if they can't play on the 2nd leg, let's just hope that the reinforcements will give us positive results. Some of the expected reinforcements will not go to to Mongolia. Stephan Schrock (club , injured) Jerry Lucena (club) and Dennis Cagara I dont think will be there. Patrick Hinrichsen just tweeted that he will not go to Mongolia , but ready for Myanmar..

Dennis Cagara will definitely not be there. He is still hoping bec. of the unsettled situation at left back, that he might get called up by the Danish national team. Most observers there though agree that his chances are very slim, as there are a lot of players ahead of him, he is injury prone, and relatively old at 25 to make a debut for the national team plus he doesn't even have a contract yet with a professional team as he is just coming of a serious injury. It will take take time for him(about a month or two) to file a change of affiliation with FIFA, since he played with several Danish youth teams in the past, so I don't see him going to Myanmar either. I hope he makes his decision in time for WC qualifiers.
As for Jerry, he wants to go as soon as his passport is processed but I doubt his club will allow him to leave for both the Mongolia and Myanmar stints. They might allow him to go to Myanmar. If not, WC qualifiers will be next as that will occur during the postseason.
Yup Patrick said that his passport was not received in time by AFC for the Ulan Bator stint, so Myanmar is his next possible stint. Schrock will be gone for 10 weeks bec. of injury, so he is out as well for both events.
Hopefully Van Bosche, the Hall brothers and Espinosa will have their passports in time for the Myanmar stint.

Here is my response to a comment about Filipinos not being able to take a loss to a Japanese team if they have a tuneup in Japan prior to the Mongolian game on Filipino football esp. since our European reinforcements will not arrive till later:
Nah, When we scheduled a match against the PCU team in bacolod, there was a chance we could lose that game since we didn't know what level that team was compared to ours. A lot of our foreign based players haven't even arrived yet either. Same principle here. We needed a quality sparring partner and a Japanese youth team will do. I think most people would realize that Japan is the Asian champion and that we are nowhere close to their level. Besides we will eventually face some real strong teams in WC qualifying and most people will realize then where our level is in Asian football. You don't have to worry about most Filipinos fragile ego. It happens all the time in international football whether you are a strong team or not. When national teams disappoint, the whole nation can fall into depression. There would be a temporary drop in the stock market, etc. but eventually life goes back to normal. I am not sure our passion for football has reached that level yet but we should be resilient enough to cope.

None of this guys seem to have a passport yet and it will take awhile to process their papers. If it is true that Falkesgaard has played for the Danish youth teams, he will need to file a change of affiliation with FIFA first before he can play for the Philippines which takes a month or 2 to process. Besides I don't think he has decided to play for us yet if he is still being considered for the Danish team.

Benguet weather keeping Azkals in shapeBY MARIA ELENA GONZALEZ BAGUIO City. – Philippine Azkals Coach Hans Michael Weiss said high altitude training in the highlands is keeping his boys in shape, both mentally and physically. Weiss said the Baguio-Benguet leg of the training is just a portion of a three-part regimen for the prized team. "This the first part of our training, to get out of the hustle and bustle of Manila and find peace here while training," her stated. Weiss stressed highland temperature is perfect for their aerobic endurance training with the next three stages of the rigid regime to be completed in Japan where they will head for a football training center. The German coach said: "Baguio is a different place; we find more peace here, better training," in preparation for the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup match against Mongolia on March 16 in Ulan Bator. James Younghusband said he is confident the team will be able to defeat its Mongolian counterpart. "We are in a very strong position and our players are better than the Mongolian players." Weiss said the team will continue to train at the Brent School International playing grounds for the duration of their stay here, saying the facility is more secure than the Benguet State University field. A practice game with Baguio Pinikpikan’s was held Wednesday afternoon at the state university field and another matchup is scheduled Saturday. The team acceded to a press briefing Wednesday morning at the Baguio Country Club and a courtesy call with Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Benguet Gov. Nestor Fongwan in the afternoon. Azkals rout Baguio selection in friendlyabs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 02/23/2011 9:35 PM | Updated as of 02/24/2011 4:02 PM ANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals outpaced a selection of the Baguio United Football Club, 9-1, in a friendly game that served as a tune up for their upcoming match against Mongolia on March 15. Among those who scored for the Azkals were Ian Araneta, Yanti Barsales, Joebel Bermejo, Chieffy Caligdong and Phil Younghusband. Younghusband, who claimed that it was not their best game, made a total of 4 goals in the match. The Filipino-British midfielder incurred 3 penalties during the game. His brother, James, sustained a minor injury midway through the match. The tune-up is part of the Azkals’s high-altitude training in Baguio City as they prepare for the freezing conditions in Ulan Bator where they are scheduled to play Mongolia. Azkals coach Hans Michael Weiss said the thin air in Baguio will help his boys build stamina. “They have small problems to adapt because the air is really thin and it takes some time to adapt,” the coach said. Baguio, located at 4,921 feet above sea level, is one of the ideal spots in the Philippines for high-altitude training. “In the end, you'll have more oxygen in the blood and it will pay off later on,” Weiss added. Danish Double Doubtful Over Qualifiers by Charles Hizon on February 23, 2011
Midfielder Jerry Lucena and defender Dennis Cagara are reportedly doubtful over the upcoming second leg qualifying clash against Mongolia. The two are still waiting for the paperwork to be processed before they can play for the Philippine national team. Cagara and Lucena who both have Filipino decent, play their football in Europe and their experience will be vital for the Azkals if they are to be level with football-developed countries.
Lucena currently plays for Danish side AGF Aarhus. He is a central midfielder who can also play right back. Asked if what his favorite position was: “In my club I play right fullback, but have only played it for 1/2 year. Before that I played the last 10 years as a central midfielder- and that is my favorite place.”
* He wears number 21 for his club, who reserved the squad number 12 for the fans, since the fans are the "12th man" on the pitch.
ennis Cagara can play as a defender or a winger. Before he played for Bundesliga (German League) side Hertha Berlin where he made a total of 8 appearances when he helped side battle from relegation. Cagara set the record of being the youngest debutant in the Danish Superliga championship during his time at Brondby. He also made a total of 43 appearances in Denmarks youth national team.
In other developments, it is also reported that Filipino-Danish goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard who stands 6-2 is also in line to join the squad. He currently plays for Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF.

Phil predicts 5-0 win vs MongoliaBy FRANCIS SANTIAGO February 24, 2011, 4:59pm BAGUIO CITY — If Mongolia plans to go on full tactical attack against the Philippine football team in their AFC Challenge Cup qualifying rematch on March 15, expect the Azkals to win in a breeze. “If they (Mongolia) play more attacking because they need to score goals, then I think we can score 4-0 or 5-0 win,” said star striker Phil Younghusband, 23, told the Bulletin during a lull in the Azkals’ light training and football clinic with underprivileged children yesterday here at the Brent International School. “Their defense will open up, giving us more opportunities to score.” The Blue Wolves lost to the Azkals, 2-0, in their first meeting in Bacolod City last month, and will need to be more aggressive in their home game in Ulan Bator to have the chance of turning the tide in their favor and advance to the group stage. But it won’t be easy as they need to win by a margin of three goals. In the event the Blue Wolves decide to be in defensive mode again, Younghusband is optimistic of mirroring their feat last time. “Maybe 1, 2 or 3 to nil if we get lucky,” added Younghusband despite the fact that they will be missing the services of keeper Neil Etheridge, defender Robert Gier and Chris Greatwich. Etheridge has a commitment to his club, Fulham in London. It’s also uncertain if Jason de Jong, who was recently acquired by Persiba Balikpapan, a club in Indonesian Super League, can join the Azkals as he is currently training with the Indon team. But team officials say De Jong will go to Ulan Bator for the match. Despite missing some of his satyrs, Azkals coach Hans Michael Weis believes the remaining players can get the job done. “The ones who are not available, I can’t count on them. As much as we regret it or find it pitiful, the ones who are here will do the job,” the German coach said. “It’s always like that in life. Sometimes we must make adjustments and sacrifices.” Team manager Dan Palami, who arrived here Thursday, earlier said Eduardo Sacapano will be a suitable replacement for Etheridge in case the 6-foot-3 keeper will have to skip the game. Too overconfident. With the climate, altitude, missing players, unfamiliarity with the artificial pitch as well as how the ball moves in the thin atmoshphere, there are too many disadvantages to consider to make such predictions. Stay humble Phil. Raising expectations will just make it harder on yourself and on your team. You have just increased Mongolia's motivation to prove your wrong., Take a page from Manny Pacquaio's book. It will earn you more respect.
