Mueller must feel like he is under siege all the time just like in the SEA games. At least the Uzbeks have an excellent reputation. In the SEA games, we were getting outplayed by weaker teams, all thanks to Coach Weiss.

Fulltime Azkals 0-3 UZB U23 Not too bad. Sabio's a star born tonight. We did well with short passes but lacked the composure to maintain it (switching to long ball mid-play). Long balls on counterattack didn't work against the quicker UZB players. Muller did very well. De Jong was classic De Jong but held his own in midfield when not collecting cards. Live chat was a win. A bit weak defensively at the flanks.

even though we have the right players the coach will still make them do the wrong assignment.

Full time thoughts:
We're just being seriously outclassed by the Uzbekis. The Philippine team lacked the defensive bite for this match. The speed of the Uzbeki players totally surpassed ours. Needs improvement in communication, chemistry, defense and coaching.
Man of the match: Jason Sabio! If only Aly B were present, he would have been a great combination and a great alternative for Rob Gier!

Sabio continued his impressive performance. Mueller played well enough. The rest was classic Coach Weiss!

Azkals yield to Uzbek U-23by Dennis Gasgonia, ABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 02/12/2012 2:36 AM | Updated as of 02/12/2012 2:41 AM MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals bowed to the Uzbekistan Under-23 Olympic team, 3-0, in a friendly game at the Maktoum Stadium Al Nasr Sports Club in Dubai. Filipino-German keeper Roland Mueller was the busiest Azkal in the game as the Uzbeks repeatedly bombarded the goal with shots. Football action between the Philippine Azkals and the Uzbekistan U-23 team. In the 12th minute, the Filipinos were caught napping on defense when Kenja Turaev escaped from his defenders and scored a goal that placed the Uzbeks at a 1-0 advantage. Thirty minutes later, Uzbek Ivan Nagaev hiked his team’s lead to 2-0 when he struck past goalkeeper Mueller in the 42nd minute. Half-time statistics showed that the Uzbeks enjoyed 58 ball possessions against the Azkals’ 42. The Filipino footballers also committed 8 fouls in the first half, giving the Uzbeks several free kicks. At the start of the second half, the Azkals came out with an improved passing game. The Azkals even had a near goal in the 59th minute when they pulled off a good cross. The Uzbek goal keeper, however, was able to block Angel Guirado’s header. In the 65th minute, the dangerous Nagaev struck again by taking advantage of the Azkals’ uncoordinated defense. His shot found its way to the back of the net, bringing the score to 3-0. It was clear from the match that the Azkals need to shape up some more since they often struggled to keep up with the well-conditioned Uzbekistan team. The friendly is part of the Azkals’ preparations for the upcoming 2012 Challenge Cup in Nepal in March. The Azkals will next face the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) professional football team Al Ahli SC in Doha on Monday. Their last game in UAE will be against Australia’s Qantas Under-23 on Thursday. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/02/11/12/azkals-yield-uzbek-u-23?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

I watched the game in tv, just my observations. Too much dribbling is the problem, unlike the Uzbeks U-23 with their 1-2 touch passes. Angel Guirado's level of play decreases I think and he is like Jayjay Helterbrand in basketball with his too much dribbling. Long passing is also an eyesore, why not just settle for a short passes "pass and move" and also Phil Younghusband's negative body language is evident in this match and also in his UFL games whenever his teammates will not pass the ball to him.

Yeah, as spotty as our defense was, I was more frustrated by our forwards. Phil just shuts down when things don't go his way, even if the ball is still in play right by him. Angel, who was our only advantage in pace and physicality up front, was just too brash. They may be big fish in the small SEA pond, but they need to be smarter and more alert in the world game. Wolf wasn't much of a factor, but at least that's the only negative thing I have to say about him. Juan Luis, in spite of his poor clearance that led to a goal, played decent. Doctora didn't have the pace, but no one (save Angel) in the Azkals did.

*offside trap? our back 4 ain't that much pacy. *angel guirado winger? with his physique, not the type of a winger, i can't blame the coach because we lack depth squad.. *our midfield didn't even put pressure to uzbek-under 23. i'm not really a pundit/player or even a coach here,I say the management should change the system..just sayin'

Nothing is more frustrating as a forward when all you do is run for a hail mary pass coming from our mid or defense. It is also frustrating when a forward put himself in a better position just to see his efforts wasted when the mid over dribbles and fails to deliver a decent pass. Thats professional football for you gentlemen.
May I remind everyone before the Suzuki Cup, #Azkals played a Thai team and lost 9-1. Friendlies are to experiment and try new things. -Chris Greatwich Yes, we all remembered that. I also recall that it was under a different coach.
