MANILA—Dennis Cagara, a highly-touted Fil-Danish defender, will make his home debut for the Philippines when the Azkals face Nepal in an international friendly on October 11 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. Injuries and conflicts in schedule have delayed Cagara’s debut with the Azkals, whose last international match ended in a 1-3 defeat to Kuwait in the second round of World Cup qualifying. This time, though, the former member of the Danish youth squad, who has played for Hertha Berlin in the German Bundesliga, has confirmed he is reinforcing what could be the strongest national side assembled. The Nepal friendly will mark the first time that the Azkals will have a full complement of players since it falls on the international football break, Araneta said. Clubs are inclined to release players during the international break. “(Dennis) Cagara will join us for two matches,” said Azkals manager Dan Palami. “He is a good addition to the team with his skills and experience.” The Azkals will also face Singapore in another international friendly on October 7 in Singapore. Meanwhile, The Philippine Football Federation announced that tickets for the international friendly will be sold starting October 1 through various Ticketworld outlets. Local Organizing Committee chair Bonnie Ladrido said ticket prices range from P300 for side bleachers to P3,000 for the center area of the lower grandstand. Prices for the side area of the upper and lower grandstand are pegged atP1,000 and P1,500, respectively. The center lower grandstand will still cost P2,000, while the center bleachers area tickets has been priced at P500. As a measure to prevent the hoarding of tickets, Ladrido said they will limit purchases to a maximum of five per person. PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said they needed to charge for tickets to augment the cost of hosting the Nepal national team and for bringing in the Azkals players from Europe, including goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, Stephan Schrock, Jerry Lucena, Paul Mulders, Ray Jonsson Manny Ott and Rob Gier. Etheridge Lucena ----- JYH ----- Aly B. ---- Cagara Guirado ---- Mulders ---- Shrock --- caligdong ---------------PYH-----Mark H.-------------- My dream team I guess..... That's a pretty solid lineup. I truly hope we'll be able to field our strongest team when we play our friendlies. We should shoot for the low 140's in FIFA rankings by the end of next year. I think it doable.

04 October 2011 Tickets for Nepal friendly selling slowly Tickets for the home friendly against Nepal on 11. October is selling slowly. Today 4 days after sale started, tickets in all price categories from 300 to 3000 pesos are still available.
______________
I still think the game will sell out. It just doesn't have the hype of the WC qualifers.
Azkal fans, this will be the first time that the Dream team Azkals (as Dan Palami has taken to calling them) will play in front of the home crowd. It should be a treat.

If we play well against Singapore I think those tickets will sell quickly. Perhaps buying tickets for past matches in Rizal have left a sour taste in the mouths of a lot of people, what with lining up for hours to find the place mysteriously sold out due to scalping and hoarding. Maybe Ticketworld is efficiently limiting sales-per-person and cutting off scalpers, hence the slow sales? Not to mention the higher ticket prices. I thought they were supposed to go down by now? Wasn't the high price before due to the renovations done to meet FIFA standards? Nevertheless, I'm confident that we'll pack the stadium. Just need to hype it up some more. They also need to stress that Nepal may be an opponent in next year's Challenge Cup.

Caz,
Indeed they are limiting sales to 5 per person to avoid scalpers and allow more people to watch the game. I am still pretty confident it will sell out by game day.

I'm pretty sure Mr Palami will think of something if ticket sale won't improve in the next couple of days. But Im also confident that tickets will be soldout especially when the Azkals goes back from SG.

Yes he better, but I also think it might be a lack of marketing. I'm hopeful if we do well in Singapore, the lukewarm fans might consider seeing the game. Makes me think if we had it in Panaad more people would have gotten tickets. Its a few more days 'til match day, I'm still hopeful...

Would be awesome to see a lineup along these lines
Neil JYH-----Gier-----Aly------Cagara -------Schrock-------Lucena------ Angel--------Mulders-------Chieffy ---------------PYH---------------------
or
Neil Schrock-------Gier------Aly------Cagara JYH-------Lucena-------Mulders----Chieffy -------------Angel-----------PYH--------------
With Mulders more offensive and Lucena more of a holding mid. Sub in Ott if Lucena can't make the trip and Ray for Cagara. Ray could also play RB if needed as he is two footed. In the second formation, JYH and Schrock could interchange spots or Schrock play more of a free right side role (Dani Alves light for Barca) and JYH could tuck in a little.

Full-bodied Azkals brace for Nepal duelBy Olmin Leyba (The Philippine Star) Updated October 03, 2011 12:00 AM MANILA, Philippines - Azkals officials look delightfully forward to Philippine XI’s international friendly against Nepal on Oct. 11, excited over the prospect of unleashing a full-strength squad in front of their countrymen at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. “I’m very, very happy since it’s the first time since I took over that we will have a full squad,” said Azkals’ coach Michael Weiss, who assumed the reins last January. Europe-based pros Jerry Lucena, Dennis Cagara, Paul Mulders, Stephan Schrock, Neil Etheridge, Ray Jonsson and Rob Gier, who couldn’t join the Azkals in previous sorties due to club commitments or injuries, will all be at Weiss’ disposal in the 7 p.m. friendly against the Nepalese. “We have a very nice team. We have to show fans that we deserve the respect with a fantastic performance,” Weiss said. “We will see the true potential of the team,” team manager Dan Palami said, for his part. “It’s really a rare opportunity to have the guys to come together and will allow Filipino fans see what the team is really capable of.” The Azkals (half seniors, half Under-23) are currently competing in the Long Teng Cup, a four-nation tournament, in Kaohsiung, Chinese-Taipei. They were slated to play the host Taiwanese last night in their second assignment. After the Long Teng Cup, the full-bodied Azkals will fly to Singapore to play a friendly on Oct. 7 at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore before returning to Manila for their home match against Nepal. www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.as....ord=sp_football

I do want to see another International match there. But they do need to upgrade the pitch and the seating to match, if not surpass Rizal Memorial Stadium. The pitch alone in Rizal would ensure the Azkals playing there over Panaad. It's that good.

Maybe PFF should lower the ticket pricing for friendly matches. Baka nauubusan na ng budget ang mga tao. lol. Seriously, they also have to consider the events that are ongoing around this time of the month or this quarter. Events like major concerts, UAAP, NCAA, UFL, etc. These are all in Manila.
PS: not to mention its nearing December already. Nagtitipid na mga tao for Christmas. hehe.
Just a thought, if PFF & Azkals continue their contract with ABS-CBN, they should look into tying up Marketing with TFC/ABS-CBN Global. Because of their exposure in TFC, overseas Pinoys know them well already (as a team). Something like, if you're a TFC subscriber, you can get a discounted ticket to watch an Azkals match when you go home to the Philippines around this time.
