It would be a shame, even for Our Euro players in top leagues, to miss the chance playing against the Galaxy. However, I'd love for our locally-based players to gain experience from this incredible friendly. Another thing, I believe the crowd will be a bit torn in this one, marveling at goals from Donovan and Becks as well as from our players.

Tom Payne, President of Business Operations for the Galaxy will be in Manila this week to inspect the Stadium and conclude the negotiations. Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Governor and National Team Manager Dan Palami and Cathy Rivilla, Executive Director of the Younghusband Football Academy will be assisting Mr. Payne during his visit. The PFF and Men’s National Team Management will release a statement regarding the details of the exhibition match should the arrangements with Mr. Payne and the Galaxy be concluded successfully.

If the game goes through, I think we will be playing without our Euro's and will have to use our local and locally based talents(and maybe Ray Jonsson?). As for the cheering, I think we will all cheer for goals made by both teams but in the end our hearts will still belong to the Azkals. sniff sniff <<< wiking, emotional... Go Azkals!!!!!!

Becks better bend one in this game for the experience to be complete.
Its pretty cool to know that this comes on the eve of the first anniversary of the Vietnam win, which sparked the whole Football renaissance in the Philippines.
Its not Madrid, Manchester or whatever, but this is probably as big for our boys as the NBA All-Star match was for Gilas

Is this confirmed already? The LA Galaxy website shows that they have a scheduled friendly match against Melbourne Victory on 06 December at Etihad Stadium (is this in Kuwait or somewhere in that region?). Also, I read in one article that the official announcement is supposed to be made by LA Galaxy.
A 03 December match day is more plausible if LA Galaxy has another match scheduled on 06 December.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for this match to happen but let's not count our chickens before they are hatched. Let them work quietly on the arrangements first to help ensure that the Galaxy people get convinced that playing a match here is a viable option for their club and its brand.

Etihad Stadium is in Melbourne, Australia.
If this does happen I can see it the weekend after the Melbourne game.

Via Twitter: "@nolieala I guess this planned David Beckham-Galaxy football event is serious. Just got a proposal for SMC to sponsor it. Costs r staggering tho." Well, atleast SMC is tapped for sponsorship, now we can take it to consideration that Galaxy is considering a reality game against Azkals. Question though is who to field for Azkals? Facilities are quite acceptable as far as i can see it, we still have a month to prepare if the Galaxy representative nod of the Rizal pitch as a venue. But yeah, expect a STUNNING ticket cost! Again who to field? I prefer local based and some outside based players with no game at that time. We should not push Euro clubs to let our internationals play for just a friendly like this. We need the players vitally next year.

Im not sure if you guys would agree, but if you ask me. I would rather see it "LA Galaxy vs UFL All Stars" since most off our National team Players are playing in the UFL and players based abroad wont be available for release since its a friendly. This would also add hype to our domestic league. I hope UFL officials can see this. We can field the local based NT players like PYH,JYH, the Hartmann, Chieffy, Angel and add up the Elhabib brothers,Ayi, Sery of Global and some of those fisty players from Stallions.I dont see the reason fielding our senior national team and half of them cant make it anyways(players based abroad). Just an idea....

MVP has a share of stocks in this company IIRC. I was also thinking of their current kit sponsor, Herbalife, a Beverly Hills-based direct-selling company specializing on health and wellness products. Herbalife has a branch here in the PI, so it will be of no doubt if they will be also be the major sponsors. Despite of this, I'm still prospecting high ticket prices here.

But if the Football Alliance will be also tapped of this, then why not field some non-NT players from the UFL to play, too?

SMC = San Miguel Corporation. I think if everything goes well, then it would mean Tickets are as high as Mt. Apo. Fielding UFL All-stars' quite an idea, that should give an experience to our locally based players. And not to take away from El Habibs but ive seen a lot of their games and sure they can score and are good players but they don't have that quickness or agility you need in international game (it's just me but i know some agree).

Here's an opinion piece from "kId2123" from PinoyExchange:
"Friendly games are created to promote the team, generate ticket sales and for some competitive practice. This Galaxy v.s. Azkals game makes sense on all of those criteria. In terms of team/sport promotion, LA Galaxy might be looking to expand globally into Asia and not just rely on the mexico/u.s. fan base.
In terms of ticket sales, this could be the last couple of months for Beckham for the galaxy (rumored to be heading to PSG) and he could be on his last year of playing professionally (35 yrs old?) so might as well milk the cow for the last time.
For the sporting aspect, this makes perfect sense as they are a team that we could be competitive against. It would be stupid to play friendly games against Champions League caliber teams when they will just demolish us like what asian teams have been doing during pre-season.
I have watched the Galaxy for a couple of times, I rate them like a mid-to-lower end 1st division european team. They are good attacking wise, average in the middle, shaky in defense and of course deadly in set pieces (Beckham factor). They are the team of choice for summer friendlies for Real Madrid as they can provide decently competitive games even without quality players across all positions."

Just an idea.... I'm thinking the same, though probably in a different light. I personally don't like it when a flag-bearing team goes up against a club. However, we can't deny our NT players the experience either. In this instance I'd recommend identifying our side as the Azkals, as if it were a club. No official Mizuno kits, just the Azkals kits. However, considering that the Galaxy are coordinating with the PFF directly, the NT will most probably be the entity on the pitch, if ever. Ah, semantics...
