangas from April 1-7. He will fly back to continue his academic studies and football training shortly after. Aside from spending time with family in Manila, Sandro is looking forward to eating some of his favorite food that he cannot find anywhere in Barcelona!
