I came home last night to watch only the last 5 minutes of the game. Surprised that the score was 0-0, and more surprised because it was Badelic and not Deyto as GK. From the comments I've seen on FB, it seems that Badelic can challenge Deyto for the Global's starting GK spot, and could also be considered for the Azkals. Was he that good?

I came home last night to watch only the last 5 minutes of the game. Surprised that the score was 0-0, and more surprised because it was Badelic and not Deyto as GK. From the comments I've seen on FB, it seems that Badelic can challenge Deyto for the Global's starting GK spot, and could also be considered for the Azkals. Was he that good? 1st time I've seen him play & so far he was the most steady GK Global had fielded in an int'l game including Sanogo, Sadia & Deyto. He didn't have that panic look that the 3 had in their 1st outings & most importantly didn't fumbled balls. He did commit errors but recovered quickly. For a 20 yr old & the club's 3rd GK, he wasn't fazed being thrust into starting & frustrated Pahang enough for them to skies their attempts. Malaysians called his look school boy but praise him for his "power" haha. some even said the MOM should be given to him. I agree w/ some that he needs more chances to fully develop his potential. He's almost as tall as Deyto but has bigger bulk & can still grow. here's a pic of the 2 gks instagram.com/patdeyto1/p/0DTbcIDw2l/

www.globalfc.ph/match-report/relentless-global-draw-pahangIt was a night that Philippine football will remember as ten-men Global FC defied all the odds to frustrate Malaysian powerhouse Pahang FA with a 0-0 draw in their AFC Cup group G match Wednesday night at the Stadium Darul Makmur. Jun Jun Badelic was a revelation for the UFL champions. The Global third goalkeeper, along with the entire Global squad, with an average age of 22, had a performance to remember -- keeping the hosts at bay for the entire match.

Global coach Leigh Manson hailed his players' performance after Global FC defeated Yadanarbon, 4-1 in the AFC Cup group G match at the Philippine Sports Stadium Wednesday night. The Scottish mentor praised the entire squad for putting together one of its finest games that gave the club a historic win in the competition. Mark Hartmann scored twice while Misagh Bahadoran and Renato Gonzalez also found the back of the net for the UFL champions. "It's a little bit overwhelming but our players deserved all three points," said Manson. "The new stadium gave us a magnificent platform to get this win. Tha fans made the difference tonight." Assistant Coach Dan Padernal was also on a high after the triumph. "It feels so good to be a Filipino," said Padernal in Filipino. "They gave it their all against Yadanarbon. Global skipper Misagh Bahadoran was in top form against the Burmese side. The skipper was deployed as a striker and scored his first goal in the tournament. Last night was also his first game back in the AFC Cup after missing the away legs against Pahang and Yadanarbon. "(Misagh) showed that he can play at a high level," said Manson on his skipper. "We have been looking for a striker all over the place, it turned out we have one in Misagh." With Pahang dropping points to South China, Manson expects a tight race for a spot in the knockout stages. "Everyone said we had no chance (after the South China game), but the team has now performed very well." said Manson. "If we get another three points, it makes the AFC Cup interesting and much more exciting. www.globalfc.ph/news/manson-delighted-after-global-keeps-afc-cup-bid-alive

Captain Misagh Bahadoran made a sensational return for Global in the AFC Cup with a brilliant individual goal in the 4-1 win over Yadanarbon of Myanmar at the Philippine Sports Stadium Wednesday night. Bahadoran was sidelined by injury in the last two matches, but the skipper returned to action in the UFL over the weekend scoring twice against Manila Jeepney. With Leigh Manson deploying him as a striker, Bahadoran found his scoring touch against Yadanarbon. And the Filipino international said the club was able to prove a point with its historic win. "We showed everyone that we are capable of winning international games," said Bahadoran. "We will be stronger in our next two games (in the AFC Cup.)" Bahadoran quickly made his presence felt with a couple of good chances early on. He also drew the foul that led to Raul Martinez's free kick, which caused the handball infraction on Yan Paing. "I played striker before, but now I play as a winger," said Bahadoran. "Once coach is happy with my performance, I'm okay." The skipper also relished playing in the stadium where 2,000 fans were in attendance. "It's good to play (at Philippine Sports Stadium) since it uses natural (grass)," said Bahadoran. "The fans gave us strength to do our best and they helped us in the amazing win." www.globalfc.ph/news/captain-misagh-makes-sensational-return

Global celebrates AFC win by beating Ceres FRESH from its breakthrough victory in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup, Global FC continued with its solid form by beating Ceres-La Salle FC, 2-0, in their United Football League fixture on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium. Led by stalwarts Misagh Bahadoran and Mark Hartmann, the defending UFL champion climbed back up in the standings with the win, putting itself in solo third place with six wins, one draw and two losses with 19 total points while sending the erstwhile undefeated Ceres (7-1) crashing for the first time in the tournament. Despite the loss, Ceres still leads the league with 21 total points along with Stallion FC (7-2), who won over Green Archers United, 2-1, in an earlier game on the same day. Global and Ceres did not waste much time as they tested each other’s mettle right at the onset with good scoring opportunities. The match turned physical midway into the opening half with both squads being meted yellow cards for rough play. A series of intense back-and-forth ensued between the two top UFL teams until Global skipper Bahadoran broke the stalemate by finding the net in the 42nd minute off a pass from teammate Hikaru Minegishi, helping his team to go into the half-time break with the upper hand. Early in the second half, Ceres found itself with golden chances to score but failed to capitalize on them. Global top scorer Hartmann compounded Ceres’ woes by adding a second goal from another brilliant pass from Mr. Minegeshi in the 66th minute. Ceres made a change in its lineup thereafter by sending Nate Burkey for Cho Kyum Son but Global was unrelenting and continued to be aggressive, holding off any Ceres rally all the way to full time. Mr. Bahadoran was named man of the match for Global, who became the first Philippine team to win a game in the AFC Cup, Asia’s secondary club football tournament, by beating Yadanarbon of Myanmar, 4-1, last Wednesday. www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=Sports&title=global-celebrates-afc-win-by-beating-ceres&id=106358

Global Sign Norio Suzuki In a bid to challenge in all fronts, Global FC has bolstered the squad once again with the signing of Japanese forward Norio Suzuki. Suzuki played for four J. League Division 1 sides in F.C. Tokyo, Vissel Kobe, Omiya Ardija and Vegalta Sendai. He was also part of the Japan Under-20 squad that played in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championships. The winger will be the second player to have played in Japan's top flight after Masaki Yanagawa arrived for the People's Club last January. filipinofootball.blogspot.com/2015/04/global-sign-norio-suzuki.html
