@caz, kala ko ABS-CBN had game rights? if not, maybe AFC will have this on their site....
Muller wont make it, I think his team wont let him, if pede pa sana, then there would have been a lot of buzz about it, not to mention that Sacapano has been prepped for the game. Hopefully lang talaga, our players will be ready with the altitude. I dont care how many foreign based Filipinos we have, they all play at areas that is of a lower altitude, so hopefully that wont bite us back.

@caz, kala ko ABS-CBN had game rights? if not, maybe AFC will have this on their site.... I may be mistaken but it is my understanding that ABS-CBN got rights to cover just the home game. A TV station in Mongolia should cover the second leg, though ABS-CBN may have struck a deal to broadcast their feed here. I was hoping someone had heard something more concrete so that there wouldn't be any doubts. I read that we landed a Fil-Dutch goalie. Half a mo' while I dig up the link.

Here's the article. My bad, he's Fil-Danish, not Dutch. MANILA---The Philippine football team has widened its player pool for the AFC Challenge Cup group stage qualifying with the inclusion of foreign-based players and those taken from the tryouts that German coach Hans Michael Weiss conducted last month. Among the additions in the 48-player list that will be submitted by the Philippine Football Federation to the AFC are Filipino-Danish goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard, Filipino-Germans Patrick Reichelt and Manuel Ott and Filipino-Scottish James Hall. Falkesgaard, 19, is a goalkeeper currently playing for Brondby in the Danish second division. He has represented Denmark in the Under-19 and Under-20 levels, but Azkals team manager Dan Palami is still inviting the 6-foot-3 Falkesgaard to join the national team since the International Football Federation (Fifa) allows players to switch countries at any level. Palami learned about Falkesgaard from Filipino-Danish players Dennis Cagara and Jerry Lucena, who are also expected to see action for the Azkals if they make it to the group stage qualifying in Bangladesh. Reichelt, who stands 5-foot-10 and can play striker or winger, is attached with Energie Cottbus II in the German fourth division, while Hall signed a one-year deal with the English Premiere League club in 2007. Hall, 21, has long been in the Azkals’ wish list but injuries and his commitment with Everton before prevented him from suiting up for the Azkals. He, along with younger brother Ryan, was in Bacolod to watch the Azkals beat Mongolia, 2-0. The 18-year-old Ott, who plays for FC Ingolstad, started in the three games for the Azkals in the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifying event in Vientiane, Laos last year. Palami is still hoping that Filipino-German rightback Stephan Schrock, who plays for Greuther Furth, will be able to beef up the squad if it makes it to Bangladesh. www.inquirer.net/sports/articles/More-talent-in-Azkals-player-pool.html

As much as I would want to say "yay" to that development, dyahe naman because the more games we can play, the better our chances of increasing our ranking. that would have been a a "free" friendly for us compared to us inviting other countries to play against, where we would have to pay their FF to have them organize their team and play against us.

I like the part when they decide to put as on the seeded team and we get automatic spot. We are moving forward, we are part of the futbol community now

I thought that too, but I eventually considered that we may be playing a lot more games now than our former qualifier counterparts. If we continue to do well in our currently entered tournaments we'll see our ranking go up. I haven't seen so much Azkals action in so short a time since... probably ever! So the qualifiers are a loss in "free friendlies" but we gain by having more opportunities with bigger fish to fry. All part of moving up, I guess.

I think last year(2010) was a record(11) for most number of official games played. If we come close to that this year and do decently we will gain some points and move up the rankings. Hopefully with the luck of the draw, we can make it to third round group stage of WC qualifying which means we will have picked up a lot of points, since these WC qualifying games are rated higher by FIFA and affects the calculation points a lot more than the AFC Challenge cup which are considered a friendly tournament by FIFA. Countries gain a lot more points even from a draw against higher rated opponent than beating up on lower rated ones. The most important thing though is to gain experience against these higher rated opponents which will help improve our level of play in the future.

We won against the defending champions, and that was a headliner for AFF that we were a force to reckon with, thus giving other countries the chance to qualify too (for short: they think whoever were playing against would have a run for their money)

We won against the defending champions, and that was a headliner for AFF that we were a force to reckon with, thus giving other countries the chance to qualify too (for short: they think whoever were playing against would have a run for their money) We also brought in the highest ever television ratings for the Suzuki Cup. So I guess the AFF can't afford to not have the Philippines on board. Perhaps they're just as excited as we are. I wish I could see the faces of the silly hosts of Star Sports' "Football Crazy" back in 2007, who laughed when asked about the Philippines' chances in the tournament then. Look at us now, buddy!
