^ I can't remember the last time the PFF had successfully arranged a Friendly. Perth Glory doesn't count.

04 September 2016 Azkals tackle North Korea in Oct. 10 ‘friendly’ By: Cedelf P. Tupas WITH preparations for the AFF Suzuki Cup far from ideal recently, the Azkals got a boost after the Philippine Football Federation secured a quality opponent in North Korea in a friendly on Oct. 10. PFF general secretary Ed Gastanes said Sunday the federation is only completing Fifa’s requirements to finalize the match against North Korea. The Azkals already had a friendly against Turkmenistan cancelled early this month, while losing two key players in Patrick Reichelt and Simone Rota to knee injuries. sports.inquirer.net/221620/azkals-tackle-north-korea-in-oct-10-friendly

www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=371349Confirmed home friendly with Fiji? No dates yet but guessing from the article there could be possible friendlies between a local club/selection with Fiji since Fiji FA would like to maximize. Fiji will be the third OFC country the azkals will face if this push through. First was Australia (when it was still with the OFC) and Papua New Guinea.

Lining up quality opponents like Bahrain and N. Korea is a success. The PFF really did a good job this time. I hope they keep it up. I hope the fans show up to watch this treat.

17 October 2016 Azkals hope to overcome Kyrgyzstan By Olmin Leyba MANILA, Philippines - Higher-ranked Kyrgyzstan will provide the Philippine Azkals another big test and good workout ahead of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup when they clash again in an international friendly on Nov. 9 at Rizal Memorial Stadium. The 108th-ranked Kyrgyz will actually fly to Manila all the more determined to win and get back at the 125th-ranked Pinoy booters, who dealt them a 1-2 home loss in their Sept. 6 friendly over in Bishek. The Azkals, for their part, will seek to score a repeat and a confidence-booster following their disappointing 1-3 setbacks to Bahrain and North Korea in their recent friendlies, also at the Rizal pitch. “There’s one game to go before the Suzuki Cup and it will be nice to win it to get confidence back in the team going into the Suzuki Cup,” said Iain Ramsay. The Pinoy booters are expected to return to training camp in the last week of October in the final push for the Asean tournament, which the country will be hosting for the first time beginning Nov. 19 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan. “Everybody can see we have a lot to do but still enough time to learn from our mistakes, improve some things, and get better, fitter, and fresher (for the Suzuki Cup),” said Stephan Schrock. Phl XI is bunched with champion Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia in Group A of the Suzuki Cup, aiming to make the most of the home advantage to advance to the semis for the fourth straight tournament and eventually the finals. www.philstar.com/sports/2016/10/18/1634704/azkals-hope-overcome-kyrgyzstan?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

After crashing out of the Suzuki Cup, what's our next international competition? Is it the Asian Cup qualifiers in March 2017?

After crashing out of the Suzuki Cup, what's our next international competition? Is it the Asian Cup qualifiers in March 2017? Yes. No FIFA match days from Dec - Feb. Unless we have a training camp just like during the time of Coach Weiss. I hope we'll have tons of games next year and to promote the game, I hope they'll play their games in different cities like Cebu, Bacolod, Tagum City, Ilo-ilo, Manila just like Japan NT is doing (playing friendlies and tournament qualifier games in different Japanese cities)

If that's the case, the team can take December & January off to recharge. Then we can do a camp in February (to determine who stays in the team and who we can add) and squeeze in a friendly as well.

A full slate of matches The coach also bared the PFF's plan of maximizing the FIFA windows with friendly matches before the qualifying games. He says that the week before the Azkals take on Tajikistan in Dushanbe in June, they plan to play China in Beijing. Before the September 5 tiff with the Tajiks they might have a home game against maybe Singapore or Indonesia. In October when the team takes on Yemen in Qatar, they would like to arrange for a friendly with a nearby country like Kuwait or Bahrain. And a week previous to the away game versus Nepal in Kathmandu in November, they intend to swing by India for a game. There is one welcome surprise for Azkals hankering for home weekend matches. Dooley says the Azkals will lock horns against a Spanish La Liga club on Sunday, May 28, probably in Rizal Memorial. Details of this game will be forthcoming, according to the PFF. www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/football/164544-azkals-brandish-big-guns-home-games-malaysia-nepalNot too long ago they also announced that RCD Espanyol will play the Azkals. And everyone knows it never materialized while the PFF never spoke about it as if they didn't announced anything and just quietly swept it under the rag. They should at least release a statement why it didn't push thru so as not to turn off the anticipating fans. Let's hope this plan won't go down the drain the same way like that.
