USVI is number 182 in FIFA ranking.
Im not really sure if USVI will the final team to play on FIFA match date 15. August. No even sure if they really will get to USA...
They should play a NT on 15. August , they can play clubs before and after that date.

I too feel the friendly with USVI is an opportunity. If we have a good showing and make the host stadium some money it could open doors to more friendlies in the US in the future. And who knows? There may be MLS scouts too.

I'd actually suggest playing the Greatwich-coached Morris County team, although his team is based in NJ.

BTW. the Chicago trip is not a done deal yet. They are still awaiting final confirmation from the Chicago Fire.
They should play the Fire on Aug. 15, a FIFA match date, so that they can get the best players for the Azkals. We can handle the USVI, without some of our European players.
The team Greatwich coaches is a youth team. The team he plays for is the men's amateur version. The 2 college teams within easy driving distance that can give them the most competition is Northwestern U(22) and Indiana U(ranked 5 last year). They can also arrange another friendly with the Columbus Crew in Ohio but the Filipino population there is quite small.

His chances of joining the Azkals just got smaller.

However, given his skill set, I'd look for him to hopefully take an executive role with PFF when that time comes.

He might want to reprise his role in the last Suzuki Cup when he made the team at the last minute. His coaching and playing duties with his club, would be over by December and he should be available. Same situation as in the last Suzuki Cup. The only thing is we are deeper now. However, we don't know who among our European based players will actually be released, so he might be valuable even as a sub. After all, he did score some key goals the last time around.

Back in the days, we were like the USVI in ASEAN competitions, there was even a 15-1 score we suffered, if i remember right. Now, we are "ok" in ASEAN/Some Asia, though we haven't proven ourselves yet (what have we won so far???). This is a first time we are venturing to the Americas (CONCACAF). We have to start somewhere. USVI is as good as any. Let's hammer USVI and make a statement. Then we can start getting to the rest of the them. Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, till we get to the stronger ones. Patience guys. By the way, what is the FIFA ranking of USVI? totally agree, dahan dahan muna...and matuloy na lang muna, sana matuloy sana matuloy

IF we do play USVI, to make it worthwhile(training wise) don't make it a FIFA "A" so you can use a lot more subs, though it won't count with points. But if they do want FIFA points, make it worthwhile, how about starting all/or most of our subs. At least they'd get the benefit of being in the drivers seat so to speak. People like Misagh, Burkey(maybe Freddy G?), Doctora, del Rosario, Christiaens, Deyto. It would be a great time to see what they've got in an away game. Sure the opponent is weak, but as a "national team" they'd probably still play their hardest and wouldn't give up easily.

That will be up to Weiss, then. If the Chicago camp pushes through, this might just be his chance.

I think it would become official when the Chicago Fire announces the match and the schedule publicly and start their marketing push. They normally would place an ad in the Chicago Tribune or other local publications, if they plan to have a friendly at Toyota Park, to let the fans know about the game, and there is no mention of the Philippines so far there and in their website either. Until then, it is all tentative. Let us be patient and just wait.

This could be a good time to meet-up with cjeagle and bimpel, too.

This could be a good time to meet-up with cjeagle and bimpel, too. Definitely badleftfoot. Let us start the Pinoy version of Sam's Army in these games. They also started small at one time.
