^ I heard from somewhere that Chieffy joined the Azkals in Dubai because all of the Azkals physios are going there as well. So he might not play games, but instead get attended by our NTs physios.

I read the same thing in an article posted earlier. Fine and well, if his rehab is solely reliant on the NT physios and getting him back is a priority especially for a cog like him. But I really don't think this is necessary. I believe they would have found ways to continue the rehab here. What if he suffers setbacks in his recovery and won't be able to play against Malaysia or even the CC, what then? I think it would have been nicer to give someone waiting on the wings a chance to get ready in case of any scenario. With that said, get well soon Chief! We need ya

So at least we know the released line-up wasn't final. Great to know we have our top two keepers and arguably our second choice DM coming. With that said, I still can't understand why Araneta and Gener are still on the list. Nothing personal against them but higher quality competition have left them exposed exposed and now that they're past their prime we should look for younger options to be given exposure (Beloya etc). But my biggest concern is why Chieffy is still coming to the camp with his injury. I doubt he will be able to do anything there that he can't do here except for some friendly bonding with the squad. Babakasyon lang ba siya dun? Hopefully we could start looking at options like Christieans(who is not a goal scorer like Chief but a more natural winger). Although I think he wasn't released fort he camp though.
I'm praying the Phil and Dennis combo upfront clicks and will pose a serious threat come Nepal. Agree!!!

Ruben Doctora IS going to the UAE.
Bervic Italia was going but passport issues sidelined him.

Sorry no official list yet released by PFF. Denis Wolf... a minute ago he tweeted this: Today there will be a decision for dubai Nate isn't going to Dubai, so we are left with Phil, Ian, Doctora and Beloya if Denis decides not to go. The coach has ALWAYS played Ian despite his long scoring drought. I hope he plays Beloya instead if Denis won't go. crossing fingers... But I hope Denis decides NOT to go if he won't come to the CC. Might as well play the guys sure to attend the CC.

Friendlies vs top teams spice up Azkals UAE buildupBy Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated February 07, 2012 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - A Philippine Azkals crew cramming to get into shape and achieve cohesion for its upcoming AFC Challenge Cup campaign hopes to make the most out of its Middle East training camp. The Azkals leave for the UAE tonight via Emirates for their 10-day camp, cranking up their buildup for the March 8-19 Challenge Cup in Nepal away from the many distractions in Manila and temporarily free from their club commitments. Highlight of the training are friendlies against Uzbekistan’s Olympic team on Saturday night at Maktoum Stadium Al Nasr Sports Club in Dubai; against Qatari first division side Al Ahli Sports Club Monday night in Doha; and against Qantas Australian U-23 on Thursday also at the Maktoum Stadium Al Nasr Sports Club in Dubai. “It’s super-fantastic for us (to play these teams),” said Azkals coach Michael Weiss. “It’s a wonderful opportunity, regardless of the results. I always did it wherever I was in – China, Africa. With the younger ones, you need to face stronger oppositions, then you’ll grow as a team and then you’ll be ready for the Challenge Cup, even without the professional players,” he added. According to the organizers, Phl XI will bring 18 players, led by Fil-British Phil and James Younghusband and Rob Gier, Fil-Spanish Angel Guirado and Carli de Murga, and two new recruits, Guirado’s older brother Luis and Fil-German Denis Wolf. Chieffy Caligdong is in the roster after getting clearance from sports specialists who examined his injured knee again over the weekend. Doctors and team officials are optimistic Caligdong will heal and be ready in time for the Challenge Cup. www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=775127&publicationsubcategoryid=69
Are they there already?

Ray Jonsson replacing Jerry Barbaso ? Ray Jonnson has just said he will arrive on Sunday in Dubai, so he'll miss the Uzbek game, then? Maybe Barbaso goes with the U21? Marwin plays mid doesn't he? Wonder where they'll play him?

Too bad that Jerry Barbaso wasn't included. It's also nice to see Doctora and Marwin in the lineup. It would be interesting to see who will play in the mid.
