Sorry for the 3rd straight post. But recently Neil flopped the ball luckily he was able to come back and recover it before the Cambodians were able to take advantage.

My 4th Straight post. I'm really sorry. But this result was really Upsetting Its a big question whether we ARE WE FAVORITES TO WIN THE SUZUKI CUP? or just another hoping team to make it to the Semi finals again. Good performance is nothing in the tournaments if you can't score especially our team is said to be good by most critics.
I'm not being a crab but just exerting my frustration.

I'm sorry to say but Neil kind of showed a diva-like attitude when he changed his Cleats and let everyone wait until he was finished... It was really unnecessary....

if you watch the reply of Patrick Reichelt after it past the keeper it bounce a couple of times... you guys think it have to do something on why he missed that shot?

Its really frustrating that we draw, when we deserved a goal or two. We had our chances but we were not able to capitalize on them. I think the terrible condition of the pitch also helped the Cambodian side. I thought it affected their passing game with the ball bouncing a lot too.
I also think those Cambodians were falling like matchsticks and they were lucky on some of the calls.
I guess I'll just set the frustration aside and take the positives out of this game. Its great to see that more of our young guns on the field. And I'm happy that Coach Anto had his time on the pitch. Coach certainly used his substitutions.

slightly disappointed with the team's performance. they could have scored at least 3 goals. they hit the woodwork twice, Wolf had some clear chances but he couldn't convert it to goal. Reichelt almost steal the game but he only hit the left side of the post, so unfortunate. i know the pitch was not good especially in the second half but the team also lack finishing to kill the game

Really frustrating draw at Phnom Penh. The Azkals clearly dominated the match, however they could not do a passing game due to the condition of the stadium pitch, which was patchy and eventually became muddy after a heavy burst of rain in the 2nd half, which resorted them to long balls. They deserved a goal or two, but they just can't finish, even with the Younghusbands around.
Patrick Reichelt and Denis Wolf have their great chances in the 2nd half but they couldn't create. Another surprising note is that Coach Weiss still used Jeff Christiaens at left back and Jason de Jong as center back, as he did during the game vs. the Chicago selection a few weeks ago, plus he used Paul Mulders as a striker alongside Phil Younghusband (Mulders is a natural attacking midfielder!). I'm guessing he wants to use Mulders as a "false-nine" like he did in the AFC Challenge Cup. But clearly he couldn't do those passes as well because of the pitch. Jerry Lucena and Rob Gier did a great job of keeping their defensive side at bay, but their signs of age clearly slowed them down. Neil Etheridge nearly did an own goal after a mis-pass to Jason Sabio from a block he did earlier. Almost an embarrassment.
The positive part I saw though is that Coach Weiss had improved in his substitution patterns. The bad news was they just couldn't create given the bad pitch condition, which the Cambodians exploited very well throughout the match.
I am hoping this kind of game won't be replicated when they play Singapore on Friday. Fingers crossed.

Well, I Am very happy the way the NT played..
First time when i saw the pitch i said YES!!! but when the ball keeps on rolling "I sed F*" The cambodians know specifically where to go "I mean kung saan nila dadalhin ang bola dahil sa condition ng pitch nila" Ayus din na magpalit ng boots si Neil mahirap gumalaw sa pitch kapag punu na ng putik ang boots mo specially sa last line of defense.

I didn't get to watch the game as I had to get to ready for work but it is my opinion that using pitch conditions as an excuse for not scoring or winning a game against a much weaker opponent is not right. Good teams will find ways to overcome those obstacles. It sounds like we still have problems with finishing and this just reinforces my opinion on Denis Wolf. As for the lack of cohesion, well the coach has been on the job for some time now, nearly 2 years. Isn't it about time he should refrain from using that excuse?

Try to watch the game or replay..

IIRC, I believe this is the reason why the match in Singapore is at Jurong West and not at JBS, to match the pitch conditions for Suzuki Cup.
Both Bangkok Stadiums the PHI will play in are grass, not turf.

I'm watching the game again as I recorded it, in the beginning our midfield was a mess, dunno why. I'm wondering when Weiss decided on his starting XI, I'm not a coach but shouldn't he have these 11 playing together in practice already? Even Darren Hartmann mentioned the Azkals 2-a-day practices and wondered why they were playing awful.
As a matter of fact, the team played better when it started raining and the pitch became water logged.
Remember our draw against Malaysia(When Wolf scored via header) in RMS when the pitch looked absolutely horrible? The Azkals didn't complain about the pitch but Malaysia especially the coach(I recorded this game too) complained loudly. Now the Azkals/we are complaining about the bad pitch!
I agree, good teams will find a way to win. Though we dominated the stats we didn't win. We need to stop with this lame excuse(even Aly is tweeting about the bad pitch), we just need to win.
Having said that, Weiss utilized his new & fringe players more now, BUT it seems like he is learning to coach a senior NT as he goes along! I wonder what would've happened if we had a proper soccer coach in 2011 and 2012? Spilt-milk now, hopefully he continues his "learning".
Someone tweeted me that PYh should be partnered with Patrick Reichelt instead of Denis Wolf. Before this game I would've laughed, but now I think it's a great idea especially the way Pat played tonight and against the Inferno. NOT that I think Denis played bad, but that Reichelt is younger and has a much better upside than Denis who's obviously seen better days on the pitch.
Misagh showed flashes of brilliance with the ball, AGAIN but he needs to be more consistent.
Rob showed his lack of speed, AGAIN but the veteran savvy showed.
Jeff C played well at LB but I will say if Ray Jonsson was playing, defense would've been even better and Rays overlaps would've put even more pressure against the Khmers.
de Jong played in the back four again. Adequate but no real pressure from the opponent. He was beaten on a breakaway by a Khmer player for a poor shot at goal though.
Mulders, if you can watch the game again, look at his passes. I can say with a straight face he is the best passer of any Azkals so far. Sublime. BUT misused as a striker/forward. He needs to be a CAM where he can see people & distribute the ball, forget the "false 9" that people misuse so often here.
Chieffy, what a surprise, he's got his legs back, still rusty but definitely belongs on the pitch if he plays like this again.
James, you can't help think that every pass he kick in front of the goal is an assist waiting to happen.
This game makes me miss Mr Ball Hog himself Angel Guirado and his brother the ever dependable giant Juani Guirado, not to mention old man Ray Jonsson. But thats just me...
